Awareness of the past is an antidote to both egotism and shallow optimism. It restrains optimism because it teaches us to be cautious about man’s perfectibility and to put a sober estimate on schemes to renovate the species. What coursebook in vanity and ambition is to be compared with Plutarch’s Lives? What more soundly rebukes the theory of automatic progress than the measured tread of Gibbon’s Decline and Fall? The reader of history is chastened, and, as he closes his book, he may say, with Dante, in the Inferno: ‘I had not thought death had undone so many.’

During the last 70 of its 248 years America has been the wealthiest and strongest country in the world. But now, the country’s future is uncertain. America is an ideologically divided country where the rising ideology proposes to erase the country in favor of a social experiment. Meanwhile America is threatened by three hostile nuclear powers – Russia, China, and North Korea. To make matters worse, the American educational system is controlled by ideologists of the left who teach the country’s children to be ashamed of their ancestors. The Establishment appears to believe in open borders, UN mandates, unilateral disarmament, the elimination of the internal combustion engine, and more. It does not matter whether you call this socialism or progressivism. These policies, favored by the government elite, will destroy the country. One only has to look at California, with its massive homeless population and rampant crime, to see where America is headed. Furthermore, this process is overseen by a corrupt and senile president whose advisors publicly praise his mental prowess.
Behind all their talk of fairness and democracy, Biden’s party has Soviet impulses. Like the Soviets, they lie outrageously and without suffering consequences. Deep down they dream of silencing their critics. To this end they have used “lawfare” to bankrupt, jail, and intimidate major opposition voices. Look at what they have done to Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Roger Stone, Steve Bannon, and Donald Trump; not to mention a cast of hundreds who sit in jail without being charged with real crimes. Many social media accounts have been shut down or threatened for questioning vaccine mandates and whether votes are properly counted. Indeed, our elite has instituted a double standard. Thousands of communists can riot, tear down statues of our Founders, burn businesses and injure policemen; but if a few hundred rightwing rioters break into the Capitol, it is labeled an “insurrection” and a large-scale roundup begins. Of course, all civil disorders should be put down. But in America only civil mayhem from the right is criminal. The left can riot as much as they want.
The situation is serious because leftism has infected our ruling elite. It is not merely a question of street protests. Leftism is in the White House and Pentagon, the Justice Department and the intelligence services. In recent years the left has destroyed the careers of many who oppose socialist ideology from within America’s institutions. What we see today is a rising leftist intolerance, especially in our institutions of higher learning. And yet, there is no real learning in them. Our elite, in fact, is “already far below the intellectual level that formed the background even of Marx.”[i] Their “thinking” is made up of stock phrases and dishonest claims. They vulgarize all intellectual debate “and give to public discussion the distinctly ochlocratic coloring that today has reached the point of considering as fascist or authoritarian even a reference to the facts of political and intellectual history that must be known if one wants to discuss the problems that come up in political debate.”[ii]
Leftism could be described as an infectious disease of the intellect, transmitted by educationists and activists. What cure might there be for this contagion? Michael Franz wrote, “If ideological consciousness involves a misplaced faith in a misplaced, immanentized ground of being, is it possible that a reintroduction to genuine faith in a transcendent ground would provide the remedy…?”[iii]
If it were a simple matter of turning back the clock, why did the Old Religion succumb in the first place? What error did we commit in the remote past? On this question Friedrich Nietzsche wrote, “In order to look for beginnings one becomes a crab. The historian looks backwards; at last he also believes backwards.”[iv] Later, in this same text, Nietzsche whispered into “the ear of the Conservatives,” saying, “a reversion, a turning back in any sense and to any degree, is quite impossible.” He added, “even today there are parties whose goal is a dream of the crabwise retrogression of all things. But no one is free to be a crab. There is nothing for it; one has to go forward, which is to say step by step further into decadence….”[v]
Many who watched conservatism in the 1980s, when Ronald Reagan was popular, failed to see there was a deeper problem. Few stopped to ask themselves what the conservative “victories” of that era amounted to. Perhaps the conservatives of that time were undertakers whose mission was to make a corpse appear better than it did in life. Were they, as I have elsewhere argued, conservatives with nothing left to conserve? It now appears they did not defeat the New Religion. The mourners at a funeral know when they are viewing a corpse. Yet our conservative undertakers told us it was “morning in America.” The madman from Nietzsche’s parable said the corpse was God’s and that we were God’s murderers. The question should be asked: Was the “faith” of our conservatives genuine? Michael Franz attempted to answer the question of society’s redemption through a return to “genuine faith” with the following words: “exposure to the ‘healthy’ tension of balanced consciousness … is not likely to reorient the closed soul, for it was exposure to precisely this tension that first prompted pneumapthological closure.”[vi]
Are the souls of our leaders, from left to right, closed? On every side we see fakes and frauds, grifters and clowns, painting happy faces on unhappy situations, selling their panaceas to the masses. Is this an honorable thing to do? – papering over ugly truths with cheerful slogans?
If we look past our shallow affirmations, we find facile scientism and a belief in material progress on both sides of our political divide. Here the Darwinist dictum of “survival of the fittest” meets the welfare state’s “moral primacy of the unfit.” Evading the contradictions of atheistic humanism, some would escape into outer space. This is our destiny, they say – to explore the stars (or to meet the ultimate other). This impulse is best exemplified by Elon Musk, whose idea of reaching the “promised land” is to colonize Mars.
According to the Italian philosopher, Augusto Del Noce, “A scientistic thinker (and a society inspired by his thought) cannot help being totalitarian inasmuch as ‘he cannot possibly prove’ his claim that science rules out all other forms of knowledge, and thus certain dimensions of reality, which are declared to be either unknowable or non-existent….”[vii] More than Karl Marx, it is this scientistic spirit that holds out the false promise of “Heaven on Earth” to future generations. If only we make certain sacrifices today, if only we take the sex-change cure. Everything will turn out right in the end. “Just as a Communist thinks mankind will enter an age of super-human happiness, so does a believer in scientism,” wrote Del Noce.[viii] Supposedly, science can make our dreams come true. Science can make a woman into a man. Science can cure any disease. Science can make us immortal as we acquire robot bodies. Most people do not recognize this attitude as totalitarian. According to Del Noce, scientism is even more opposed to tradition than communism. Like the Marxist Revolution, it carries within itself “the reflected light of the apocalypse.”[ix]
Of course, the crisis of modernity is not solved by venturing into interplanetary space. However far technology takes us, we are up against the Apocalypse of Man referred to in Volume VIII of Eric Voegelin’s collected works. Writing more than a half century ago, Voegelin explained, “The Western crisis … extends by now over more than a century and a half and, for all we know, may be protracted for another century.”[x]
It is a crisis brought on by inner bankruptcy, untruthfulness and insincerity. Friedrich Nietzsche thought this crisis would lead to the destruction of Western civilization. Carl Jung thought it would lead to a nuclear holocaust. Joseph Schumpeter and George Orwell feared it would end in the final victory of totalitarian socialism. Voegelin wrote, “Every day adds to our experience … and in the light of these experiences we are compelled to reevaluate the past phases of the crisis.”[xi] He further explained,
Events that seem to be irrelevant accidents or momentary outbursts in their time appear in the light of contemporary experiences as prefigurations of later horrors; ideas that seemed to be side issues, exaggerations, idiosyncrasies, or absurdities now reveal their full meaning when they become concretized in political actions and institutions; men who seemed to have a somewhat limited importance grow into sinister giants who cast their shadows over the present and into the distant future. [xii]
This passage points to the dark consummation of our time – when side issues are allowed to wreck military readiness; when exaggerated claims regarding racism are allowed to undermine national unity and idiosyncratic notions of identity are imposed by law. Think how absurd it is that men are now permitted to dominate women’s sports by identifying as women. That this is considered controversial, even now, is damning; for there should be no controversy when it comes to distinguishing male from female.
In explaining the crisis of modernity, Voegelin pointed to a “criterion of integral insanity” from which all these evils flow. This criterion is found in the “acceptance of Positivism,” which is intimately bound up with the dry fictions of Marxism, scientism, and all their auxiliaries (left and right). Positivism holds that information derived from sensory experience, as interpreted through reason and logic, forms the exclusive source of all certain knowledge. In other words, Positivism is a denial of revelation. It denies the innermost recesses of the self, of the soul, of right and wrong. Voegelin noted, “It is impossible to understand the graveness of the Western crisis unless we realize that the civilization of values … is considered by broad sectors of Western society [as] a kind of mental deficiency.”[xiii]
According to Voegelin, the “critique of the eighteenth century had ruined the prestige of Catholicism and monarchy.[xiv] In the nineteenth century scribblers set about writing new scriptures and new political treatises. Here was the crib of a New Religion, its Antichrist in swaddling clothes. Among these scribblers was Saint-Simon, Fourier, Comte, d’Enfantin, Bazard, and a host of others. According to George Dumas, “They took themselves seriously for men of destiny, marked by a fatal sign on their foreheads.”[xv]
Here we find the first “intellectual” spawn of a new and frightful tyranny, prefiguring horrors to come. Out of this milieu came the West’s enemies, foreign and domestic: first, the “progressives” who descended out of Positivism and scientism; and second, Russia and China, the main military-political centers of “progressive” communist power.[xvi]
At this late hour, who is effectively opposing this new and frightful tyranny? Our institutions have been infiltrated and subverted, inconsistently opposing the slow but sure advance of the New Religion. Meanwhile, the right is more and more the playground of reactionaries and conspiracy theorists – a rabble made up of ineffectual fantasists. Our reactionaries drag the corpse of yesterday toward the EMT crash cart of parousiastic doxa (i.e., God will save us from our weak, irresponsible stewardship.) But why would He bother?
In the Russian Civil War the White Army lost against the Reds for a reason. The Whites were stupid. The first prime minister of the Russian Empire, Sergei Witte, described the old Russian reactionaries of the early twentieth century in terms which should alarm observers of the European and American right today:
This party is patriotic to the depths of its soul … but its patriotism is primitive, it is based not on reason but on passion. Most of its leaders are political upstarts, people with unclean ways of thinking and feeling; they have not a single viable political idea … [and are] incapable of anything positive. It embodies a wild, nihilistic patriotism which thrives on lies, slanders and deceit, it is a party of wild and cowardly despair but has no room for courageous, far-sighted, creative thinking. [xvii]
The communists know the history of the Russian Civil War. It is something their leaders have committed to memory. The communists have many weaknesses, but they can always defeat primitives. It is therefore ominous to see the growing conspiracist impulse of the American right. We see this impulse in the celebrity of Alex Jones, Tucker Carlson, and a growing host of political entertainers. They take themselves seriously, like the Positivist of the nineteenth century. They have even incorporated flying saucers into their ideology. The Rothschilds, therefore, are not merely regarded as Jews. They are minions of Illuminati bloodlines or shapeshifting reptiles. These antisemitic metaphors have won millions of adherents.
What many have missed is that conspiracy theorists are conspirators in their own right; for they believe that small groups rule the world, that these rulers are omnicompetent, and there is no other way of understanding history. Falsifying their Christian confession, their real faith revolves around that same “will-to-power” that animates the resentful, soothes weakling, and thrills fantasist. As their mental process is focused on conspiracy theory, their imaginations are always in overdrive. Every fact is fitted into their conspiracy interpretation. Hysteria is their modus vivendi. A world under control is paradoxically their secret hope and their secret fear. Militantly unreflective and neurotic, the conspiracy theorist fears he will be turned into an insect, like Gregor Strasser in Kafka’s Metamorphosis. To escape an insect’s existence he imagines a gigantic conspiracy orchestrated by supervillains. Pretending to fight these supervillains inflates his ego, turning him into a giant.
Conspiracy theorists are cannibals in the sense that they eat their own. They have a tendency to fall out with each other. Frequently they accuse each other of belonging to the conspiracy they all pretend to be fighting. It was the antisemite, Revilo Oliver, who described the founder of the John Birch Society, Robert Welch, as “the Welcher,” claiming that Welch was himself a tool of Jewish-Bolshevism. In his memoirs Oliver wrote,
Welch … no longer has much to say about the ‘Communist Conspiracy,’ and, after flirting with the notion of reactivating Weishaupt’s diabolic Illuminati, seems to have settled on the conveniently nameless and raceless ‘Insiders’ as the architects of all evil, inspired by an unexplained malevolence. The principal purpose, aside from keeping the members in a revenue-producing excitement, is to make certain that their chaste minds are insulated against a wicked temptation not to love their enemies. [xviii]
It is not surprising that Oliver said “the Welcher … had become a Jewish auxiliary, primarily used to keep the goyim confused and docile and to frustrate patriotic movements….”[xix] The objection never occurred to Oliver that most goyim and most Jews are confused all the time. In fact, confusion rules history even as bungling prevails in politics and war. Yet the conspiracist sees none of this. To paraphrase Churchill, these conspiracy theorists are entirely predictable. Theirs is a mania, wrapped in paranoia, inside a broken record.
The venom of the conspiracy theorist is made with a mixture of hyperbole and resentment. An example from Oliver should suffice; for he said that the “American middle class has now been liquidated, except for a few remnants here and there….” He also observed that “the only really fundamental question is whether our race still has the will-to-live or is so biologically degenerate that it will choose extinction – to be absorbed in a pullulant and pestilential mass of mongrels, while the triumphant Jews keep their holy race pure and predatory.”[xx]
Here Dr. Oliver becomes Dr. Goebbels, that notorious clubfooted Nazi dwarf. We can see The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion bobbing up and down in the background, and hear faint rifle-fire from the Einsatzgruppen across the meadow. And now, even as leftwing activists denounce the Jews on major college campuses, we should not be surprised that antisemitism forms the connecting gristle of the far right and far left. This is their point of convergence. And convergence there will be. Even now so-called traditionalists have heard the siren song of that National Bolshevist hero, Alexander Dugin.
For many decades the Kremlin broadcast the siren song of communism. Now that the leftwing message has been handed off to China, Russia specializes in rightwing themes – like conspiracy theory, antisemitism, and nationalism. After this fashion the rightwing blade is set to coordinate with the leftwing blade. Together they form a scissors that can cut Western civilization into small pieces.
In Greek mythology the sirens were semi-humans with beautiful singing voices, daughters of the river god Achelous, companions of Persephone when she was abducted to Hades. Homer gives the number of sirens as two. We might add that one is on the Left and the other is on the Right. The song of the sirens “takes effect at midday, in a windless calm. The end of that song is death,” wrote Jane Ellen Harrison. The sailors drawn to the siren song die of starvation as the singing mesmerizes them.

Welcome back, Jeff! I know that it’s only been a couple weeks since you last posted, but I am glad to be able to read another of your essays. ‘Mourning in America’. Good one.
Excellent essay!
As unhinged lunacy and mass psychosis have captured one half of the people and desperate, yet confused rage the other, there seems hardly a way out of this labyrinth of lies, deceit, calculated dissolution and collapse. Communism is marching, more than ever, from triumph to triumph, despite their occasional setbacks, and yet the West – even now! – remains completely oblivious to where it all comes from and where it’s all meant to lead: A whole world turned into one giant, devilish concentration camp!
Several years ago (this was in the four years under Bolsonaro), I once had a conversation with a Brazilian Jew who explained to me that he was deeply concerned about the future of Brazil and that he didn’t feel safe any more and was getting ready to settle in Israel. He must have sensed what was coming …
It is a terrible situation for Jewish people, who become a scapegoat for the communist strategists who are agitating through rightwing and leftwing groups. The weakness of the West in this crisis partly arises through the lack of a proper aristocratic class tasked with defending the West against ideological subversion via cults and revolutionary sects. In navigating this crisis, the money-making class (the middle class) has not been concerned with the ideological penetration of the West because this was never part of their class orientation. Nobody is working to protect our culture from the cultural agitation of a foreign intelligence service to plant manipulative narratives through agents and prominent publications.
As you warned a quarter of a century ago on page 193 of Origins of the Fourth World War, Chapter 14, Additional Points for Consideration, Note Nr. 3:
“After this, if we put all the blame for the coming catastrophe on the Soviet long-range strategy or strategic deception, we would merely be evading our own responsibility. For WE OURSELVES have systematically, and over a period of decades, built up the forces of destructionism at home and abroad; encouraging them, tempting them, and even fortifying them with aid and trade until the twisted threads of history’s fabric have become so hopelessly tangled that everything resolves itself into a Gordian knot, made ready for the man who will not hesitate to cut it — to slash it asunder with one tremendous thermonuclear stroke.”
There is a sense of misdirection and mysticism like happened in pre-Nazi Germany. It certainly is not the first communist rodeo in terms of managing such darkness and nihilism. One ring to rule them all, whatever ideology is out there, it seems to be confederated under communism, wittingly for some of the more federated types, or unwittingly for others, the unconscious but no less dangerous and no less effective ones.
This came up to me when Levi-Strauss noted that in times past the arts were very useful, conveying signs familiar to a tribe’s unconscious, allowing it to manipulate it, the basic poetic stuff that started hieroglyphics more formalized writing for inventorying riches and power. There the art became utilitarian and started losing its shine, with specific dimensions of the gods representing their direct inventoried levels of power, Nowadays art is outright deemed useless and disappearing with modern art aptly displaying empty white canvasses, a music that is noise and a theater that has no humor but political ideological formal content of the dryest kind. The art slid thus from figurative usefulness, to utility, to entertaining beauty to satisfy a bulimia in idolatry and consumption of information narcotic stimuli (Tiktok) to expiring into meaninglessness for a disconnected nihilistic society.
Such emptied souls and unconsciousnesses thus evacuated or repressed can only be foodstuff for all kinds of federated ideologies and confederated cults which see themselves cousins of the communist management of this descent into mysticism and mystification of scienticism.

James Lindsay believes that: “Marxism Is a Religious Cult Because Marxists fundamentally believe they know the true and secret socio-spiritual nature of humans whereas (demonic, Demiurgic) social forces have conditioned everyone else not to know them, they feel uniquely entitled to power for the purpose of remaking man into who he is. Well, to be sure, there is a strange verifiable convergence of “Marxist belief they know man better”, and it is secrecy and autistic like discretion itself that is providing them this guidance, because, by holding their own belief completely suppressed to psychoanalytical levels (which allows them to observe as sort of innocently the conspiracy outbursts of others as validation of the genuineness of it, outbursts which “the other” can only feel as being genuinely believed and not brainwashed material since it too sees it as coming out of the ground or from some immanent schizo voice), they deflect the confrontation against their crazy ideas unto confrontation against the traditional parental figure, one of which being jews and by extension eventually God Himself. Marxists are not so much persuaded their system is valid and that they know better, than they are persuaded by the “natural” reactions of others in adopting Marxist feelings and constitution on their seemingly own accord.
To them it makes them think they were indeed right all along, and to wit were the Romanian witchcraft like use of orphan baby hospitals to recreate from pure ground the ultimately genuine Marxist rising out of nothingness, like a god or a self-creation, many of these orphans being probably from family persecuted by communists. This is not unlike the crude experiments in divination by a capitalistic character in ETA Hoffman’s Tomcat Murr novel, where this circus master beats and whips a little gypsy girl held in a black box to the point of metamorphosis where, being one with “the fluid” then by force, ends up divining up people in the audience, their background, what is happening in their lives, what they believe and what will happen to them etc.
In a funny persuasion, however, it is those Marxist intellectuals like Althusser and others who end up at the end of their lives seeing this as some kind of obsolete concept that had them mislead but which they still consider as a sort of good material to provoke thinking in youth, ie as a material for Platon type discourse that the youth is ultimately meant to pick apart, criticize and ultimately refute with a proof. As a French pundit said: “ok, Marx, Nietsche and others appeal to 17-18 year olds, but this is material for teenage level of intelligence and only meant to be grown out of, but 2 digit IQ types stop there in their quest of divinity and never grow out of it”. He could have added that the intellectual laziness of right wing primitives stop looking for divinity the same with similar platitudes that “God will fix it and save them”, platitude often seen in the feminine type whose inspiring divinity never goes much further than satisfying men in their conservative looks just as a mother is automatically comforting as a sort of divinity integrating law, order and protection to a naive child, when it is sheer soulless mother nature which is doing the job and the mother in question entertains otherwise a double personality which made that child illegitimate in the first place.
It thus is ironic to see the like of Althusser going back to a place of worship, believing God and making prayers after an expiring “life” of Marxism, one even resulting in suicidal degeneracy at one point because of it. And so, what looks like a jewish Marxist conspiring to mislead youth happens to be a confused post-holocaust vulnerable individual repenting back to the Synagogue after figuring that Marxism was but a cultic like substitute of ersatz divinity meant to ideologically capture him away from God, and, who, ironically is then both viewed as a traitor by Marxists and validation of jewish conspiracy or inadequacy by the right. The only thing that I would differ with James Lindsey on is that I believe Marx intentionally constructed it that way. First of all, define “conspiracy theory”.
Is it a theory that may start with a smidgen of physical data, but then goes off into wild speculation for which there is no solid evidence, or sometimes even goes against available evidence. Available evidence includes eyewitness accounts. With this definition, your first author is himself a purveyor of conspiracy theories. (He also fits the psychological pattern listed in the second article.)
A second definition is a theory that goes against the official account of an event.
Both articles tip-toed around an elephant in the room, that the “official account” of an event may itself be a conspiracy theory according to the first definition above. That there is evidence that contradicts the “official account”. And into the void rush those who try to find closure that explains the whole event.
Aristotle’s method of definition is based on essentialist principles and aims to capture all the necessary properties of a thing while excluding accidental ones. He believed that understanding the structure of definition and the appropriate method for establishing definitions would reveal the structure of essences. So, let me try to propose a definition of “conspiracy theory.”
First, a conspiracy theory is not about historically documented conspiracies (like the Lockhart Plot or the Great Train Robbery of August 1963). If it was only about documented conspiracies it would not be a “theory.” Instead, it would be history. When we talk of “conspiracy theory” we are referring to a theory about history rather than real history. Conspiracy theorists say that history is guided or manipulated by a conspiratorial group. Therefore conspiracy theory is a theory of history. Conspiracy theory says that nearly all significant events, from assassinations and school shootings to wars and depressions, are part of a master plan executed by a cabal that rules the world — especially through control of banking and secret societies. Most conspiracy theorists during the last two centuries have believed in a cabal made up of Jewish “cabalists.” A cabalist is a Jewish mystic who studies the Cabalah and uses the occult, including pacts with demonic entities to control other people. There are also conspiracy theories, more recent in origin, that allege different malefactors. Variants include references to a secret Nazi organization that survived World War II (a favorite of Soviet disinformation). Others lump in the Masons, the Illuminati, the Catholic Church, the Knight Templars, shapeshifting reptilians, Satan, and so on. What makes a “conspiracy theory” a theory is the fact that it has not been proven and, typically, the theory is couched so that nothing counts as disproof. Therefore, conspiracy theory is not scientific (as theories that are impossible to prove or disprove cannot be examined rationally). What makes such “theories” harmful is that those who advance them as fact are almost always true-believers who have no real idea of the truth, or what has actually happened. They muddy the waters of political discourse and mislead millions.

While I like the discussions with Alex, some of his historical interpretations come uncomfortably close to Jeff’s description of conspiracy theorist thinking. There is always this omnipotent aristocratic cartel conspiring to keep the people down. At min 28:50 he says that the British ‘faked their own Enlightenment’ and were running a fake (how?) half-monarchy half-republican government while secretly controlling capitalism, the political parties, and ideologies through intelligence networks; this system was Britain’s solution to the problem of how to control the masses once serfdom was gone. (Serfdom became obsolete in Britain by about 1500 and here Alex is talking about the late 17th to 18th centuries.) They didn’t have a violent revolution like the French, therefore their stable quasi-republican government was fake. (So the violent revolution/English Civil War which preceded the bloodless Glorious Revolution never happened then?)
50:21 He starts talking about European aristocratic families that were powerful for 1000 years, and then says there was a large degree of hidden control over late 19th century American monopolistic capitalism.
Later he starts talking about Soviet obfuscation and conflates the British ruling class with the communist nomenklatura.

21:33 – Alex says that powerful circles in Britain and the US made the decision to work with the Communists and watch the unfolding social experiment. (23:45) He says he was profoundly influenced by the 1966 book “Tragedy and Hope” by historian Carroll Quigley. In the book Quigley claimed to have been in contact with members of an influential British secret society (the Roundtable group) that was behind several significant events in the late 19th and early 20th century. This group was tied to the larger Anglo-American banking elite. At the end of the book Quigley suggests that there was a secret deal between the ruling Anglo-American elite and the Soviet leaders to fake the Cold War. In return for the Soviets not exposing their dark secrets the group would cooperate and sell technology to the USSR; they would also fake a few wars, like in Korea and Vietnam, to keep the American and Soviet masses afraid and under control. The two super-powers were content to divide the world between them because a destructive nuclear war made no sense. Alex considers this scenario worthy of serious investigation.
1:26:09 – He seems to say that Western officials, no matter how pragmatic or naïve they may appear, are highly experienced when it comes deception and are not fooled by the Communists. (So, the really “smart” secret rulers of the West made a deal, at the highest strategic level, where the Russians/Chinese get 10x as many nuclear weapons, and the West gets open borders and whole industries moving to China?)
15:00 He states that there was a conscious decision by the West to let the Bolsheviks win; the British knew what was going to happen (knew what?). The British were not seriously trying to stop Communism with attempts like the Reilly Plot, they just let Russia burn (19:48). The European powers decided that a backward, unified Russia ruled by the incompetent Bolsheviks and dependent on Western technology would solve everyone’s problems. (And yet the history of the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars showed otherwise.) But if that’s true, why did they only help the Bolshevik regime after Lenin instituted the NEP? Why did the Allies intervene in the civil war to help the Whites instead? According to Alex the Whites didn’t lose because they were stupid, but because Western elites plotted to help the Communists. He tends to reduce history to empires and obscure aristocratic families who control everything through secret intelligence networks. The upstart Soviets and their radical ideology don’t really fit in this worldview, so how did they become so powerful? They must have had help. And who helped them? Well the existing world power of course! The British elites who ruled the largest empire in the world and therefore had the best intelligence network, could not have been blindsided by the new Soviet secret police. At 26:05, Alex floats the notion that Western aristocratic intelligence networks were actually controlling Bolshevism the whole time (because the Tsar and the British/German kings were related by blood, it follows that Western aristocratic intelligence and the Okhrana were sister agencies?) Even if the British/Western aristocracies were not so good at controlling the Russian Communists and had to settle with them (min 29:33), the point seems to be that their enmity was exaggerated.
30:00 – The Germano-British royalty really wanted to change Tsarist Russia, to create a new serfdom by another name. The British, along with some American elites, did this because they were afraid of true freedom breaking out in Russia. (Maybe he means they were afraid of competition from a free capitalist Russia? But then why did they invest money and technology in Russia when the Bolsheviks’ retreated into capitalism?) That the Kaiser only funded Lenin’s revolution to get Germany out of a two-front war is never mentioned by Alex. Instead, for nefarious and convoluted reasons, the British deliberately hurt their own ally in WWI to help out their enemy.
Min 34 –Tsar Nicholas and his family were not murdered by the Bolsheviks because it would have made more sense to ransom them to the European aristocracies (they were colluding with the Bolsheviks after all). The Communist Revolution was a lucky escape for the European powers because Russia was falling apart under the Tsar, and the break-up of the Russian Empire would have been a massive threat. (Really, a smaller Russia was considered a threat? Well Germany didn’t agree, hence the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk. Alex seems to forget that the Russian Empire did partially break up in 1918 with many western territories becoming independent states.) But if they really wanted to keep Russia from breaking apart, it makes no sense to support the most radical faction, the Communists, who promptly plunged the country into civil war.
36:54 Alex reiterates that there were secret bodies behind these decisions, and that the more we know about this history the better equipped we are to make the right decisions today. But that statement is contradictory. If there were all these secret aristocratic groups making decisions in the past, how do we know about their existence? And if these secret groups still control the West today, then what input can the public truly have? This is the problem with the general idea that imperial elites and their intelligence networks were secretly controlling everything behind the scenes. Alex talks mostly in assumptions and hypotheticals, if there is smoking gun evidence in his book he makes no mention. He seems to recognize the threat of Communist Russia and China, but he spends most of the time talking about the sinister Brits who are similar to the Communist Bloc leaders, and who by the way, have secret networks of control over America and other English-speaking countries. I really don’t understand this.

I am just going to say that out of respect for Jeff, I have not said much about Alex, but I have always found his inclusion with people like Jeff, Trevor, and even Jean Louis rather odd. I am possibly even suspicious of him, although I would hate to be conspiratorial.
Even on the Anti Communist Conference series, he would disrupt the ideological formation and conceptual flow by derailing the conversation with these long monologues about history from 100 years ago. He was talking about the Russian princess at one point in response to some question about current news and Jean Louis had to stop and ask him to discuss current events. Many times, his points seem completely unrelated to Jeff’s and almost seem intended to disrupt the current focus by diverting. Laura has described this phenomenon here, where there are usually two entirely different conversations occurring at once. He is highly intelligent, so one presumes that this seemingly disconnected analysis is intentional.
He has a phenomenal knowledge of the history of intelligence services and history in general, and he may be “anti Russian” out of sheer survival necessity, but I am not necessarily convinced that he is even an anti communist or that Golitsyn’s Thesis forms the basis for his analytical framework, as it does for Nyquist, Jean Louis, and Trevor to a broader degree. I have alternated between assuming these diversions are merely a byproduct of his unique perspective, to more sinister suspicions that there is a diversionary, obfuscating agenda at play.
It is a difficult thing, as there are so few anti Communist commentators in the world period, and I am very grateful for any analysis/content we get period, but I can’t help noticing at times, like Laura, that his underlying ideological framework seems vastly different from Jeff’s or Trevor’s. But I could be wrong. I am still grateful for any platform / series that provides us with Jeff’s analysis and information, and so to that end, I think Friends and Enemies has been invaluable. Perhaps he just isn’t for me.
Laura: Your historical knowledge is good and equips you to see the problems with Alex’s narratives about supposed British conspiratorial dominance. There are many people who think Great Britain (the UK) is home to the ultimate global conspiracy. Quigley is not a great historian, and his work is not as some conspiracy theorists depict. There is a difference between Cecil Rhodes and other imperialist dreamers and the Jewish-Masonic conspiracy theory.
I have had the feeling, while conversing with Alex, that we are talking about two different sets of understandings. Whatever the subject, he always brings up the British. The idea that the British have become irrelevant, that they were outmaneuvered by Roosevelt in World War II, that they lost their empire after playing second fiddle to the Americans, has somehow escaped notice. There really was a shift during World War II when Britain was rescued from defeat by America. The British were desperate and had to give up some of their imperial trade policies in exchange for American military assistance. Roosevelt hated British imperialism and intentionally set about to unravel it. The British needed his help so badly that they could not always say no to his demands. After that the US Navy ruled the seas, not the Royal Navy. After that, America was the dominant power in NATO, maintaining the military balance, not the British. There is no comparison between what the British once were and what they are today — in almost every sphere.
It is funny that Alex never mentions the fact that Winston Churchill was half American; that is, his mother was an American. Does that make Churchill part of an American conspiracy against Britain? There was no such conspiracy of course, but American interests have never been exactly the same as British interests. History is complicated on all points.
Well, Alex’s take seems to me to be one wishing to abolish free speech, and the speech of educated people at that. It is no different from the work of Marxist Wokists who claim a discussion of their belief should be banned at the micro economic level of politics. Except there the envy angle is so stark that capitalism sides with the woke snitches who spare them the uncomfortable pre-perestroika Union discussions of work related PTSD. The aislments of the workers were too real and honest, and not psychopathic like potemkin enough to make Moscow comfortable. Basically the right has taken up the mantras of the traditional worker oriented (Polish Solidarnosk) communist Unions.

Hello, m-r Nyquist. I have some questions for you. I just came home from beach and despite enjoying the waves in the sea I also thought about something. According to psychology, every evil man thinks he is right and that he even does something good while doing evil things just like the Nazis or the Serbs in Kosovo and Bosnia. Would you tell me what the frank gangsters from CPSU, KGB and GRU had in their minds while spreading globally their criminal revolution through terrorism, subversion, propaganda, mafias, etc.? Obviously they destabilize every country not under their control following Sun Tzu rules but what good do they want to bring to the territories conquered by the Communists, what did they believe in? There is a second question – in what Putin and his secret services believe now? There is Eurasianism and Communism in Russia. Which one is the driving force? The Russians are the most dangerous and influential on the planet along with their Chinese comrades, they are global gangsters and terrorists but what good they think they are doing? Do they think they make the life in their countries better and do they want to impose in the West regimes which would make Communist rulers richer and their countries stronger economically? Stefan: I am sure some FSB recruits do feel disappointment when they see the kind of organization they have joined. Alexander Litvinenko was exactly this kind of FSB officer — idealistic and honest. In the end, he became a whistleblower and then was forced to defect to avoid prison. He was then murdered in Moscow. It is not so easy to join a mafia-like organization and simply go against it. You are compromised by joining it. You are then frightened into staying. It is not safe to leave. And then there is the hatred which many people feel against rich societies and the middle class. And then there are the psychologically abnormal people who founded and run the world revolution. If you are a normal person, you can join the communist cause without realizing what you are doing. Once you are inside, you are not going to be promoted. The criminals who run the KGB and GRU easily recognize good people and do not want them in positions of authority. Colonel Stanislav Lunev once described his superiors to me. “They are psychopaths,” he said. “They are not normal people.”
The structure of Communism, at a very general level, is a small core of psychopaths at the top of the hierarchy, with a large, broad mass of generally well-meaning people at the bottom. This has been proven time and time again.
There is story after story of former Communists who rose through the ranks and then encountered this psychopathic level and had a visceral reaction to it. Bella Dodd encountered this as she ascended to higher leadership. Manning Johnson encountered this as he rose to the Central Committee. Whittaker Chambers encountered this as he realized that the American Communist underground was literally an arm of Russian military intelligence, although his rejection of Communism was also triggered by Stalin’s murders of all of the original 1917 revolutionaries.

Mr. Nyquist, new to your blog. Do you think the long range deception strategy ends with United Russia and Putin being replaced by the CPRF? A return to what Christopher Story called “overt” Communism as opposed to the Duginist crypto-communism? Notably, the CPRF officially supports all those things typically characterized as right-wing: social conservatism, support for the ROC, anti-lgbt, etc.

There could undoubtedly be a racial element to the future World Ideology, as there is in the fragmented Ideologies. Putin has to differentiate Russia from Europe, because they are both white, and thus they have settled upon the term “Anglo Saxon”. You have written that Clinton told Yeltsin that he would not be able to give Europe to him because the Europeans wouldn’t like that but isn’t that what Trump will be doing by his ending the war in 5 minutes? I am not saying that he would be doing this intentionally but the result would be the same.
I hate to be a pessimist, but at this stage of the game, I do not see any circumstance under which Moscow and Beijing would relinquish power to Trump. We desperately need an up to date and well maintained Navy, particularly a good submarine fleet, but, according to Commander Salamander, we have too many attack boats that have been tied to a pier for over 2 years because there is not yard space to deal with their maintenance requirements. In the conservative camp in Europe and America, the discourse I have seen, while sympathetic to the spiritual elements of Christianity overthrown and sabotaged by the revolutionaries, the predominant factor for them is not religion, they mention the ethnic and racial factor. Race occupies the value of the creed and the common way of life is related to maintaining racial standards, even though this is formally condemned by Christianity in a papal encyclical. They are more likely to embrace a pagan version of race than take up the Christian bases, which remain only as a rhetorical effect to be discarded when the time comes. There are two major racial pro-socialist documentaries that contains historical falsifications in favor of the Third Reich and I haven’t seen authors critically analyzing these racial socialist propagandas. Those are huge films, 6 and 11 hours, and have become very famous. According to this type of propaganda, racial socialists are presented as crusaders against Soviet communism, believing that the victory of the Third Reich would ensure the realization of a utopian Europe. Communism and capitalism united against “the marvelous socialist regime”. I don’t think they’re anti-socialist/anti-communist at all…

They are strong in propaganda on the internet. Leaders are generally not so naive as to talk themselves about this issue, but we have to look at the base. You can find images on the internet of some of them giving speeches about the bombing of Dresden and using it as a platform for antiamericanism, when they speak it’s clear that the threat they think they are facing is a race war against the european man, and there is a huge revisionist subculture about the Holocaust, the Jews and the Second World War. Don’t tell me you’ve never seen the slogan “we defeated the wrong enemy” or the Kalergi Plan on their lips. We don’t need to give names because if you find those who buy this kind of propaganda, that’s the person I’m talking about. On these big propaganda productions,modern German government is showed as illegal and the American bases as foreign occupiers, probably waiting for some KGB liberator nextdoor. On a documentary about russia’s neonazi network it is shown that national-socialists groups in Russia had connections with those in Germany.
I have followed the antics of those who yet cherish the Third Reich as an ideal country and Hitler as a misunderstood leader. It has acquired a strange glamour among a small but growing sect in recent years. There is even Esoteric Hitlerism — a religion where Hitler is worshipped as the Christ.
I think, perhaps, Santana is using the term “conservative” to signify the racialist right, and that is incorrect because conservatism is reformist and constitutional. It is not “rightwing” in the racialist or nationalist sense. Although, the John Birch Society attempted to meld the two things by disguising its leaders’ racialist agenda behind an opaque conspiracy theory, as noted by Revilo Oliver. Conservatism in the sense of Edmund Burke’s writings may have a racial element insofar as folkways specific to a certain nation are part of the fabric one wants to preserve. Shared ethnicity is part of that unity which became the “nation.” It is, indeed, difficult to form a nation out of different ethnic groups; but it is not impossible as we see in America and Brazil. Everything depends on the unique characteristics of the countries in question. Thus, in America, conservatism is not the same as right wing white supremacism. An American conservative is a “nationalist” in a different sense than one might find in Hungary or Poland. It has always been dangerous to politicize race in America, or in any multiracial country.
The Nazis hated the communists, But then, they were forming alliances with them at times. There was a back-and-forth. Today I believe Moscow dominates the Nazi underground and its tentacles. We might say that “Specter” is a false flag communist operation. Or is it? Certainly it was after 1945 and through the 1950s. There is evidence that this remains the case. Does the Nazi International have much in the way of assets today? To a large extent, the Nazi diaspora was under the direction of Nazis who were Soviet agents, like Martin Bormann. This is something we need to keep in mind. But it is very interesting how conservatism has given way to the “right,” which is racial and national in an ethnic sense. Tribalism is a real thing. Yet, how effective can it be as a challenger of liberalism and communism? I am not persuaded it is strong enough to make a comeback ON ITS OWN. At least not now. Maybe in two decades. Certainly, the Russians are putting agents and resources into Nazi-like groups. This is part of their game.

A source in Chicago, IL, USA says that one time a source has seen present in a suspected intel operation front place run by an Eastern European national, and the source has seen an American youth, a problematic character with evident “Nazi connections” receiving a cash payment of roughly US $ 450, and answering various questions of the paying party, such as “problem solved, delivery made, the thing was taken care of”, and so on.
The source says that after that the proprietor of the place got suspicious about the source and tried to have a person to slip “something” into a coffee ordered by the source, but the source made it through without any medical problems, which is a truly an extraordinary result of its own.
Thus it is evident that the NAZI angle is truly run by the KGB and GRU operations, including most likely the propaganda run about Ukraine and its “Nazi battalions”…and so on.
The recruitment ops and possibilities are thus more open for these communist operations, because the NAZI cover is the more convenient and securing the blame is going elsewhere.
In regards to what will happen next, they are using the lawfare to scare people off into submission and fear of communist reprisals, which is an important communist tactic, truly from the KGB operational manual. They cannot achieve anything substantial without first demoralizing the enemy country and causing the populus to be distrustful of its own government, without the people fully realizing that the elites are communist agents and communists themselves, and that they are doing these evil things on purpose, avoiding to be seen as communists sympathizers or operatives at all, thus making sure that the blame will fall onto the hated capitalists and not on the secret communist operations.
And then there is the situation with Biden – and Trump, instead of calling Biden who he is, and explaining at the debate (which Trump should have refused to attend and rather call Biden a communist agent and a traitor, which he is, this apostate anti-Catholic element, excommunicated and on his way to Hell), Mr. Trump should have called Biden’s proposals as communist and socialist policies which the US must avoid at all cost.
But Mr. Trump has once again failed to take the opportunity to destroy that communist asset with his own communist policies, which is again the proof that there is no more integrity and truth among the elites and leaders, and that so long as the population cares only about the economic aspect of the situation, the country is in great peril of its very survival…
And to drive God from the policies and laws of the country is nothing less than a one way ticket to Hell, and a road to destruction, and the atheistic communist Mafia cannot be happier about such a deplorable development…achieved gradually over the years of public education brainwashing, which, to say it aloud, should have been avoided by denying the secular state its sacrilegious and communist organized usurpation of the entire educational system – Mr. Trump’s policy proposals do not in any way reflect how he will terminate the Dept. of Education, because nothing less will do – and it is too late today anyway as entire generations are simply created as atheistic socialist leftists, the kind of perverted people that will have no problem in allowing an open KGB asset to rule the country, after that asset and his communist cohorts have stolen the elections (and not just once and and not just the mere recent ones either…).

Conservativism that is detached from biblical Christianity was always doomed to lose against Satan’s most refined model of human oppression: atheistic hyper socialism. Such conservativism only likes the effects of the liberties the Reformation brought, but finds the theology of the Reformation tiresome or inconvenient.
Communism is winning and has conquered, or is very close to conquering, every single western government, at least in a de facto fashion, if not in an openly explicit fashion. This is, of course, why I have long argued that we are living through the scarlet beast phase of Rev 17 (which is the final phase) of the Daniel 7’s fourth beast system, which began with the Roman empire of old and continued through the centuries of apostate Christian European civilisation.
As for the Mark of the Beast referenced in the footnotes, it is already here. It has nothing to do with Nero or biometric implants, but is an outward display or affirmation by the individual showing allegiance to the image of the beast system (hence the Mark and the Image bring on the same punishments in Rev 14 and Rev 16). The Image itself is a metaphor for all that is the beast system requires us to bow down to, and in the present scarlet phase that amounts to waving rainbow flags, right-think, etc. The number 666 is a hieroglyph for the ruling elites, “the hidden (type of ) man”, but that requires lengthy exposition…

As I research various insurrections, coups, and wars from the 1920’s to present all over the globe I am astounded to find they have been instigated by the communists. I have often found this to be true in places and times that I did not expect. For example, I am finally reading John Toland’s The Rising Sun (Japan 1936-1945). Already in the first two parts of Volume 1 Toland exposes how Soviet Russia and Mao’s Communists in China worked in tandem against Japan all the way back to the 1920’s (both externally and internally). Toland points to the Communists as a major contributor to the direction in which Japan headed in World War II(with disastrous results). One thing you have to give the Communist movement credit for is that they are relentless in pursuit of their goal of global domination and they will adapt to whatever culture they are seeking to undermine in order to foment revolution. This is of great concern in surveying the current state of affairs in the United States and other Western nations.
There is also a book about how Stalin fomented war between the U.S. and Japan. That book is called “Operation Snow.” A retired Soviet spy chief let the cat out of the bag after the Cold War ended. The communist use conflict to create the conditions for coups and revolutions. Now their focus has shifted to Taiwan, the United States, and the heart of Europe.
They are like an ever-multiplying mass of locusts sweeping the continents, from east to west and north to south. And no escape, it seems, even at this late hour, as hardly anyone is willing to call this elephant in the room out for what it still is: COMMUNISM!

The only locusts in the arena of politics and economics are the communists! Wherever they come to power, it’s lights out for a long time – or to paraphrase a German saying that’s been in use for centuries: Wo Kommunisten hinkommen, “wächst kein Gras mehr”.
The communists always accuse their enemy of whatever wicked thing they have done. Stalin set this as the model for rhetoric. And they have stayed true to it.
Many years ago I read a contention that the Japanese Navy and Army were fighting two different wars. After a lot of reading of the military history of WW2, and looking specifically at the Japanese, I was forced to conclude the contention was true.
In the early part of the 2019 version of “Midway” a meeting is shown where Tojo basically dictates to the Navy that will basically be the chauffer of the Army. That meeting actually took place with the outcome as shown in the movie. The Japanese were nowhere near prepared to fight a modern war against the west.

The “Old Religions” didn’t succumb, rather we, as societies, abandoned it. We as a society failed the “Old Religion”. Every negative effect that you mention stems from that abandonment. The reason for that abandonment is simple—the same reason that Eve took the fruit—people want to be gods. They didn’t like the idea preached in the Bible that they are slaves—either slaves to God, or slaves to the devil. The devil lies, promises freedom from slavery. This abandonment has led to the “…crisis brought on by inner bankruptcy, untruthfulness and insincerity.” And that’s only some of its fruits.
Now all this tiresome philosophizing the justify that abandonment without specifically mentioning what is being abandoned. The Left rails against it. The Right (not the faux right of fascism) thinks that it doesn’t need it. Without the Bible, the Right has little to counter the siren call of communism.
This is first and foremost a spiritual battle. That may seem a little counterintuitive in our present secular world. Ultimately, this is a battle of ideas. The ideas taught in the Bible are stronger than those of communism. But who actually lives them?
It’s going to take the prospect of the “great hail” of Rev 16 before that situation turns around amongst believers, but even that will not bring the ungodly who survive said hail to their senses.
I think we have to be careful about making inferences that do not line up with reality.

With regard to peoples’ concerns about Alex B., I think I can help explain some things. Out of High School, he started a website called InfoKreig which he said was modeled after InfoWars. He doesn’t hide this. Alex Jones and InfoWars, as Mr. Nyquist has pointed out, had LaRouche people on in the early days. In fact, Tarpley made 35 appearances, LaRouche himself made 11, and his many associates have made multiple appearances over the years on IW. Speaking with a 1st degree connection of Alex J’s in High School, he was talking about David Icke all the way back then. So Alex J’s worldview from very early on was shaped by conspiracy theories and crypto-communists–that is Soviet disinformation. Most his website is crypto-communist material. So back to Alex B. He was an Info warrior which means he absorbed these views. Him and Paul J. Watson (former IW employee) at one point were chasing globalists up a mountain side together. Alex B. has appeared on the InfoWars program. I say none of this to throw stones at Alex B. Everyone at one point or another in their lives is a victim of foreign directed disinformation. Some succumb to it more than others. Recently, Alex B. has retweeted a LaRouche influenced person, Richard Poe, who interacts with Rus intel assets and other LaRouche people (fmr. employees). Alex B. strikes me as someone who is trying to pull himself out of a disinformation ecosystem, but this is hard to overcome. This is not just my assessment, but that of others I have talked with about this subject with. Lastly, the modern LaRouche crypto-communists are obsessed with England. Go listen to Russian Foreign Intelligence (SVR) directed Strategic Culture Foundation (SCF) author Matt Ehret on Rumble or his wife and fellow SCF author Cynthia Chung. James: Thank you for this background information on Alex. The lure of conspiracy theory is difficult to escape. The amount history and philosophy one needs to inoculate oneself from the effects of conspiracism takes years to acquire. Before one can form a solid opinion, a lot of history and philosophy have to be sorted out. I recently happened upon the work of Jason Jorjani, for example, who is extremely intelligent and well-read in philosophy but not at all well-read in history. I only had to listen to a couple of podcasts to realize how little history he has read, and what little profit philosophy is without history. He makes some terribly mistakes of interpretation leading to ludicrous suppositions, especially as he supposes the human race to be enslaved by a conspiracy of elites who are under the guidance of crypto-human time travelers. He has definitely imbibed the spirit of conspiracy theory in weaving the most titillating of all conspiracy theories. He is only 43-years-old and may do a lot of damage before he is done. He is published by Alexander Dugin’s publisher, Arktos. There you will find Russian fellow-travelers like Jared Taylor and Guillaumi Faye, along with writers like Julius Evola. This is very heady stuff. Very intoxicating — and poisonous. The whole Russian subset of useful idiots rare also using Nietzsche, the occult, and UFO disclosure narratives to win young adherents. I hope, indeed, that Alex B. is seeing the value in political science, history and philosophy. It is sad that people who invent alluring lies make more money, get more attention, and attract more readers than honest researchers.
The background info on Alex B is interesting, it fits really well with what he’s been saying in the interviews. I was wondering if, at one time in the past, he was immersed in the InfoWars culture, just because of his detailed knowledge of Alex Jones’ career and the inner thought process of his followers. I agree that he comes across as someone who is still trying to find his way through the thicket of imagined conspiracy theories and real unfolding disaster in the West. Let’s just say they’re both in agreement with the title of the book. At 1:06:00 Alex seems to imply that research into the infiltration *of* communism is just as important as the infiltration *by* communism.
There is definitely reason to suspect that Poe is a Russian agent. At min 14 he says that he spent time in Russia as an exchange student during the Brezhnev era, and even worked there as a journalist. He also worked with David Horowitz for a long time. 1:38:09 he accuses the British of being behind all the revolutions in Europe starting with the French Revolution, according to him these were all ‘color revolutions’, that is, coup d’etats disguised as popular uprisings. A very Putin-esque reading of history, no? It’s reminiscent of Dugin spewing about the evil Anglo-Saxons, the only difference being that Poe is very careful to distinguish between the British and American elites, and portrays America as a victim of British imperialism (eg. Britain instigated the American Civil War). I wonder what the purpose of pushing such a conspiracy theory is, since I doubt the idea will ever come close to matching openly anti-Semitic theories in popularity. Is it about dividing America from Britain, the most pro-American bastion of Europe? With Russia trying to position itself as the natural leader of the white race, it could also be about dividing European whites from Anglo-Saxon whites, and European countries from English-speaking countries (in other words, the break-up of NATO). The idea seems intended to appeal to more sophisticated people, who look down on outlandish anti-Jewish conspiracy theories.
Alex wanted to do a show on this book, so I got Poe’s book and read through it. The book skipped through a lot of history with cherry-picked facts. None of these facts were evidence — though the author pretended he had demonstrated his thesis. Alex was excited by the book, but I could not understand what this crooked retelling of history was supposed to accomplish. Who would take it seriously. Laura is right to suspect Russian disinformation. The background of Mr. Poe is very suspicious. Going to school in the USSR and working with David Horowitz is two strikes. Is the book strike three?
