Introduction
Forty years ago, a serious long-term problem confronting Moscow was the USSR’s fast-growing Muslim population. It was then speculated that the Soviet Union’s high Muslim birthrate would turn the USSR into a majority Muslim country by the middle of the twenty-first century. It is a strange joke, and more than a curious twist of fate, that NATO faces this same problem today
The Russian armed forces officially moved into Syria on 30 September 2015. Already a massive Muslim “refugee” invasion of Europe was underway, stretching through the spring and summer of that year. This migrant flood occurred without a dramatic change in the Syrian crisis. According to a report by investigative journalist Witold Gadowski, published in mid-September 2015, the people then pouring into the heart of Europe included more than refugees, and possibly included ISIS terrorist infiltrators.[1]
Gadowski was a well-known war reporter, documentary film director, and winner of several journalism prizes in Poland and abroad. He went to Syria in 2015 and discovered that in the territory controlled by the Islamic State (ISIS), there was no chance for anyone to leave ISIS-controlled territory without permission. As he explained, the punishment for attempting to escape was crucifixion.[2]
In Gadowski’s opinion, the flood of refugees had been triggered by decisions made in Moscow, and perhaps in Tehran. In fact, the mass killing of Syrian civilians was an ongoing project of the Russian-backed Syrian dictator, Bashar al-Assad – whose troops were killing seven times more civilians than ISIS.[3[ Once the Russian bombers arrived, even more civilians were targeted.[4]
Of special interest, and contrary to public declarations, Russian and Chinese technicians were busy helping ISIS to maintain its captured oil rigs and refineries, while Russian trained Iraqi military officers (formerly in Saddam Hussein’s army), were leading ISIS forces against the Baghdad government (which government set up a joint intelligence headquarters in league with Iran and Russia).[5] From this and other evidence it appears that Russia has been playing a double game in the Middle East.
Using the Iraqi oil infrastructure, relying on clandestine Russian technical support, ISIS earned $800 million in annual revenues by “selling more than 60,000 barrels of oil per day.” But this was not the Islamic State’s only source of income. According to Gadowski:
… the Islamic State trades artworks and archeological artifacts. It is not true that the monuments of antique culture are destroyed. They are sold and bring a large income. In 90 percent of the cases, this is happening through the Russian mafia. The activities of the Islamic State …[have produced a] wave of refugees that bring profits to the Russian, Turkish and Albanian mafias.[6]
In this matter the Russian mafia is not simply the Russian mafia, and the same can be said of mafia organizations which have appeared throughout the “former” communist world. As noted by Brian Whitmore of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, “Organized crime is now a major element of Russian statecraft.”[7] According to Gadowski, Russia’s game is to “checkmate Europe, and to a lesser extent the United States.” Outwardly Russia pretends to fight ISIS. In reality, Russia helps ISIS. Essential to the plan, the Syrians were generating refugees by terrorizing civilians in Syria. As stated above, Gadowski believed that a secret Islamic State Terrorist Unit (AMNI) was placing fanatical killers among the refugees. In this way a vast network of suicide bombers and murderers entered Europe.[8]
After arriving in Syria, Russian air units launched bombing raids against Syrian civilians, adding to the refugee flow in late summer. Of course, the refugee crisis was well under way before the Russians arrived. It had peaked earlier. What the bombing demonstrated, however, was Russia’s strategic intention. The Syrians and the Russians were following a pre-defined path. The bombers were the icing on a cake already baked. Long before the Russian bombers arrived other means of pressure had been employed by Syria – including the use of chemical weapons. Refugees (and terrorists) had long since flooded into neighboring Turkey. Through the spring and summer of 2015, the numbers were getting larger and larger. A significant proportion of these masses moved into Europe. This monograph will present evidence and arguments that Russia and her allies (Syria and Iran) set this process in motion as part of a larger strategic design. The authors believe that Moscow does not act haphazardly. Rather, its moves are carefully thought out in advance. The strategy being applied is complex, its objectives masked by disinformation and subterfuge, extortion and blackmail, organized crime and false flag terrorist operations.
The Arab Spring
When rebellions began to break out in the Middle East several years ago, the former chief of Romanian intelligence, Ion Mihai Pacepa, wondered why the first rebellions in the series took place “only in Islamic countries that are pro-American.” He asked why the rebels were burning American flags. He thought it suspicious that the United States had no advanced warning of the mass demonstrations that swept the Arab world from Morocco to the Persian Gulf. Pacepa noted that “on the first day of the Cairo uprising” the demonstrators “were carrying flags displaying the hammer and sickle.” He called this “a mistake caused by overzealousness….”[9]
The rebellion that began on 17 December 2010 in Tunisia, and spread across the Arab world, was an attempt to sweep away “moderate” Arab regimes. It was not a revolution for freedom or democracy. As Richard Miniter wrote in a 2011 Forbes article, “Virtually every element of the media narrative [on the Arab Spring] … is wrong or misleading.” The rebellion was not a spontaneous reaction to local dictatorships. According to Miniter, Egypt’s chief of intelligence warned Gen. David Petraeus in 2010 that Iran – a close ally and client state of Moscow – was preparing to “bring down [Egypt’s] Mubarak regime.”[10]
Miniter was told by intelligence officials that “Iran’s agents are behind the street demonstrations and violent attacks on government buildings.”[11] Iran’s revolutionary activity throughout the region, however, was not merely Iranian. This activity was connected to Russia, and to Russia’s past support for the communist cause. According to an Iranian specialist, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was educated in Moscow and may be a Russian intelligence asset. Worse yet, other top leaders in Iran were also educated in Russia, with present-day ties to Moscow.[12]
In a recently published article by the Katehon Institute[13] in Russia, B. Ozerov explained that the Soviet government in 1918 “was guided by understanding Islam as a close ideology to the communist doctrine.” After all, Islam favored ideals of equality, social justice, and the redistribution of wealth. According to Ozerov, Moscow’s initial plan in the region was “to transform Islam into an Eastern edition of Communism… .”[14]
In a 4 July 1925 interview with the Tokyo Nichi Nichi Shimbun, Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin was asked if he believed revolutionary turmoil in China, India, Persia and Egypt was bound to sweep away the Western powers. “Yes, I do,” said the communist leader, who added that the West would be “attacked on two sides – in the rear as well as in front.”
Insights of V. Kalashnikov and A. Illarionov
In June 2013 J.R. Nyquist interviewed a disaffected KGB officer in Russia named Viktor Kalashnikov. In reference to Syria, the former KGB lieutenant colonel said, “It’s all about struggle against the United States. All allies are measured in terms of their anti-Americanism. If they are anti-American, they are our friends.” Kalashnikov then referred to the deployment of “terrorist armies.” Armies composed of terrorists, said Kalashnikov, were better than old-fashioned Soviet tank armies. They were more flexible, and cheaper than tanks. “The head of the Russian state has publicly warned the West that … arms deliveries to the opposition in Syria might result in terrorist attacks against Europe. That’s a clear causus belli – a real terrorist threat,” said Kalashnikov.[15] When Nyquist advanced the idea that the Cold War was over, Kalashnikov scoffed. This is yet another topic, he said. “But we have to ask what happened to the Soviet Union in 1991. It was dismantled for the sake of reorganization and for the sake of Russian power.” The Soviet generals were not happy with the strategic situation. The large tank armies of the Soviet Union were, in Kalashnikov’s words, “a wasting asset, especially after 1983.”[16]
The core strategy, he explained, “was splitting Europe from America.” In the 1980s this was attempted with the threat of war. But now, under present circumstances, a different method would have to be devised. “What happened on 9/11 was just an omen of things to come,” he said.
In Part 1 of the Kalashnikov interview, headlined “Russia’s Islamist Alliance, Plans to Destroy NATO,” the former KGB lieutenant colonel, who had been trained as a strategist, attempted to draw the interviewer’s attention to Russia’s support for the anti-immigrant parties in Europe. Here Kalashnikov referred to Islam as a Russian weapon in the destruction of NATO. Realizing the interviewer was perplexed, Kalashnikov said, “Let me talk about [the neo-fascists] in Hungary. They are pro-Putin. They are nationalists, and of course, they are absolutely anti-Semitic and anti-American.”[17]
What did the anti-immigrant parties have to do with “terrorist armies” in the Middle East? What did any of it have to do with splitting America off of Europe? Here was a question requiring careful consideration. To answer this question, one might well imagine how NATO would have prospered if Hillary Clinton and Marine Le Pen had won their respective elections. What if Europe followed France’s lead? Would the politically correct Americans remain allies with the new Europe? “What I would suggest,” said Kalashnikov,
is that your anti-terror experts read Vladimir Lenin who provided the textbook for terrorists. How they should set up combat units; who is to be killed first and second; what strategy and tactics to adopt. Lenin developed a complete theory for using terrorism to take power and govern a huge state. That was the beginning of Soviet strategy, statehood and government, as well as international policy.[18]
More than one year after Kalashnikov’s curious pronouncements a former Kremlin economic advisor, named Andrei Illarionov, made an even more curious statement. In a December 2014 television interview, Illarionov noted that Europe had reached its lowest level of defense readiness. He also noted that Russia was openly threatening the West with nuclear war. Illarionov then made an astonishing prediction, adding that “the European nations will not be very much surprised, let’s say, if in the spring of next year, 2015, there will be some kind of massive political movement – let’s say a kind of ‘Islamic spring.’”[19]
Being Russian himself, having worked in the Kremlin, it seems obvious that Illarionov had access to high-level sources. The coming “Islamic spring,” he said, would not occur in the Middle East, “but in Europe.” He mentioned destabilizing effects on “certain European countries” where the crisis would “consume the energy and attention of European leaders at a time when Mr. Putin would try and fulfill his neo-imperial project… .”[20]
Illarionov was quite specific when he said the coming “Islamic spring” in Europe would involve “movements and activities … in European countries themselves.” When asked if this could be triggered by Russia, Illarionov said, “I am just warning … when it should happen … European societies should not be [too] much shocked and surprised.”
Illarionov’s prediction carries forward the suggestion that Moscow instigated the migrant crisis. For how else could Illarionov have known about an “Islamic spring” involving “movements and activities … in Europe”? His prediction was an unlikely direct hit. To know something in advance is to know something is being planned. Illarionov clearly predicted the most significant event of the following year. He also implied this event was planned to distract the West from Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. And this prediction fits perfectly with the analysis of Lt. Col. Viktor Kalashnikov, a resident of Moscow, who warned of Russia deploying “terrorist armies” in 2013. The fact is, people in Moscow knew what was coming. And why wouldn’t they? It takes enormous resources and real planning to move millions of people from the Middle East to the heart of Europe. Many KGB-connected individuals had to know in advance, if only to set up the needed transport system.
Insights of A Romanian General
Those who have lived under communist regimes, who were educated as strategists under them, are in a better position to properly evaluate recent events than their West European counterparts. During an August 2015 Adevarul Live television discussion, retired Army General Constantin Degeratu referred to the European refugee crisis as a “hybrid war” of aggression, conjured out of the Middle East by Russia. Superficially, the refugee crisis “completely covered the problem of the Russian aggression against Ukraine,” Degeratu noted. He then stated that the whole refugee operation was “well organized.” The general added, “Look at the people who are coming. They are better dressed and better fed than 10 to 15 percent of Romania’s population. This is a planned invasion, it doesn’t have a direct cause in the Middle East….” He then pointed out the logistical difficulties involved in moving millions of people hundreds or thousands of miles. “If somebody is to come from Afghanistan with a trolley to the border of Macedonia, this requires logistics.”[21]
As if to clarify Kalashnikov’s earlier point about Hungary, Degeratu pointed to a curious anomaly. “It is said that this threefold increase in the number of refugees compared to the numbers of last summer is taking everyone by surprise. But [this] occurred a week after Hungary completed the building of [a large border] fence. Doesn’t it seem interesting to you that first the fence was built and afterwards this migration started, in that particular area?”[22]
Retired Army General Alexandru Grumaz was also on the program. He agreed that the migration was “well supported.” He added that Turkey also had an interest in pushing the refugees along, toward Europe. It was, said Grumaz, a crisis of European institutions. Degeratu added that the problem of the refugee invasion could not be solved. Why? “Because it is managed by Russia and thus it is meant not to be solved, but to be maintained.” The general then said, “Russia’s interest is to maintain this crisis.”
“It is clear,” said Degeratu, “that if the European Union doesn’t want to live the nightmare … which says that in the years 2030 to 2040 more than 60 percent of the active EU population will be Muslim … then the European countries should decide if they want to survive as a civilization or not.” According to Degeratu’s strategic assessment, “We have to understand that we are the target of a war, and we may call it hybrid, or an asymmetrical war, but this migrant wave is a consequence of it.” He then summarized the perilous cost of the migrants for Europe, noting, “the cost for each one of these people is three times the minimum retirement pension in Romania!”[23] Surely, said Degeratu, “The political attitude [in Europe] with regard to this situation needs to change. So far, it’s been peace-time politics. Now we are the target of an aggression. Border control is absolutely mandatory.”
According to Prof. Przemysław Żurawskivel Grajewski, who was asked by Dr. Cernea to comment on Gen. Degeratu’s assessments, “The opinions of Gen. Degeratu are fully justified and I would subscribe [to] each of his statements….” Prof. Żurawski is one of Poland’s best political analysts. He teaches social science at the University of Łódz and the National School of Public Administration, serving in the National Council for Development, an advisory board to President Andrzej Duda. He is also a counselor to the current Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jacek Czaputowicz. According to Prof. Żurawski, the Russians are not responsible for all the refugees who have flooded into Europe, but it is certain “they did their best to make [the problem] larger … to confuse the political scene in European countries … as much as they can. Russia is the main ally of Assad and Iran….” These allies of Russia, he said, have maximized “the scale of the refugees.” Prof. Żurawski also pointed to “the semi-criminal FSB/local mafias and hybrid structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina.” These also played a role in moving refugees through the Balkans into the heart of Europe. “The conclusion is,” he said, “that Russia had instruments to maximize the troubles” despite Europe’s inability to find “a smoking gun.”[24]
Prof. Żurawski also noted that, “Anti-immigrant parties in the West are usually pro-Russian (i.e., the Front National and AfD); so deepening the crisis helps Russia’s followers in the West.” This point should not be overlooked. (Kalashnikov hinted at this factor with reference to Hungary more than a year before the refugee crisis began.) Here the manipulation of the European right takes center stage. Moscow has every reason to believe the European anti-immigrant parties will gain political traction as the refugee crisis intensifies. Moscow, therefore, has reason to invest in the European right. Simultaneously, Moscow also uses its agents on the European left. These agents intensify the crisis through “politically correct” policies. As the left drives the crisis forward, the right opposition grows and seeks ready allies – and is driven into Moscow’s open arms.
This process may have already succeeded in Hungary where Prime Minister Viktor Orban has shifted toward Moscow.[25] The Chief of the Hungarian General Staff, Gen. Tibor Benkő, says that Hungary does not have to buy equipment exclusively from NATO countries. Russia is currently modernizing Hungarian Mi-24 and Mi-17 helicopters for $64 million.[26] Perhaps even more alarming is Prime Minister Orban’s tolerance with regard to Russian infiltration of the Hungarian right. Former Hungarian anticommunists are now celebrating Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, linking arms with Russian officials. According to authors Péter Krekó and Lóránt Győri, Russia has invested political capital in “hate groups in Central Europe,” with financial ties “to violent organizations in Central and Eastern Europe as well… .”[27] This is a conscious strategy:
In Moscow’s toolkit of active measures and hybrid warfare, the boundaries between violent and nonviolent tools are increasingly blurry. And this process is two-directional: not only can information be weaponized; violent organizations can be used as soft-power tools. The Kremlin is highly effective at infiltrating fringe parties and paramilitary organizations in Central Europe. They are easy to purchase or control, as these extremist groups tend to be small and easily manipulated.[28]
What is the ultimate strategic value of the infiltration and manipulation of fringe parties and paramilitary groups? Keeping this question in mind, when we look at the present-day chaos in the Middle East, Russia’s past support for terrorist organizations of every kind is hardly a riddle.
The former Romanian Minister for Communications and Information,[29] Marius Bostan, was asked by Dr. Cernea if he agreed with Gen. Degeratu’s remarks. Bostan replied,
From the perspective of my own experience in public service and politics, I do agree with Gen. Degeratu’s opinion that Russia is likely to have been involved in the migrant crisis and … it should be regarded as a hybrid war operation against the West.
Bostan emphasized that “a very important component of the hybrid war is the cultural dimension.” Here the Internet plays a key role. The Russian long-term investment in “propaganda, disinformation, opinion and behavior-shaping” cannot be underestimated.
A short-term view would be a mistake. According to Bostan,
There is something about the Russian strategy that is difficult to explain to our Western allies. It’s the fact that Russia usually acts on both sides of a (real or manufactured) conflict. For instance, on [the] Internet we notice that Russian propaganda, disinformation or trolling activity on forums and social networks typically carry messages meant to create/amplify conflicts between different ethnic or religious groups – Romanians versus Hungarians, Poles versus Ukrainians, Christians versus Jews, etc. And they encourage at the same time groups with opposed views – far left anti-market tendencies [versus] libertarian ones, LGBT-rights [versus] conservative Christian activism, open-border multiculturalism [versus] antiimmigration movements, etc. Thus, Russia is able to provoke conflicts and crises, and to influence the public agenda of the countries it targets for subversion.
This ambivalence may seem paradoxical to Western minds, used to a binary logic according to which something cannot be black and white at the same time. Well, Russians are not Westerners. In the East, black and white may be defined in many different ways. Moreover, the Russian leaders still function according to a mentality shaped by Marxist dialectics, which says that progress results from the constant struggle between contrary elements.
It looks like the West is only now discovering that, for instance, Russian internet trolls simultaneously support a certain cause and its contrary.[30]
Bostan has laid out one of Russia’s key strategies. He says this kind of strategy is “difficult” for the West to understand. As Rudyard Kipling expressed it, “East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet.” At some point in the future, however, the West must learn to appreciate Russia’s “scissors strategy” – “that Russia usually acts on both sides of a … conflict.” If there is one central lesson to be drawn from this study, Bostan has underscored it.
In their Atlantic Council article, “From Russia with Hate,” Péter Krekó and Lóránt Győri explain how Polish counterintelligence “is currently investigating Mateusz Piskorski, the leader of the Polish leftist party … as well as former activists of the far-right Polish Congress of the New Right (KNP) on charges of espionage on behalf of Russia.”[31] Here is the classic Russian “scissors strategy” at work.
If the refugee crisis is part of a Russian scissors strategy, how does Russia benefit? First, political tensions are intensified between the European right and left; second, the right can be pushed toward Moscow by a variety of mechanisms; third, a general weakening of NATO develops under a scenario of “divide and conquer”; fourth, a general demoralization and loss of belief in existing institutions naturally follows.
In his interview with Epoch Times in November 2015, General Degeratu showed the depth of this understanding when he said we “should see who takes profit” from the refugee crisis. “Well,” he explained, the Russians profited, and many cracks appeared in NATO. “We see how ‘united’ Europe has been,” Degeratu added sarcastically. “Full unity! There have been 50 voices in our European ‘unity.’”[32]
Those who have set up the exercise [Degeratu continued] have understood all our weaknesses and have exploited them properly. What else have they obtained? … does anyone still speak about the Ukrainian crisis? Not anymore. There are also 1 million – in fact, 800,000 – refugees, from Eastern Ukraine and Crimea, most of them from Donbass. Eight hundred thousand. There are 8,000 dead. A round 2,000 children and pregnant women have died in this crisis. We almost haven’t seen them on the (TV) screen, there have been no gatherings, there was no session of the Romanian Parliament… .[33]
Degeratu is extraordinarily perceptive, and other experts agree with his assessment that Russia is waging a hybrid war against Europe. “Maybe some of us are too militarily-minded and ask questions that shouldn’t be asked,” said Degeratu.
Testimony from a Syrian General
There is a stunning revelation in the fragment of a September 2015 interview given to Witold Gadowski by Syrian Brigadier General Ahmad Aljjdeaa, a soldier with thirty years of experience in the Syrian Army who is also the deputy minister of defense in the Syrian government-in-exile. According to Gen. Aljjdeaa, “Russian officers are constantly present in the branches of the Syrian army supporting the regime of Bashar Assad….” Then he added,
Russia is interested in confusion in Syria. There are also four military training centers in Russia, in which fanatics are trained, who then fill the ranks of the Islamic State troops (ISIS). Among the trained are also Chechens.[34]
Related to this, another curious headline reads: “In retreating from Iraq, ISIS terrorists lost their Russian passports.”[35] The facts are reported as follows:
The Iraqi military, who at the end of last week occupied the university building previously held by ISIS in the city of Mosul, displayed what was found in evidence as the identification papers of Islamic State terrorists, which mostly turned out to be Russian.[36]
Again, it is a case of the “scissors strategy.” Moscow has perfected the fine art of stage-managing fake wars and phony splits with false fronts made up of “useful idiots.”[37] Russia’s deployment of terrorist and counter-terrorist forces in Syria and Iraq should surprise no one. This procedure was used during the Soviet-Afghan War in the 1980s and again during the recent wars in Chechnya.[38]
At this juncture it may be useful to recite a bit of history. In July 2005 the Russian KGB/FSB defector Alexander Litvinenko told the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita that Ayman al-Zawahiri (then Al-Qaeda’s second in command) was trained by the FSB in Dagestan in 1997. According to the former KGB foreign intelligence officer Konstantin Preobrazhensky, Litvinenko “was responsible for securing the secrecy of al-Zawahiri’s arrival in Russia … in 1996-1997.”[39]
The Romanian intelligence defector, Lt. Gen. Ion Mahai Pacepa, has described Moscow’s use of Arab terrorist organizations throughout the Cold War in his books.[40] We know that Russia stands firmly behind the Islamic terror regime in Tehran.
Researcher Antero Leitzinger explained,
Modern terrorism was born within a year, 1967-68. International socialists (communists) started the fashion all over the world simultaneously, which should make us suspicious about the common roots. National socialists [in the Arabist regimes] followed suit, turning Marxists of Muslim origin into Islamists of Marxist origin.[41]
Among the closest associates of Khomeini, there were many Communists who had conveniently grown beards. Mustafa Ali Chamran had studied in California and Egypt before he founded a Red Shi’ite secret society. His pupils included later foreign minister Ibrahim Yazdi, oil minister Mohammed Gharazi, and Lebanese fellow student at [UC] Berkeley…, Hussein Shaikh al-Islam, who led the occupation of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran. This occupation, shortly before the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, focused Iranian radicalism into anti-Americanism… . Mohammed Beheshti, whose death at a bombing on June 28th, 1981, remained a mystery, had resided in East Germany. Khomeini’s early companion and foreign minister, Sadegh Ghotbzadeh had successfully … [collaborated] with the new regime. Both Ghotbzadeh and Chamran had received Palestinian terrorist training. As a student in the USA, Ghotbzadeh had been recruited by the [Soviet] GRU.[42]
With regard to the Soviet-Afghan War, Leitzinger explained that Soviet Military Intelligence (GRU) had developed special capabilities by the late 1980s, especially “how to manipulate Islamists and to make Communists (of the Khalq faction) to grow beards and join their declared enemies.” According to Leitzinger, “This ‘Khalq strategy” provided a successful alternative to the more orthodox “Parcham strategy” that relied on ideologically less unholy alliances.”[43]
Leitzinger argued that the Russian secret services “gained a tight hold on international terrorism, and [especially] on Islamism” in the 1990s. The terrorist is, in essence, a special kind of agent provocateur. A Western analyst finds it difficult to see the Afghan-Soviet War or the first and second Chechen Wars as utilizing provocation techniques on a broad scale. Former CIA official T.H. Bagley and KGB defector Peter Deriabin noted, “Soviet provocation … remains little understood in the West. People safe in a democratic system may find it difficult to conceive that rulers would systematically use such hostile techniques against their own subjects.”[44]
If Moscow’s wars in Afghanistan and Chechnya were built around terrorist provocations, and the objective was to radicalize and infiltrate Islam, and reorient Islam against the West, then the wars in Afghanistan and Chechnya appear in a more intelligible light. The Soviet Union did not invade Afghanistan for conventional reasons, or to attain classical military control.
With the advent of the refugee crisis in Europe, with the likelihood of thousands of terrorists settled within a mass of protected Muslim refugees, the least sign of Russian involvement – or the involvement of Russia’s Islamist surrogates – ought to inspire a shockwave of alarm through Europe’s security establishment. Given the history of Moscow’s infiltration of Islam, and the mounting evidence of Russia’s double game, the Kremlin would be the most natural suspect in any close study of the refugee crisis. Arguably, any other focus would be irresponsible.
As reported by the BBC, U.S. Gen. Philip Breedlove, the senior NATO commander in Europe, said that Russia and Syria were “deliberately weaponizing migration in an attempt to overwhelm European structures and break European resolve.” He cited Russia’s use of barrel bombs against Syrian civilians. What was the purpose of such indiscriminate attacks? The purpose was, he said, to “get them on the road” to Europe.[45]
Masses of homeless people, adhering to an alien religion, is one problem for Europe. Terrorism is yet another. Since the refugee crisis began Europe has been hit with an unprecedented wave of terrorist attacks (not to mention rapes, knife attacks, and robberies). First came the Paris killings of November 2015, then the Brussels bombings of March 2016, then the Nice truck attack and the Normandy church attack of July 2016. Then there was the string of Islamic stabbings across Europe.[46]
Some of our sources (quoted above) have claimed that modern terrorism was introduced to the Muslims by the communist bloc half a century ago. This point must not be forgotten when evaluating the left’s strange love affair with Islam. “From the very beginning,” said former KGB Lt. Col. Konstantin Preobrazhensky, “the so-called Bolsheviks, or communists, were considering Muslims as the reserve [army], as the human resource for the world revolution. Not all … people know that the second appeal by Lenin, after the Great October Socialist Revolution in 1917, was addressed to Muslim toilers….” Preobrazhensky continued:
At that time Islam was the religion of the oppressed … of the people colonized by the West. As Lenin said by the time of the … Communist International, ‘The West is existing at the expense of the East.’ Even now we can hear such conclusions, such ideas. And as soon as the Russian Revolution took place, Russian Muslims immediately supported it, so that the communist Muslim military organizations were formed. The Muslim communists were dethroning the local bourgeois Muslim governments which appeared in the Russian Empire.[47]
Refugees to Europe: A Russian Policy
Adding to the voices of those who understand Russia’s strategy, Antoni Rybczynski has said, “The migratory crisis in Europe is largely a work of Russian policy… .” He further stated, “Already … when nobody expected Russian raids in Syria, Vladimir Putin warned that Europe would face the great problems associated with the influx of immigrants.” In this way Moscow supported Assad while undermining
Europe.[48]
Another Niezalezna.pl headline refers to “Putin’s diabolical game, Exporting Muslim immigrants to Europe.” The article begins, “The Norwegian authorities believe that the refugees’ invasion of their country is a Russian provocation.”[49]
In October 2015 the Czech Minister of Defense, Martin Stropnicky, suggested that Russia was possibly financing the transportation of refugees to Europe. “Although I do not have 100 percent proof of this information,” he said, “I cannot discount it either.”[50] Given all we know, his surmise is logical. It is sensible. Why wouldn’t Russia – which has armed Islamic terrorists throughout Asia – arm Islamic terrorists in Germany, Britain, France or Sweden?
According to a member of the Estonian National Defense League, Ants Laaneots, “Putin’s aim is the disintegration of the European Union and NATO, if possible.” Russia, he added, is promoting “Euroscepticism.”[51] More likely, Russia’s strategy includes many subtle and indirect objectives. As with the work of the late Mohammad Fahim in Afghanistan, Russia can take over a NATO-defended country through the work of an enterprising criminal. Russia can thereby paralyze the heart of Afghanistan or the heart of Europe in a way that mocks European compassion.
The Chairman of the Supreme Council of Lithuania, Vytautas Landsbergis, made an observation on 15 September 2015 about the refugee crisis almost identical to others we have seen:
I was thinking who had to profit, and I know now. In the current crisis, the whole attention is focused on Europe. Nobody is speaking of Ukraine any more, although there are almost 2 million refugees there as well. Putin has chased them away, and nobody is proposing them to go where life is better….[52]
According to Landsbergis, the current migration crisis is a threat to European civilization.
Europe has met a big danger for its own system, even for its own civilization. The Germans earlier had illusions, that they would manage to integrate a million Turks, that the Turks would become Germans and there would be no problem. It didn’t work. Ghettos were created, a state within the state, and these are big problems….[53]
The Ukrainian MP, Anton Gerashchenko, speaking on TV Channel News One, stated:
The crisis of migrants in Europe arose because of Putin. The war in Syria began in 2011, but migrants flooded [Europe] like a large river in the spring of 2015. Russia made a decision after Europe imposed economic sanctions on Russia: ‘Let’s create problems for them.” They created a problem: $1,000 was allocated for the head of [each] refugee who will be taken from Syria to Europe. A million refugees are a billion dollars. This is nothing to Putin….[54]
The cost to Europe, however, is much more than a $1 billion. Gerashchenko added that an atmosphere of xenophobia has been created in Europe along with the growing influence of various nationalist parties, which are known for their favorable position toward Putin’s Russia.
Conclusion
Whatever the causes of the Refugee crisis, Moscow’s strategists have taken full advantage of the situation. Those who know Russian policy best, who are geographically further east, know that Russia has something to gain. If a “smoking gun” is absent, in a strict sense, there is yet a loaded gun. One might say this gun is pointed at the heart of Europe.
With regard to proof, the strategist does not wear a white lab coat or follow some academic procedure to understand the world. He is not a prosecuting attorney who has to prove his case in a court of law. He is engaged in “a duel on an extensive scale” – which was Carl von Clausewitz’s famous definition of war. If military and political leaders only acted on the basis of scientific proof – or rely on proofs used to convince a jury – they would not be able to act at all. The soldier and the stateman exercise judgment on a more commonsense level.
Consider the following analogy: If it is 2 December 1941 and an American plane spots six Japanese aircraft carriers moving east between Alaska and Midway Island, a sensible strategist would assume that the Japanese were intending to attack the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor. The sensible strategist would be quite foolish to declare that “there was no proof” of a Japanese intention to attack. It would be pedantic, under the circumstances, to say there was “no smoking gun.” Strategy dictates an entirely different epistemology. The reported movement of the Japanese aircraft carriers would constitute a loaded gun, aimed at the U.S. Pacific Fleet. A responsible military leader does not wait for that gun to be fired. An American admiral, drawing the proper inferences, would know exactly what to do. He would alert the fleet at Pearl Harbor and take countermeasures. He would know, as one who directs fleets, that every enemy move speaks to intention. That must be the foundation of his certitude, of his practical knowledge.
In terms of the Muslim refugee crisis in Europe: reports of ISIS training camps in Russia, reports of GRU/SVR and Russian Mafia assistance to a massive influx of refugees, reports of Russian infiltration of terrorist organizations throughout the Muslim world, etc., constitute a loaded gun. We must judge these reports as strategists – not as social scientists or academics. This must be the foundation of a new strategic methodology for the Muslim Refugee problem. Clearly, this is not simply about Islam. Russian involvement is indicated. Russian strategy must be understood as part of a greater strategic whole in order to properly assess the larger situation.

[12] The former intelligence official was interviewed by J.R. Nyquist on condition of anonymity.
[13] Katehon’s president is Konstantin Malofeev, a Russian oligarch with close ties to Aleksandr Dugin, previously the co-founder of the National Bolshevist movement (along with Eduard Limonov). This was a movement which combined nationalism and communism (i.e., a Red-Brown prototype movement). More recently Dugin changed his ideological formula, mixing pan-European or Eurasianist ideas with nihilistic metaphysics in order to justify a worldwide anti-U.S. alliance between traditionalist and Marxists. All this is interspersed with a thinly disguised Lenin-style anti-capitalist millenarianism which seeks to hasten the “end times” with the destruction of Carthage (i.e., the United States). Dugin’s pretense at Orthodox Christianity should not be taken any more seriously than his nationalist pretenses. His entire ideology is an arcane mishmash of thinly disguised excuses to reestablish the USSR as the Third (or Fourth) Rome. Dugin’s enemies are the old enemies of the USSR. His friends are the old friends of the USSR. Dugin’s philosophic sophistication is a hoax and his past fascination with Aleister Crowley’s black magic deserves more attention. Of course, Dugin’s flirtation with esoteric ideas has helped to win adherents on the altright, particularly among neo-pagans, occultists and Sufis. His supposed positive attitude toward traditional Christianity leads to the conclusion that he is consciously toying with dialectically opposite theologies and ideologies. Using conspiracy theory as a tool to advance his anti-U.S. agenda, Dugin also pretends to support President Donald Trump, making English language broadcasts praising Trump for stopping globalism and “the expansion of liberal ideology.” Dugin also praises Alex Jones and Infowars. I hope Mr Nyquist wrote part 3 of this article to detail on how, why, what neo-Soviets (Russians) and Iranians did against the Libya. Gaddafi was literally warning all of us that Europe will be flooded with migrants before his death. He was extremely skeptical against neo-Soviets and international communists, so that was why he joined the list of victims along with Nicolae Ceaușescu and Saddam Hussein. The hidden support of Iran against Gaddafi was unquestionable but no one including the US talked much about except for Sunni elites who are afraid of Iranian communists targeting them next.

I currently see that Israelites under Netanyahu helped Iran to sabotage the possible peace deal between the US and Saudi + Sunni alliance. Iran successfully controlled Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, and numerous Sunni proxies which all are under Russian-Chinese oversight. Saudi Arabia is the last Sunni target for an Iranian communist revolution, so I can feel that Prince MBS is really afraid of this. This was why he had to reluctantly obey Russia and China who keep a leash on Iran. Deeply, he wants Saudi Arabia to be out of this leash from the global communists.

On the matters of Europe, we have witnessed Russia reaping fruits of success through a far right victory across Europe. This was the fruit from years of facilitating far right sentiments and extremely unstable immigration of Muslims. The weirdest thing that you can see East Germany coming back to life in the recent election.

I begin to think that Putin and his world leaders of communism are thinking to replace Scholz and the SPD. They possibly pursue the “ducking strategy” of bringing back the USSR physically. No more European Union project that was initiated by Gorbachev. They will split European Union into left vs right states which I can see East Germany secede again. The repeat of Ukraine project that started with Donbass, Crimea, Lugansk. They already a physical foothold in Moldova, Serbia (former Yugoslavia area) to repeat the same thing as it was in Ukraine.

China is facilitating the economic assistance for Russia to make the ducking strategy work. There’s currently a massive wave of Chinese investments in Hungary, as an example. So Russia can create separatist states across Europe or annex some states outrightly like Ukraine or Baltic States, while China will bankroll the occupation forces.

In fact, Russia recently reveals the official map of future Russia where Ukraine is completely annexed.
Jeff, I listened to John Moore’s program today and Thomas from Germany’s report of the after effects today, years later, of the infiltration of Muslim refugees into Germany some 10 years ago. The same things are happening in Sweden, btw. Here in America, too. Michigan, including Minnesota which has quite a population of Somalis that were allowed in via Bush Sr and Bill Clinton in the 90’s. I have a friend who is from Detroit, Michigan and he refers to Dearborn as “Dearbornistan” as when one drives through neighborhoods, it’s like being in a 3rd World country. Like this longtime Detroit native reports in this video.
https://youtu.be/61FtMLt_Jek?si=M3_NmZcbmjMAAmaT
And, one other comment regarding Thomas’ perplexed attitude as to why this is happening regarding so many knife attacks now, specifically to a victims’ neck happening in Germany. One can simply read their Quran and learn that these “fundamentalists” are simply following their religion and what their prophet has instructed.
Surah 47:4 So when you meet the disbelievers ˹in battle˺, strike ˹their˺ necks until you have thoroughly subdued them, then bind them firmly. Later ˹free them either as˺ an act of grace or by ransom until the war comes to an end. So will it be. Had Allah willed, He ˹Himself˺ could have inflicted punishment on them. But He does ˹this only to˺ test some of you by means of others. And those who are martyred in the cause of Allah,1 He will never render their deeds void.
Surah 8:12 Remember, O Prophet,˺ when your Lord revealed to the angels, “I am with you. So make the believers stand firm. I will cast horror into the hearts of the disbelievers. So strike their necks and strike their fingertips.”
10+ years ago, Ann Cochran wrote of this same infiltration happening here in America. “Refugee Resettlement and the Hijra in America”. 9 major VOLAGs, so called Christian charities bring these refugees in to America and in cover of the darkness in the wee hours of the night in the airport across the land, these folks are flown in, loaded in busses and vans, and routed to metropolitan areas as well as rural communities, often times the city, or small town mayor being the only individual knowing what’s about happen in his or her community. And then signed up on every government and welfare program available. It’s all about $$$$$ to the charities as well as the cities and towns. They don’t care about these folks or the communities they drop them into. Same goes for schools. My own kids attend a private Christian boarding academy and there’s more refugees attending there than actual church members kids locally or across the state. It’s because the private school gets paid in full via government versus average Joe Citizen who has to make payments or have assistance in seeing his children get a “Christian education” versus the Communist controlled public school system here in the USA. Ironic really.
10 years ago I was told by a personal friend who went undercover as a van driver that these organizations received $2500-3000 per head for every refugee brought here. I’m sure it’s higher today.
We’ve been being invaded by these hoards. By design. But no one listens, no one cares.
The communists are diabolical for pushing open borders. It has tangled up our society in dangerous “contradictions.”
Correction: spell check changed her last name. It is Ann Corcoran.
I think I understand Thomas’s concern about the knife attacks. Germany has had a steady stream of Muslim immigration for decades and then a huge wave of Middle East migrants 9 years ago. That it’s written in the Koran doesn’t explain why there would be a sudden spike in Islamic knife attacks *now*. But given the pro-Russia right’s recent electoral success in the European Parliament elections, and especially in eastern Germany, I wonder if there is a big Muslim provocation planned to further divide the German people. Are there more elections taking place in Germany soon?
Lauraz1986: I guess I did not do a great job of expressing my thoughts when I mentioned those knife attacks in my initial comment. I should have included the fact that as this particular group has grown in size (in Germany, Sweden, and even the U.S. as in Dearborn, MI and Minneapolis, MN) so has the crime level, violent attacks on citizens in the host country or states and cities and towns here in the U.S. Just as in Germany, this is happening more and more right here.
Thomas also mentioned that young girls cannot even go to public swimming pools out of fear of being attacked or raped. Minneapolis has “no go” areas as does Dearborn as well due to gangs of young Somali males.
All that said, I was trying to make the point that some of these individuals, criminals simply use what is said in their own religious beliefs and writings to justify their violence toward others, and it’s being directed at established people, citizens of a host country or State. Law abiding, peaceful people.
The Russians do seem to be reaping a harvest from the German right — having pushed a million Muslims into Germany. I think it’s a strategy. Here is an example of a scissors strategy working.
[…] https://jrnyquist.blog/2024/06/12/russian-strategy-and-europes-refugee-crisis-2/ […]
The “death to Israel” situation is the same. The Soviets first figured the “Wandering Jew” problem was ripe enough to create a radical communist jewish state in the Middle East. However the “savage ideological proselytism” and Messianism died once Israel had a state where any god, ideology or initiation there became moderated by the tribe as it affected the tribe, instead of being a one man savage show, one which drove Abraham to nearly kill Isaak.
I think ever since the Soviets have sought out terrorism and destablizing of states and creating all kinds of refugee diasporas all over the world. The Palestinian issue is the same as no effort is made for arabs of that specific region to create a civic society, but quite the opposite, the Palestinian is meant to be kept wandering around. Now the US is going to have to take in Palestinian militant “refugees” as a result of the Hamas provocation – an extention of creating savage forms of disconnected and traumatic forms of interactions without a secure containing moderating framework for the human product,
In fact, speaking of Opium war, the savage use opiates is similar, creating situations of addiction and permament metamorphosis without a receptacle framework to construct a person out of it (the way traditional societies employed drugs for initiatic purposes and building guidance. In other words, the savage Fentanyl introduction and the savage migration are similar opiates which exacerbate even corporate human content management to the point of near treatment of savage populations in savage manner as slaves.
Slavery is thus a vicious opiate for both master and slave. The Soviet Union of course was built on such savage process, with the ideology making the worker an opiate and the leader an addict. So much for Karl Marx calling religion the opium of the people, which was typical disinformation and half true since metamorphosis is but one part, and a small part of religion, the 95% rest being construction. The ends justifying the means is an opiate product, and purely so, however, hence attesting to Marx projecting on religion what he himself was lusting after as a drunkhard – same with Lenin abusing mushrooms.
Suffice to say that savage migration and disintegration of the group works exactly as a savage opiate, however, since it involves humans on a large scale, it is an opiate for dictators and, if not, the very gods these materialists claim do not exist. Corporations too seem affected getting in cheap labor and abusing it. This is part of the general debauchery and ensavaging of western elites.
Combine this type of libertarianism with Elon Musk smoking pot savagely without framework constructing tribe, and you get this kind of innane teenage reaction of his accusing Ukraine of spoiling his life and causing war.
It truly is a diabolical thing that I am suprised transcultural psychiatrists and ethnopsychiatrists have not picked up on – except the militant left wing ones who want to spread schizophrenia of course.
Check out this insane meeting of red psychiatrists on youtube, nonchalantly plotting world madness and terrorism with “research papers” on psychiatric research.

Mr. Nyquist, this new layout is taking up a lot of screen space, the way it was before with most of the text appearing was much better to read. And I can’t find the search field to find articles according to keywords.
The configuration stacks the graphic on phones, and desktop screens should be plenty large. Are you on a laptop? The previous design was leading to problems. People were posting comments in “Contact Us” and “About,” and the quotation format was too large.
I cannot amend this present format the way it is set up. I would have to start over.
1. I have a WordPress blog myself. One can in any case change the settings for optimal appearance either on regular (horizontal-format) computer screens, or on vertical-positioned tablets, or on I-Phones/Smart-Phones. And this is what you do:
As you have your blog on your screen, go to your WordPress customer top bar and click on the WordPress logo therein. Then,
> Click inside the menu on the left, “Appearance”;
> Then choose from the side menu: “Header”;
> Choose again from that side menu: “Site Identity”.
> Inside the customising side bar on the left, scroll down to the bottom, and you will see three optional symbols to choose from for appearance:
(a) a horizontal-format symbol for optimal appearance on computer screens,
(b) a vertical-format symbol for optimal appearance on vertical-positioned tablets, I guess, and
(c) a smaller vertical-format symbol for I-Phones/Smart-Phones.
Select either of these three symbols according to your preference.
2. Also, one can turn on or off the comment sections for every single “post”, and also “page” (such as “Home” or “Contact Us” etc.) separately. Simply go that page (e.g., “Contact Us”, and you can also change that title, by the way), click on “Edit”, then click inside the top bar, “Classic” for classic editor, then inside the menu on the right, click “Page” (as opposed to “Block” for block editor) and then in that new menu, click Discussion, and you then click on either “Open” or “Closed”. And this setting then applies only for that particular page (or post).
3. There is even a function that says “Patterns” (which may only work for pay customers, which you obviously are). Don’t know exactly what that’s for. It needs to be explored. Go to “Appearance”, and then click “Patterns”.
4. One can also customise, for the entire blog, one’s font size (I personally find the font size in your texts unnecessarily large) as well as font type!
For this, go to “Appearance”, then click on “Customise”, then on “Fonts”, and there you can choose separately for the headings and for the base font, the font size and also the font type.
5. As a pay customer, maybe one can even change the horizonatal ratio between the permanent image on the left and the text on the right, but I wouldn’t know that. Much better would certainly be a division by sectio aurea (or “golden ratio”), meaning 1 (for the image on the left) to 1.618 (for the text on the right) or, by percent: 38.2% for the image vs. 61.8% for the text.
It’s not so difficult. One only has to invest a little bit of extra time and effort to fully explore all the many options offered by WordPress.
The alternative, of course, would be to have an office secretary or webmaster so as to not be bothered with these annoying secularities.
When I transitioned to the current theme my control panel updated. I no longer have an “appearance” button as before. I am using themes and it is not possible to change the basic design of a theme. They are set. There were limitations I did not like with the old theme, and people complained. There are limitations with this one, and one person has complained. I do not think the site is unreadable or even difficult to read, and I have looked at it on three different platforms. As for a search function on the Website, I do not think themes allow you to add functions. On this site I tried to add “About,” but you cannot do it. You have to take the theme as a whole or leave it. With the previous site I hated the fact that block quotes were in giant letters. This arrangement is more to my taste. I have looked at many themes, and all of them have things I do not like. I am not a web designer, that is why I rely on themes. If I had the time to become a programmer and designer, I would do that instead of research and writing. I am sorry if the layout does not please everyone.
An example of a conventional computer screen partitioned from left to right by golden ratio (1 : 1.618 or 38.2 % vs. 61.8 %):

Anyway, I have a question about the pro-West and anti-West language they created.
They begin to speak against the West and the conservatives respond by defending “the West”. In doing so, are we falling into the enemy’s terms and speaking in his language, reinforcing their speech? It’s like trying to fight communism by defending only capitalism, when capitalism is just an economic byproduct, far from being the main basis of civilized nations. There is no real entity called “the West”, there are nations, each with a particular heritage. Would the issue be better managed by not adopting the cloak of the West, but using their language as proof that they desire the destruction of individual nations as a whole, territorially situated in the West, or even against those on the East, but eager to liberate themselves.
Jeff, not sure if you can comment, I have been reading books written on the Hong Kong protests of 2019 and have noticed something very dire, many of them dismiss the theme of controlled opposition and also the fact that they dismiss the number people killed or missing and the role of Ministry of State Security agents being deployed into Hong Kong is horrifying. When I contacted Hong Kong advocacy groups such as Hong Kong watch and the Hong Kong Democracy Council in the US and academics on why is there no mention that the Hong Kong Protest in 2019 being a campaign of murder and the role of controlled opposition and articles written by Hong Kong people trying to warn the West that the Hong Kong Democracy Movement is controlled opposition

Alex: it is important for the communists to cover their tracks, and many in the West are happy to help them — usually out of willful ignorance.
‘Many in the West are happy to help them — usually out of willful ignorance’.
Got that right. It’s, of course, very unfortunate. (I hope I don’t sound glib here)
It’s terribly unfortunate and frustrating.
Yes.
Not sure if this is going to be a duplicate, but it looked like I received an error message so forgive me for repeating myself.
Jeff, I enjoyed the essay very much. It brought to mind past interviews you have done with Jimmy from Brooklyn. He talked about the KGB roots of the PLO being tied to the Lebanese Resistance Movement.
I made a transcript because I thought what was said was so important of much of the 10/2/23 interview you did with Jimmy. Here is the portion where he begins talking about PLO history. It starts about the middle of the first paragraph. He starts out talking about Reagan and Gorbachev and then jumps to the PLO.
JIMMY: Well, there’s sort of a self-censorship, too. People accuse me of being anti-Reagan, I am pro-American. At the end, Reagan was starting to slip into dementia. People could ignore that, but the result was that that was a major ramification (?). Remember they purged out of the Reagan administration: Gene Kirkpatrick, Frank Gaffney, and others who didn’t trust the Soviets. So, we embraced Gorbachev and two years later or so, in 1992, Westminster College, in Fulton, Missouri, Gorbachev made a speech. Now you could read the speech, but it’s better if you actually see him speaking and there is a translator translating it as he’s speaking. It did not look like a concession speech. Gorbachev was telling you what they were going to do now, what the world is. And he was talking about getting a global tax, about funding the UN, building a peace force for the UN to enforce the peace, and he was calling for a new world order and said that’s what was coming. That was Gorbachev. Now here in 1983 , I know I’m jumping around a bit, but the PLO which we are hearing more about, but when you read the Soviet publications, you get a strong hint when they talk about the PLO, because you can see from what they are writing that basically the PLO was mostly the Communist party of Lebanon. Let me just read a couple sentences here. Now I am going to read the first name. The last name is hard to pronounce. You know these foreign names. So, this in memory of a guy named Nicholas whatever. He died. So, in the Soviet publication, it says “Nicholas whatever, chairman of the Lebanese Communist Party, an esteemed personality of the International Communist working class movement has died.” Reading further down. “Nicholas did much to consolidate and develop the Arab National Liberation movement. He was prominent in the Afro-Asian Solidarity movement, and he was one of the founders of the Lebanese Peace Committee.” It goes further down. “He was championing the just cause of Arab Palestinian people fighting under leadership of their legitimate representative, the Palestinian Liberation Organization. He played a large role in the work of Lebanese Communists and organized the heroic repression of Israeli aggression.” So this is a Soviet publication, talking about a Lebanese Communist, working for Lebanese liberation. They mention the PLO in the same line as the Communist party. So, this is a hint. Anybody reading this (16:06)
In another publication, we believe, when Reagan sent U. S. Marines into Lebanon and they were all stationed in a big building, like a hotel, then a terror bombing blew up the building and 283 Marines died, I believe we said it was Hezbollah. But in a Communist publication they say, and they write it was the Lebanese Communist party’s actions that made the Marines flee Lebanon. Basically, what they are saying without actually saying it, but anybody who reads it will understand, they are saying that it was the Lebanese Communist Party that made the Marines leave Lebanon, and we said that was Hezbollah. Well sometimes, the Communists work in groups and have other names. The Syrian Communist Party works under a group called the Syrian Renaissance Party, so that’s the Bath party, which is the Socialist Party, and also the Communist Party. They work with deception, false fronts. This is how they are so effective.
So, the Communist Party totally penetrated the Democrat party which they have already been into since at least WWII and prior to WWII, but the Communist Party, right around the time the Communist Party was supposedly collapsing, the American Communist Party made a major push and got pretty much control through enormous influence in the Democrat party. That’s how you have people in the Democrat party toppling our economic system, coming up and basically using Gramsci’s strategies.
NYQUIST: Yeah, it’s very interesting, Jimmy. You know, I wonder how at the time I wondered at the time, and I know people were carried away by events. How is it possible that people can believe the tens of millions, 30 million Communist Party members in the Soviet Union do? Did they wake up one morning and say, “We’re all going to Church. We’re all going to worship Jesus now. They really gave up their Communist ideas, you know? And all of a sudden, they flipped on a dime. They could only have done that if they were under discipline and they were ordered ‘this is our strategy. This is what we’re doing.’
So, in my haste to repost my comment, I forgot to pose my question. Do you stand by Jimmy’s account of the PLO history and does that add further evidence to your thesis about the Russians involvement in wanting to control Middle Eastern politics as well as stoking the migrant crisis in Europe? If this is true, what has the US done in terms of counter measures ?
Jimmy’s information about certain PLO leaders being out of the Lebanese Communist Party is something I had not read before. Jimmy is getting this out of a communist publication, and he often quotes directly from these publications. I am not sure if they would lie about such a detail. I had noticed and wondered that PLO cadre from the period when they were based out of Jordan, that the PLO had a lot of Arabs from Lebanon in top positions (although Arafat was an Egyptian). The Romanian intelligence defector, Ion Pacepa, confirmed what others have claimed about Arafat; namely, that he was trained in Moscow and worked with the communist bloc. This is not exactly news, and the Lebanese communist connection to certain PLO officials does not seem all that important. Arabs live in many countries, and can claim to be from any of them. There is not a history of these “nations” as they were formed after World War I having been under the Turkish Empire. But I have no detailed knowledge of the various sects, communist cells, and conspiracies that formed these Middle East terrorist groups. I only know the Soviet Union supported many of them, and Russia continues to do so today.
To further answer your question: Does the history of the Middle East add evidence to the thesis about Moscow wanting to control the Region? Does it help to explain the migrant crisis? Has the U.S. engaged any countermeasures? The reason I bring up these subjects is the strong sense I have that there are no countermeasures, that our experts have misunderstood what they are seeing. I know how analysts are trained as I was at a major university in a Ph.D. Program; and I saw how the blinders were put in graduate students by professors who were Marxists. Marxism is not inquiry, though it pretends to be. It is indoctrination that prevents people from seeing reality. And it is only an issue because our lives and our country may be at stake. It just seems so obvious that our smart people should already know all this. Our political leaders should know. But they don’t. It’s frustrating that rather than readily debunking people like Jimmy, they dismiss him without taking a closer look.
Thanks, Jeff. I appreciate that insight “Marxism is not inquiry, though it pretends to be.” Yes, our state department seems to work overtime in making sure we don’t question their policies.
Just watched Topaz…very interesting movie. Thanks for the recommendation. It’s interesting how the lies caught up with the Russian agents. Hopefully, that will happen in real life.
I sent you my latest blog about the USS LIBERTY tragedy. It contains some never published photos so take a look when you have time.
Yes, I read your piece about the Israeli attack in the USS Liberty. I have a footnote for you on the reasons for the attack. I need a little time to prepare it.
One of your best essays right here, and thanks to Dr. Cernea. I really don’t know what else to say other than we are in big trouble.
I wish more people looked at the details we found.
The West is a bit of a madhouse. We have a good portion of Western leftists claiming to be opposed to Putin when they support virtually every agenda Putin’s agents of influence push on the West (cripple energy production, keep borders open and insecure, support absurd and disastrous economic ideas like UBI/UBH, and the list goes on). They have an incredible hubris, complacency, and foolishness when it comes to Russia, China, Iran, and their allies even if they do one thing right with their strong support of Ukraine and President Zelensky.
And then you have those on the right which recognize and oppose the absurd agendas being pushed by communists and the left but are naive and foolish enough to believe Putin — the very one responsible for pushing these agendas — is the one who will save us from them! Common Russians laugh at these people. They can only dream of things like freedom of speech, and most outside of Moscow and SPB are impoverished.
Fortunately people do seem to be slowly waking up, on both the left and right, to the reality of the situation. And the Ukrainians really seem to be giving the Russians absolute hell. So there are many encouraging things going on too.
I guess I just needed to blow off some steam. I realize I’m just preaching to the choir here.
Thank you very much for your writings and analysis Mr. Nyquist and Dr. Cernea.
Thankyou, t1K. Your commentary is much appreciated. I feel what you are saying very strongly, and it’s good to see that I am not alone in seeing it.
Worse, many on the so-called right (what I call the MAGA fringe) are supporting Putin’s subversion.
Yes. Too many are falling for the Russian talking points.

Mr Nyquist, I recently did research on how close Nazis and Soviets were and still are. I found out that many European elites, who were connected to Nazi Germany, later transfer their support to USSR and even present day Russia (Neo-Soviets).
The founder of IKEA was deeply investing into Communist Poland, while his youth years were spending times with Nazis in Sweden.

The guy was profiting from state-owned enterprises in the communist bloc. He is the prime example on everything wrong with our capitalist addiction to China, Russia, Vietnam for cheap labor and materials.
Nafia: Your research aligns with my own. And yes, unprincipled capitalists are easily seduced by offers of cheap labor and raw materials from communist countries.
Nafia: I approved your comment right away and answered it, and here I find the system bounced it back to unapproved. I hope this sticks.
Cliff Kincaid writes a great piece. Truth that will be revealed soon.
Again, I am not a Trump supporter, never been, but echo his thoughts.
Trump has a past of “shitting” on America’s founding principles (keyword “a past”). He’s no better being in control than the Communist-controlled Democrat Party in the United States of America. 2024 campaign, he has already caved to the LGBTQ crowd, currently campaigning in favor….he has a past of caving to the 2nd Amendment via red flag laws, and lastly, today and yesterday, is pro Putin, pro Russia, wants to end NATO. And yet….the ignorant masses, supporters, here in America, plant their MAGA flags here in rural America, wear their Redneck baseball caps “Trump 2024 Make America Great Again”, and spew their bullsh*t ignorance to what I’ve already listed.
99% of these idiots know nothing about that lil ol’ lady Vera Coking, ie, Eminent Domain and the $ and influence he used to push her out and off her personal property to build a limousine parking garage to compliment his casino. She sued, Trump lost. Thank God!
My grandfather’s father lost his farm in Arkansas courtesy eminent domain…these f*cking politicians, local, State, Federal levels? All traitors to this country and our actual Constitution. Lobbyists, communist players control everything. Corruption…but Trump is just another one of them.
https://www.trevorloudon.com/2024/06/trump-is-a-marked-man/
Just read Kincaid’s piece about Trump being a marked man. Maybe…but this campaign he’s not a friend to his former conservative base. Supports LGBTQ agenda, red flag laws (previous presidency) and pro Putin, pro Russia, anti Ukraine, anti NATO.
So, I don’t wish him harm but he’s pretty disingenuous to his conservative Republican base who supported him in the past.
So Donald J Trump has a history. Most of his rabid supporters know nothing of his past history of using his power, money, and influence via eminent domain to push out a lil ol’ lady named Vera Coking all for a parking garage for his nearby casino . She sued, Trump lost.
How long do we continue to settle for “lesser of 2 evils” in the WH?
I argue that we need to work harder at the local levels…state level. We all know the Federal level is corrupt from top to bottom, so why do we continue (every 4 years) to waste conversations about a change at that level?
Hey Jeff, maybe you can pass this along to your friend Trevor Loudon that he should “allow” comments on his own site, posts via WordPress, specifically those by Cliff Kincaid.
Cliff is great, has some great articles, but let’s (Cliff, Trevor, or whomever) be willing to listen to opinions of like-minded folks these days. Even if it doesn’t agree.
This bs of “comments closed” all the time is exactly what the Communists do. And yet the 30-something’s in charge of these social sites today…don’t have experience , history, or an effing clue. Or…maybe the likes of a Cliff Kincaid dictates “no comments” on Word Press because he’s not willing to engage anyone that disagrees.
Regardless, I’m gonna stop even reading his comments, buying any of his books, if this is how he’s gonna continue his efforts or treat his followers, supporters .
These guys forget sometimes that they would be nothing without supporters reading, buying their books. If he has forgotten this foundation? He’s just as much an enemy as the one he warns others about.
I trust no one these days without verifying the information they write about. Cliff Kincaid should remember his fans and followers of his work. I trust this blog and the information presented. I’ve personally verified sources and am able to contact the man who owns the blog.
None of my writer friends do what I do here in terms of having an open comments section. Why? Because it is a lot of work, and mischief-makers can really grind you down. They raise non-issues to stir people against each other, and you get all manner of off-topic discussions where the narrative is guided back to some pet conspiracy theory or religious controversy — completely eclipsing the other content. So I don’t blame anyone who closes the comments section. In my case, I get a lot from my readers. They catch mistakes that I make. They demand things that I should have done. And they come up with sources I have not seen. So the discussion section is educational, and it is often amazing. We have some great contributions here.
Trump is a curious combination plate. The only question is whether he is an improvement over Biden. We ought to have someone better, of course. And if you’ve read Richard Weaver’s books, you begin to understand why we have choices of this kind.
Got it. Beans and bullets. I’m sick of the political bs.
Did you notice the Rusky warships toured the East Coast, circling for a landing in Havana? Do you suppose they might have any of those SATAN 2 mach 20 hypersonic missiles with nuclear armed multiple war head hypersonic gliders? There the Russian Navy sits a few short miles from Miami, in flagrant violation of the Monroe Doctrine. Are NATO weapons located anywhere near that close to Russia?
I wonder if we were to talk with Russia, might we get them to go home, if we get NATO out of Eastern Europe, or if former Soviet satellites and Warsaw Pact countries could see the wisdom of declining US foreign aid while withdrawing from NATO membership?
@THE you can’t be serious if you care one whit about the Ukrainians fighting for their lives, for Poland, for the Baltic States, Moldova, and even Germany. Putin is INTENT. Our only recourse is to convince him through the massive support of the US and Europe that we are not going to stop supporting Ukraine.
These countries who have recently joined NATO are making a statement to Russia and the world.
How do you stop a bully? You beat the living crap out of him to the point he thinks he is going to die. Bullies only pick on people who don’t fight back.
In John Loftus and Mark Aaron’s book, “The Secret War Against the Jews,” we have some details about the USS Liberty attack. Their sources are retired intelligence officials from various countries. I take what they write with a grain of salt, because they do not always show the best judgment when analyzing their sources, but there is often some truth in what the authors present. And their version of what happened makes perfect sense.
On page 269 the story of the USS Liberty begins to unfold. To their dismay, the Israelis discovered that President Johnson was double-crossing them by deploying a spy ship against Israel. Johnson wanted to win over the Egyptian president, and offered to provide secret intelligence to Egypt and Syria on Israeli troop movements and aircraft. It was on 4 June 1967 that the CIA told the Egyptian military that they would provide secret intelligence on Israel. The CIA’s messenger said this was on President Johnson’s orders that Egypt receive the most vital and up-to-date information. The Egyptians were cynical about this offer from Johnson, who was trying to curry favor. They reportedly laughed at the American offer, thinking their own capabilities were so superior to the Israelis that they could fly over Israel themselves and get whatever they needed.
On the eve of the Israeli attack, King Hussein of Jordan called Nasser to tell him that the CIA had just alerted him that Israel was going to attack in the morning. Oddly, President Nasser laughed at King Hussein’s intelligence. He apparently believed the Nazi and Soviet propaganda, that America was a Jewish puppet state. The warnings from the CIA were therefore a Jewish trick. Of course, Nasser would soon learn that he was wrong.
On the morning of 5 June, 1967, Israeli aircraft wiped out the Egyptian air force — almost in one strike. Then they turned and destroyed the Syrian air force. Without air recon the Egyptian Army did not see what was coming at them on the ground. The Egyptian Army suffered serious losses on the ground, then the Syrians and Jordanians began to suffer losses. Without airpower they were all blind.
The Egyptian generals, desperate for intelligence, turned to the CIA for the promised intelligence. Nasser was not laughing anymore. On 8 June, the fourth day of the Six Day War, the USS Liberty arrived off the Sinai coast. It represented Egypt’s last chance to rally its troops.
The USS Liberty was an electronic monitoring ship capable of overhearing all the radio traffic in the combat areas. Sources say that the Americans and British were putting together a battle map from the Liberty’s data — in real time — showing all the Israeli military movements. They could do this by piecing together all the radio messages. The USS Liberty was one of the most advanced spy vessels in the world. It was sending the coded traffic to computer banks and teams of analysts in Cyprus for analysis. Sources say the crew of the Liberty did not know this was how their monitoring of messages was being used, or to whom it might be collated and given. The crew of the Liberty had no idea that President Johnson was using them in a double game.
At that time the British operated one of the world’s largest intelligence listening posts in Cyprus. They were downloading the USS Liberty’s transmissions, decoding the Israeli radio traffic and collating it. Using voiceprint technology they could identify Israeli commanders and units. The British were with the Americans in wanting to help the Arab side. Why were they so eager? ARAB OIL. The West knew on what side their bread was buttered. Nasser was friends with the Saudis. London and Washington wanted to let the Arab leaders know on what side they really stood.
Loftus and Aarons wrote, “Our sources insist that, with the Liberty’s assistance, the Arabs might have been able to turn the war around to some extent or at least force an honorable stalemate. For the first time they would know as much as or more than the Israeli generals did themselves about the movements of the Israeli army. The Arab generals would have details of every Israeli counterstrategy…. They would have every Israeli battle order in real time.” [p. 271]
Israel was already angered by the CIA leaking to King Hussein of Jordan. Israel was lucky Nasser did not take the CIA warning seriously. But now the Arabs were eager to use American intelligence resources.
In June 1967 Israel had to fight a two-front (or three-front war), and did not have enough troops to cover the fronts without bluffing a little. And now they saw the Americans giving Israeli positions away. Indeed, this might prove fatal for a small country surrounded on three sides.
General Moshe Dayan was under pressure to storm the Golan Heights held by the Syrians. He refused to begin this operation unless the USS Liberty was put out of commission. At the same time, the Egyptians and Syrians were now unwilling to commit to a ceasefire as long as the USS Liberty was feeding them intelligence that might give them a stalemate in place of a humiliating defeat.
When an Egyptian general avoided encirclement, and Israeli generals believed his success was due to the USS Liberty, it was the last straw. Whether or not the Egyptians were able to make use of the American intelligence (via the British computers in Cyprus), they had learned about the activities of the USS Liberty and decided to put it out of action.
At an emergency session of the Israeli war cabinet, evidence was presented that President Johnson had betrayed Israel and the USS Liberty was a threat to the safety of thousands of Israeli soldiers engaged in fighting. The operation against the Syrian army in the Golan Heights might cost Israel 25,000 dead if the Liberty gave away Israeli troop positions. The Israeli cabinet therefore postponed the Golan operation for 24 hours. They rejected the idea of a diplomatic protest to Washington, which would merely meet with denials from Johnson. They had proof of what was happening, but they did not want to expose their own methods of intelligence collection. They had no time to wait as the Arabs still had more strength on the ground. Please note: In those days there were a billion Muslims and only 3 million Israelis.
This was a difficult business. The Israeli war cabinet did not want to drown 300 American sailors, which would have happened if they had blown the ship out of the water (which they easily could have done). They opted, instead, on napalm, light rockets, and torpedoes. Americans would be killed, but most of the sailors would survive and the ship would nonetheless be disabled. If American casualties could be kept to a few dozen, reasoned the war cabinet, the incident might be treated less seriously by the American government. Thus, the order came down to disable the USS Liberty.
As interesting sidenote, half the Israeli squadron refused to fly that mission against an American ship, as they had friends and relatives in America. The ones that did fly were heartsick. Two of the Israeli pilots suffered nervous breakdowns after the attack.
When the attack was underway, an Israeli intelligence official paid a surprise call on his CIA counterpart. He told him they were attacking the USS Liberty and why. At that moment the U.S. Joint Chiefs were deciding on an immediate retaliation against Israel when the CIA informed them the reason for the attack. They realized that the Israelis had proof of what the USS Liberty was doing off the Sinai coast. The United States had, effectively, committed an act of war against Israel — a country we claimed to favor against countries that were supported by our adversary, the Soviet Union.
There was no plausible deniability in this case. The Johnson Administration quickly covered its tracks. As long as the Americans kept quiet, the Israelis kept quiet. Everyone lied about what happened. The first and most obvious lie was about the reason for the USS Liberty snooping on the Six Day War. The Pentagon said the ship was there to facilitate the evacuation of American citizens during the war. Later the Pentagon implied we were spying on the Egyptians to learn about Soviet military equipment. Yet, there was no risk to American citizens in the region, and there was no need to spy on Egypt’s second-rate Soviet equipment. The U.S. knew everything there was to know about that equipment already.
Here is the icing on the cake: On 2 June 1967, three days before the Six Day War, the Liberty had received a special three-man team aboard. They were from the NSA. The senior officer among them was known as “the Major.” The Navy had no control over their mission, which was secret. And here is the kicker: This three-man team were experts in Hebrew.
This version of what happened may or may not be true. But it is the most plausible explanation I have ever read. It is plausible because President Johnson acted embarrassed, even guilty, in the wake of the event. And he would not have acted in this way if he was not guilty of something.
THE: No one has any interaction towards your inflammatory bs comments here, as usual. Go home you Communist bastard!
Jeff,
Thank you for that great nugget from Loftus and Aaron’s book. I had not heard that, but it sent me back to James Ennes’ book. Ennes has his own theories. One fact seems certain. President Johnson said the USA would not support Israel if Israel initiated hostilities. On May 24, 1967, Johnson met with Israel ‘s Foreign Minister Abba Eban at the White House. “The purpose of Eban’s visit was to advise the President of an impending all-out attack against Israel by the United Arab Republic and determine what support Israel might expect from the United States. ” (p.209)
Ennes says the meeting must have been “disappointing. ” Johnson said, “The central point, Mr. Minister, is that your nation not be the one to bear responsibility for any outbreak of war.” Then, he added, “Israel will not be alone unless it decides to go alone.” Johnson then repeated those words.
Ennes makes no mention of the NSA coming aboard the ship or Johnson trying to influence Nasser by bribing him with US intelligence.
Ennes believes the ship was attacked because the Israeli forces were assembling to attack Syrian artillerymen who had shelled Israeli settlements for many years. Ennes writes, “The Syrian defenses were more than ten miles deep, consisting of row upon row of emplacements, cannon, tanks, tank traps, rocket launchers, and antiaircraft guns.” ( on the Golan Heights)
So Israeli troops were poised to attack the Syrians as the Liberty approached. “It was to be a major assault,” Ennes writes, “under the worst tactical conditions against a well-entrenched enemy who commanded all the high ground. ” (p.210-211) Israel did not want the US to know its plans and delayed the attack after they disabled the USS Liberty.
The other theory that Ennes writes several years later for The Washington Post Report on Middle East Affairs (May/June 1996) He writes, “According to eyewitness accounts by Israeli officers and journalists, the Israeli Army –the army that claims to hold itself to a higher moral standard than other armies — executed as many as 1,000 Arab prisoners during the 1967 war.” The USS Liberty was possibly able to witness this atrocity and had to be put out of commission.
The Israeli government compensated all the families of the 34 dead $3.3 million dollars and compensated the 171 injured in additional monies. Most of the crew is now dead or in their 70s and 80s. Will we ever know what really happened?
If Loftus and Aaron are right, that is more ammo against Johnson’s leadership. Perhaps this incident contributed to his guilt as well as his Vietnam policies.
I don’t like to think ill of Israel or our government. But there were planes and ships nearby to help the USS LIBERTY and the White House ordered them to stand down.
I suppose the policy of both governments that “I won’t talk about this and point fingers at you if you don’t talk about it either, ” is tragic. But as Jack Nicholson once said, “Truth? You can’t handle the truth.”
It sounds like there is plenty of scandal to go around. We must always remember that in life-and-death situations, leaders can take violent and unpredictable actions. Tragedy often results when fear and anger weigh down decision-makers.
The SATAN 2 is a land-based missile system. Of course, Russian submarines could lay waste to the East Coast when they get the order.
Do you mean the whole East Coast, or just parts of it? Because I thought that you had said that the people who need to worry most about a Chinese/Russian invasion of the U.S. are Californians/West Coasters.
I am not referring to an invasion of the East Coast. Most Russian submarines are in the Atlantic rather than the Pacific. The Russians have stocked their Kursk Class attack submarines with a massive number of nuclear warheads, according to the Norwegian divers who helped raise the Kursk from the ocean floor (after its tragic sinking in 2000). Thus, the Russians carry a nuclear arsenal in miniature on attack submarines as well as boomers. With this kind of strike force they could inflict wicked punishment on the urban centers of the Eastern seaboard if they wanted to. I am not saying they want to, or that it makes strategic sense. But it’s an option they have.
Terror is always an option.

Mr. Nyquist please comment on what you see as the short term and long term impact of Saudi Arabian Crown Prince and Minister of Defense Mohammed bin Salman’s decision not to renew the lapsed security agreement which was signed by the United States and Saudi Arabia on 8 June 1974. That agreement established two joint commissions, one on economic co-operation and the other on Saudi Arabia’s military needs.

The problem with the communist bloc has always been their financial bungling. They are so corrupt, so economically incompetent, you can almost guarantee unhappy customers at the other end of most agreements. Their markets are not really free, and therefore not sufficiently creative and successful as they might otherwise seem. To dominate trade in inferior goods and natural resources is not exactly dominance of the commanding heights. There are some things they do well. There is the help that they receive from certain billionaires. But as good will dries up, they had better own the markets. They had better get Japan and Europe to join them. If not, they will be the one’s facing dire economic circumstances.
Hi Jeff,
I thought you might find this interesting.
https://www.semafor.com/article/06/14/2024/what-a-chinese-port-in-peru-means-for-washington
“The Peruvian ambassador to the US told the outlet that “one hundred percent of Lima’s electricity is owned by China, many of the copper mining projects are owned by China,” adding, “the United States has noticed this. But it’s not enough to notice it, action is needed.””
“Beijing is so invested in the port that Chinese leader Xi Jinping is expected to attend its inauguration. ”
Hey, someone want to loan me a M82/rounds, a few drones and a spotter?
I’m only half joking. See, I figure the communists are everywhere, doesn’t matter where you fight them, there’s always a target rich environment. More Lone Wolves that understand the situation the better since the US government is inept.
“COSCO threatened last month to pull out of the deal if it doesn’t retain full control over the port, Foreign Policy noted.”
This port will be used to smuggle people and weapons to be used against the USA.
Any one of these sea containers can house missiles complexes. Peru is a very short flight time for missiles traveling to the US.
The agreement signed between China’s COSCO Shipping Ports and the Peruvian government has given the firm total control over its operations, due to an “administrative error” in the paperwork included by negotiators
I doubt there was any administrative error, Communist Peruvian president Boularte’s purpose is to open the door for the Chinese, it seems. She’s a corrupt communist Trojan horse.
It seems soft Peru has been chosen as the main entry point for the Chinese.
Why? It has 4 US bases and is the most friendly South American country to the US. If Peru falls, USA has no more friends left in South America except maybe Guyana.

Grey Knight: Sounds like a quote from Marine General Lewis “Chesty” Puller!!!!
“Great. Now we can shoot at those bastards from every direction.”
Yes, that is Chesty Puller!
Peru is therefore TARGET NO. 1
Mr Nyquist, I am also quite eager to know your opinion on this saudi petrodollar issue. Is it as serious as some people are making it appear? From time to time we hear news on the chinese and the russians supposedly dethroning the dollar, waging economic war on the US and similar language.
I think it is potentially serious when we look at the U.S. rising inflation rate. The rest of the world is absorbing this inflation. If the U.S. currency was not the world’s trading currency we would have much higher inflation. The key point here is that inflation destroys an economy. Deflation heals it. And the healing is painful. The communists want our economy to crash, and they want no healing.
I watched this video of the new threats against the West being spouted by Russian propagandists on state TV. These are in response to the decision to “allow” Ukraine to conduct a few limited strikes in Russia (more on that below). If our mainstream media started regularly showing Russian state TV clips like these, more than a few new converts might be cured of their infatuation.
Even though most people in the West wouldn’t be watching Russian state TV, the threats seem to be tailored to specific groups. There is a difference between the threats issued to Germany at the beginning (min 3) and those to Poland at the end. Solovyov appeals to the German people’s historical memory, reminding them that it was due to two Soviet leaders that Germany remained a state after WWII and was reunited in 1990. But if the Germans don’t stop supporting Ukraine, “then you know how this story will end.” Presumably Russia will march right over there and divide Germany again, after levelling a few cities just as in Ukraine. Curious how the propagandists portray Russia as a better friend to Germany than the West (supposedly the Allies didn’t want Germany to continue as a state while Stalin did), while at the same time threatening its existence. Meanwhile Solovyov’s friends are more blunt with Poland. With only 30-40 nuclear warheads the Polish state, the people and the language will be wiped off the face of the earth, one commenter notes. Are the genocidal threats to the Poles a sick latent appeal to the German people’s wartime memory? Jeff, you mentioned before that the Kremlin’s outreach to Germans is very carefully tailored to play on lingering resentment of WWII guilt-shaming, which is also why we hear so much Hitleresque denigration of Poland. In the John Moore radio show Thomas even said something about Russia threatening to withdraw from a key WWII treaty that affects Germany. Can you comment on the implications of this? Does this threat tie into East German separatism and the growth of the AfD?

In this interview Gen. Philip Breedlove says that the permission given to Ukraine is more limited than was made out to be, basically they are only allowed to strike in Russia around the Kharkiv area to stop Russia’s offensive. Ukraine is still not being given an advantage to defeat Russia, so the basic tenets of the war haven’t changed. And yet Russian TV is having a nuclear meltdown over this. It’s pure intimidation, and they’ll use any pretext because they know such intimidation works on the West.

Laura, I don’t see a link to the Russian state tv video, only to that of Gen. Breedlove. Could you provide that?

Of course, the Russians lies continue. They will taint the facts with false narratives piled on false narratives. The threats to Germany are coupled with flattery — with hints at a Russian-German alliance, of the rightness of Germany’s invasion of Poland in 1939. It could be so simple for Germany, say the Russians. Join with your natural ally, Russia. In East Germany, where the strongest Russian allies still reside, the old Stasi networks are buzzing with optimistic chatter about Russian troops returning. It sounds crazy, right? Well, that’s what the German communists are counting on. The communists think they are going to be in control of Germany in the not-too-distant future. This bluff confidence has been redoubled since they have successfully colonized half of the German right. How curious it all is. Withdrawing from the treaty that ended World War II is such an odd idea. Imagine the President of the United States, in 1944, threatening to go back and retroactively refuse to accept the surrender of the Confederate generals in 1865 that ended the U.S. Civil War. Imagine, on that ground, President Roosevelt authorizing the US Army to occupy the Southern States. The American Civil War had ended 79 years earlier, and hardly anyone who fought that war was still alive. As much time exists between ourselves and the end of World War II as then existed between Roosevelt and the Civil War. You cannot go back three generations and undo the ending of a war because you want to redraw the map. But that’s what the Russians are proposing.
Here is the criminal logic of people who have no respect for solemn agreements, and who level charges against their victims at every turn. Russia’s intention to own Europe is clearly demonstrated in these media clips.
Solovyov is a beast.
Thanks for the link, Jeff.
I, too, found this repost very impressive. The more so given the time that has elapsed since you first published it. I read it then, but have learned so much from you in the interim. I appreciate your perseverance amidst slings and arrows more than I can say.
Thank you, Deborah. We so desperately need to convey this complicated story to the world. Communist strategy turns out to be a very difficult subject. Learning it is like learning a language. And if you do not learn, you will succumb to the same old tricks again and again.
Jeff Nyquist: If the Russians are putting their narrative to hint the occupation of Europe under them, then their next plan will be the genocide of Europeans to attain the dominance over the continent?
I think they want Europeans Alive — as slaves.
I was afraid of that.
I’m also afraid that those who are left alive after a potential Chinese invasion of the U.S. will be enslaved as well.
According to the secret speech of Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian, China intends to exterminate the American population. A few survivors might be used as slave labor, of course. But how many Americans would accept living in slavery? I would not expect many to endure it.
Yes, I understand that. But what do you do with 100-200 million or so people who are left over from such an event? It’s really grim stuff, but I can’t help thinking about it sometimes, and pondering such questions.
What do you do with those who survive the initial assault? You can take your time killing them off by half a dozen different methods.
@JRNyquist: You’ll have to forgive my macabre, dramatic imagination and thought process.
I hope I didn’t offend you. I wasn’t trying to be provocative.
No, I am not easily offended. It’s very grim to contemplate the destruction of a country with so many people. But I believe our enemies want to achieve this against us.
Recently you (Jeff) wrote about how even Jeltsin expressed the desire to control europe. I just saw this old interview with the former Swedish prime minister, where he talks about the 3-day visit Jesltsin made to Sweden.
According to Göran Persson Jelstin grabbed him and threatened him that the Swedes need to import Russian gas. The European import of gas was apparently extremely important to Jeltsin.
Heres the video maybe you can get it translated (part about Russia starts at 5:40): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1xadpx0Z_g
Very interesting, Mex. The Russians have played so many sneaky games. Everybody always misses the important bits. Force natural gas down Sweden’s throat, then use their future dependence to blackmail them. Thankfully Swedes are not as naive as Germans.
There is so, much Natural Gas in the United States, that oil drillers will pay you to haul it away. We should replace most every other energy source with it.
Very disturbing, if off-topic: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13519319/migrant-gang-invasion-ISIS-LA-Venezuela-sex-traffickers-Texas-Chinese-drug-Maine.html

This goes back to the last post that you made because I think it is important to acknowledge Brian McAdam. He paid a terrible price for whistle-blowing. Hopefully this story doesn’t die out but the likelihood is great now that he has passed away. I really don’t see how it could gain a foothold with prominent people like Justin Trudeau appointed senator Peter Harder involved in making sure Brian was black balled and all the powerful Chinese thugs involved. This turned my stomach while reading. Too many people are making too much money for anything to change. Too many envelopes being slipped into decision makers hands.
McAdam was the man I heard on Vancouver radio attempting to warn his countrymen. This is how I learned of Sidewinder.
Years ago, I followed Roy Beck, who gave easy to understand, great illustrations of immigration here to the U.S. via gumballs.

@brccc661 these are both excellent. Everyone in our country should see these.
Absolutely
America’s Fighting Sheep Dogs are under Assault by the Red Vampire Wolf Packs. Secretary of the Army Christine Wormuth is concerned about the risk of “developing a warrior caste”. She is thereby providing Aid and Comfort to the Communist enemy. Christine Wormuth has never served in the armed forces.

Pressure from Above and Pressure from Below. Mr. Nyquist please comment on this article which describes Regime Change in the U.S. Armed Forces. “A New Regime is Taking Over Our Military” by Chase Spears. https://tomklingenstein.com/a-new-regime-is-taking-over-our-military/
I have written extensively about this woke garbage in the U.S. military. It is toxic and will lead to civil war if not stopped.
Very good article on the 1992 Moldovan-Russian war over Transnistria. Igor Girkin got his feet wet in that war. It’s clear that the whole conflict, complete with artificial polarization of the Russian language issue, was orchestrated by Moscow, just as in 2014 in the Donbas.

And just as with Ukraine today, Russian soldiers and commanders claimed to be fighting ‘fascists’ controlled by the Moldovan ‘regime’.

Old video footage of Russian POWs explaining the reason for “arrival” as “war against fascists (called români) and protection or Russian-speaking people in Moldova” for 3k rubbles per month. [Romanian subtitles]
Be sure to check out the 1992 video of Russian general Lebed railing against Moldovan ‘fascists’.
Here is Lavrov now, adding fresh lies to 30-year old propaganda.

Lavrov threatens “Moldovan regime” over Transnistria. He compares Moldova with Ukraine and says that “the situation is identical.”
Moscow has perfected the art of creating ethnic conflicts centered on Russian-speakers and Slavs. You only briefly mentioned this in the 1990’s Friends & Enemies episode, but maybe you can talk more about how Moscow was behind the 1990’s Yugoslav and Kosovo wars. This was a major news story at that time and led to NATO involvement in the Balkans. Later on, we found out that Al-Qaeda was getting its feet wet in that conflict. Russian propaganda used this conflict to portray the West as being anti-Russian/Slav and anti-Christian, and they still refer to it today as the first instance of Western hostility to post-USSR Russia. This idea has seeped into conservative opinion, and I remember writers after 9/11 criticizing NATO’s involvement there for the same reasons (and for being on the same side as Al-Qaeda), but never mentioning Russia at all and adopting a simplified narrative that held Serbia as an innocent victim of Islamic radicalism. So, it might be worth re-examining the Yugoslav wars if only to set the record straight about Moscow’s involvement and its ultimate goal of breaking up NATO. This a conflict that Moscow could restart at any time to tie up NATO and further cripple any resistance to Russian expansion. See below.
https://twitter.com/ivanastradner/status/1799488327281709562
Also, did Jan Sejna say why Moscow already decided in the 1960’s to break up Yugoslavia 2+ decades later? Was it just to milk the ethnic conflicts and tie up NATO or for other reasons too?
He said breaking up Yugoslavia would facilitate Moscow’s control of the separate parts.
Mmmm, curious as I did offer a reply back to your comment on my early post here.
“That it’s written in the Koran doesn’t explain why there would be a sudden spike in Islamic knife attacks *now*. “
Lauraz1986
The knife attacks in Germany actually began ten years ago, when the refugees first appeared. I do not know of this happening in other European countries or with earlier waves of Mulsim immigration.
America Faced with Increased Threat From Russian Warships. Russian warships Arrive in Cuba, Complete with Hypersonic Missiles By: Denise Simon. https://www.trevorloudon.com/2024/06/russian-warships-arrive-in-cuba-complete-with-hypersonic-missiles/
These kind of advanced deployments are token, in terms of numbers, but in terms of nuclear potential, there is no telling. It is in nuclear weapons that Russia’s advantage lies.
Michael Yon is reporting that there is a plan to inject 40,000 people tomorrow in Japan with a self-replicating mRNA. This can supposedly spread to other people via close contact. I am not sure how serious this is in practice, but in theory this type of technology could be used for biological warfare.
Propaganda
I would not trust that kind of narrative. Really. The rumors in this area are rife and often without scientific foundation.
