Mr. Lincoln arrived in Washington and took up the reins of control. It soon became very evident that, so far as the Republican party is concerned, secession if properly managed is rather a benefit than a misfortune.

HENRY ADAMS

In his famous essay, “The Great Secession Winter of 1860-61,” Henry Adams wrote, “It appears very generally among our people that our theory of Government is a failure.” This failure manifested itself on February 18, 1861 when Jefferson Davis was sworn in as Provisional President of the Confederate States of America on the steps of the Alabama State Capitol. Two weeks later Abraham Lincoln was inaugurated 16th President of the United States at the East Portico of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. At that moment, America had two presidents instead of one. Two narratives instead of one. Two opposing armies instead of one united army.

It was an error, of course, for Adams to think the division of the country was “rather a benefit than a misfortune.” He did not envision battlefields strewn with corpses. He did not say how countless disputes would be resolved between North and South. Adams was then too inexperienced to see that no benefit could derive from two presidents leading two countries with two armies.

The political polarization of America, prior to 1861, was a gradual process. It took so long, and advanced with such subtlety, that Abraham Lincoln scoffed at the likelihood of Southern secession during the Republican Party’s 1860 convention in Chicago. The South was bluffling, he said. Secession would never happen because the South would lose federal offices and preferments. Of course, Lincoln was wrong. Most Southern politicians didn’t care about federal offices and preferments. They had other priorities. It can be said, therefore, that a long process of polarization led to a breakup of the country and to a bloody civil war.

The polarization of America, prior to 2020, has also been gradual — masked by the country’s prosperity and apparent stability. The country is now divided into two camps, governed by diametrically opposing principles. The differences are now so striking, so profound, that it is inconceivable they will long tolerate one another. The violence of last summer is but a foretaste of what we should expect.

Despite what the media says, Joseph Biden has not legally won the presidency. The election is in dispute because of election “irregularities.” And now, with tens of millions of mail-in ballots, a basic principle of free and fair elections has been violated; namely, the requirement that people show up in person to vote. An election with mail-in ballots, mailed by God-knows-who, was a standing invitation to fraud. And massive fraud is exactly what happened.

Voting is about government accountability. Election fraud, at its core, negates this accountability. Much of our media, and Biden’s partisans, do not want to be accountable. From their lips, talk of investigating election “irregularities” produces scoffing on the one hand, and threats on the other. By various hints we are given to understand that any proper counting of votes may lead to widespread violence. The left, after all, has prepared this threat in advance (for exactly this eventuality).

Since last summer’s looting and vandalism, the left has relied on violence and intimidation. Theirs is the politics of extortion. The left, in essence, is asking the country to forfeit election transparency to avoid violence. If America gives in, the Party of Extortion will extend its dominion over the entire country. Unchecked by police power, outrage will follow outrage. The Party of Extortion, having conquered the police, will begin to exercise police powers of its own. It will then be a question of accepting slavery or fighting a civil war.

How realistic is this scenario? An American friend in South America, who witnessed the collapse of Venezuela and the civil war in Colombia, texted me on election night. Seeing that Arizona had flipped to Biden, he sensed that the fix was in, that the election would be stolen. Having lost faith in the fairness of the process, with decades of Latin American experience behind him, he suggested that civil war would be our only way out. I was shocked. But look at the situation from his vantage point: America could either choose the fate of Venezuela or the fate of Colombia. In the first instance, Venezuelans acquiesced in several fraudulent elections and lost their freedom to a socialist dictatorship. In the second instance, Colombia saved itself by resisting the left in a long civil war.

This dire analysis would strike most Americans as unduly pessimistic. Election fraud, after all, is a Latin American problem and not an American problem. Yet America’s elections do not follow the guidelines of our own Election Assitance Commission (EAC). Of the ten EAC requirments for a free and fair election, the United States falls short on four counts: (1) Votes were cast without proper registration; (2) tens of millions did not vote in person; (3) every ballot cast was not counted; (4) and in the cases of Detriot and Philadelphia, President Trump was not allowed to have an agent inside the polling stations.

Even if most Americans avert their gaze and pretend nothing has happened, the problem is not going away. Polarization follows a logic of its own. In 1860-61 a majority of Americans did not think the election of 1860 would lead to Southern secession followed by civil war. “Let the Southern states secede if they want,” people said. “They will eventually come back into the Union.” This is the kind of wishful thinking that often prevails at the outset of a crisis. But soon enough wishful thinking gives way to reality. In 1861 the Confederate attack on Fort Sumter caused a psychological shift in the North. Suddenly Southerners were viewed as “rebels” and “traitors” who made war on their own country.

In the present crisis, a similar shift in national psychology cannot be ruled out. Everything depends on how things unfold from this point forward. President Trump’s lawyers will prove that massive election fraud has occurred. If the left and the Democratic Party refuses to accept the verdict of the courts, we will have two presidents, two narratives, and two armed camps.

It may be premature to write, at present, of “The Great Secession Winter of 2020-2021,” but we are going to have to confront the erosion of the rule of law in America. This is not something we can hide from. A confrontation will come, either now or later. Meanwhile, in Beijing, the Chinese communists believe they have won two victories against America. First, by disrupting our society with a virus; and second, there is the “Biden coup.”

The political process in America has become, over the years, a process of foreign subversion under the false flag of special interest politics. We have turned a blind eye to this process because we value peace and quiet. Russian dissident Natan Sharansky once said, “In dictatorships you need courage to fight evil; in the free world you need courage to see evil.” If we are not willing to see, if we bury our heads in the sand, America won’t continue as a great power. The truth is, we have been subverted, our institutions have been penetrated and compromised. Absent clearsightedness about this, we are doomed to defeat. The system of the Founding Fathers cannot make up for a lapse in courage on our part.

In 1861 Henry Adams thought America’s “experiment” with republican government would fail because the Founding Fathers were themselves doubtful of its prospects. They knew there would be trouble, especially over the issue of slavery. Henry Adams wrote: “By an unfortunate necessity which has grown with its growth, the country contained in itself, at its foundation, the seeds of its future troubles.” America got through those troubles, with a high cost in blood and treasure. And now we are facing worse troubles.

The new religion of socialism, which has ravaged many countries around the world, now overtakes us at home. It has grown like a cancer, inside the state, inside the culture. If the cancer of socialism continues unchecked, it will destroy the country. With Joe Biden in the White House, the socialists will close in for the kill. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and others are already talking about making lists of Trump supporters for the sake of future reprisals.

It takes courage to see evil, as Sharansky said. And courage is what we must pray for. We cannot be afraid of two presidents with two narratives and two armed camps; for if we do not confront evil, it will destroy us. In that event there will be no president and no country.

Notes on election fraud by my friend, Allan Dos Santos:

Trump was warned in 2012 about voter fraud, saying (https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/256063573669855232?s=21):

“It doesn’t matter who you vote for — it matters who is counting the votes.” Be careful of voter fraud!

Latin America is fully of stories involving fraud, as it follows:

  1. So profound.

The plan of God through the ages, apparently, includes America’s decline–or worse–and when we see events with the long view of God’s will, it’s a different pill to swallow.

No less distressing because of the hard outcome for our nation, but contextually understandable, and, thus, appropriate for the time and even a positive as it ushers in the LORD’S return.

Thanks Jeff for your dedicated study, and strong stance

    1. I don’t see how you can justify that statement in any realistic way. You’re entitled to your opinion but laying down and accepting surrender and defeat as the will of God is certainly not been a historical approach in these situations. Imagine if our forefathers had thought like that? Perhaps He has a great purpose still and there is still hope for the country – at least consider it and that fighting for the country in prayer and action is the most noble thing we can do in partnering with Him.

      1. WHITEGLOVEWEB wrote: I don’t see how you can justify that statement in any realistic way. You’re entitled to your opinion

Well, thank you for allowing me to have an opinion. That probably means you’re not politically left-of-center. How can I justify taking the long view of God’s will that will ultimately include the decline–or worse–of the U.S.? Well, I’m not a myopic American that believes we’re the center of God’s will, nor do I believe we, or the last 250 or so years, are the totality of history.

Funny thing, J.R. wrote from his oft-employed academic view of stretching his readers past the last 15 minutes. Part of the ‘Civil’ War’s lesson is comfort and apathy allowed it, and war makes you take a stand at some point.

Go read Jeff’s last 10 blog posts (just choosing a random number. Can be any post, his books, his videos, etc). Then ask, ‘I wonder how the CCP is viewing what is unfolding in the U.S right now?’ Two Presidents Two Narratives is a historical analysis and called to action because the CCP is doing more than ‘looking’ at what we’re doing. And masks, our increased debt-load, and, now this election mess are not isolated incidents–another mistake myopic Americans make.

Whether law prevails and Trump gains the election he won, or the lawless side gains it, the damage has been done. Babylon means confusion, and an enemy doesn’t only needs the populace split, splintered, and at each others throat before their attack. The new lockdown will ensure the lawful side can’t gather, and as everyone is sectioned off in place, we’re weakened against whatever attack the CCP has planned.

I’m not not a defeatist, or defeated. If we’re on this site, we’re both probably pretty aligned politically–and see this current election mess similarly.

However, ‘health passports,’ and ‘fully digital currency’ are merely two things that can/will happen that are as scary, or worse than this election issue. They’re part of the controlled take-over.

And there’s issues in every corner of the world as bad as America’s, and if the lawless ones take control, it’ll affect the whole world, so, yes, it’s a big deal.

But the plan of God, the KINGDOM of God, is a much longer view than America’s existence, and, I would argue, wayyyy more important as it’s an eternal Kingdom and not a temporal one.

I fully support U.S. law being maintained, but God’s Torah (Law) is THE reality.

        Have a good day

      2. John, for the most part my thoughts paralleled yours until I spent 3 secluded days fasting and praying in late September. God took me from “this was prophesied to happen and is part of the Bible’s last days scenario” to “NO you don’t devil!” It was quite a transformation in my way of thinking and praying. This election was stolen from President Trump pure and simple. God is a God of justice! Psalm 97:2 (NLT) says: “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.” So yes, that may be the long view of where we’re headed. But NOT YET!

      3. PRAYINGINOK says:

PrayinginOK, it’s people like you that are encouraging. Fasting and prayer are lost strengths in this battle, and I’m in that camp too. This election was not stolen Nov. 4th, but years ago when this was game-planned and a well orchestrated, multi-tiered plan was put in place. It’s so brazen, it shows how confident they are.

That’s why I spoke of a long-view in the will of God, and the eschatological implications because it’s so much more than an election fraud. We haven’t ‘fasted and prayed’ all the while our country has been taken over by outside forces.

J.R. has been an out-spoken voice on this takeover for many years. He’s very brave because these people play for keeps. We all must stand up, but my work is for souls to commit to YHWH because it’s a much greater problem than our nation’s downfall.

I hope the election is set right, but it also concerns me that if it is, believers will think some monumental battle has been won and go back to funding the CCP thru its cheap junk, and fast food.

The election is but a small part of what’s wrong, and Jeff has done a good job documenting it. That’s why I read his material.

Shalom, prayinginOK. Keep up the intense prayers, and God be glorified in whatever happens.

      4. “We all must stand up, but my work is for souls to commit to YHWH because it’s a much greater problem than our nation’s downfall.”

I totally agree! I will keep up the “effectual, fervent prayers” and we’ll see what God does. 🙂

  2. Hello, seeing the election in your country, and the reflex here in Brazil, a good part of the politicians and almost all the media supporting Biden and the following of the population in general, insisting on not seeing so many frauds, is this “blind leading the blind”

  3. There is still some hope that State recounts may turn the election results around,
North Carolina started a recount and finished it the other day, with the results being a Trump win.
Georgia just started a recount yesterday, and it is a “by hand” recount, so it should be fair…or at least hope so…
Nothing is final until the Electoral College vote which is set for 14 December 20.

  4. What worries me most is that even if we win the election (which I think we will), half the country is hopelessly brainwashed and will continue living on never questioning their delusions. Trying to discuss things with them has proved fruitless. Unless something happens to open their minds to what’s really going on, I fear it’s only a matter of time until they take over the government — even if we dodge the bullet this election cycle. I don’t think we’re ripe yet for civil war, but they will eventually be more in number than we are, as the boomers die off and immigrants from south of the border move in, and then the left will be in charge. Unless we can think of something to change that. What could happen that would open people’s minds? I rack my brain over this. If we were writing this as a fictional movie, what would be the next act that could save the day? We should figure out what that is, and pray for that, and work towards that.

    1. I know exactly what you mean. I have tried discussing events with people on the left as well. They begin with different ideas about reality, and a different context, so they dismiss the most elementary facts and embrace the lies of our country’s enemies (ignorant as to who the enemy, all this time, has been). And now they think WE are their enemy, that WE are the problem. But we merely acknowledge real things, real threats, and have not embraced the lies of the left about racism and climate change and China’s goodness. So we are listed as dangerous people — Racists and enemies of the planet. Really? And now we will lose our freedom for having allowed them their freedom — which they have used to advance a communist agenda. It is a nightmare.

  5. Thank you for this essay. I think the South was played into Sumter and Lincoln was a deceitful tyrant! Dilorenzo and Rothbard get it, as do you (and Diana West).
    Ron Weitzman

I’ve followed you for a number of years with appreciation.

  6. Helli, I am wondering what members of your military think of the supposed 1.5 billion given to Joe Biden by the Chinese?

  7. Wasn’t it Lincoln who instigated the popular vote? Then, the secret ballot was designed from the start to facilitate election fraud. Americans shouldn’t be intimidated to be safe instead of free. That’s how we end up wearing useless Antifa masks. The two party system has come about by states only granting electors to Democrats and Republicans. Referendum states need to change that, so any candidate with sufficient votes can obtain electors. How did referendum states become so, though?

  8. I’m a 60+ year old honors graduate of Harvard. This is the most brilliant political science thesis I’ve ever read.

  9. Opa, taking advantage of the subject of two presidents, theoretically speaking of a second civil war, would President Trump continue to have control over the entire nuclear arsenal, or could Democrats have control over part of the warheads located in the states they control?

    1. I don’t think anyone knows what would happen in that event. The illegalities of the election being what they are, one side views them as nothing at all. The other side is upset. What would the military do? How do we begin to reckon the disorientation of our own institutions?

  10. Opa, taking advantage of the subject of two presidents, theoretically speaking of a second civil war, would President Trump continue to have control over the entire nuclear arsenal, or could Democrats have control over part of the warheads located in the states they control?

  11. Win Win by comunists in China. CDC Green Zone Shielding which separates families, elderly etc and Biden. I pray we survive this. Thanks Jeff

  12. Ideas / scenarios for the near future :

-election fraud will be proven in the courts.
-President Trump will win the electoral college vote.

At this point and in a rather un-American fashion the far left / BLM / Antifa will go “kinetic” – including at least some false flag operations. The only hope is that law enforcement at some level or armed citizens can discourage the leftists. And that the military / police works for us and not against us. A lot of it does indeed depend on local law enforcement. I have read of police officers and sheriffs who have said they would not enforce restrictive covid regulations and other bizarre requests. Also if independent / conservative media can inform people as to what is actually going on, that is key. The Goliath media must be slain by many Davids. If our military is against us and / or in disarray that is the true nightmare scenario as you say. Enemies foreign and domestic would roam free. I will try not to think about that possibility.

If a civil war is started, it will be started by the left.

Bad features of a possible civil war :

    -Considerable violence, killings, atrocities.
-interruption of many normal governmental services
-interruption of many services that make life/survival easier and more pleasant.

-A divided country / country succession would be so bad. Imagine the fate of the U.S. or the world if the the U.S. had split in 2 after the Civil War. Would the Allies have won WW1 or WW2 ? Would we have been invaded long ago ?

In my experiences and travels the majority of American people are sensible. And in fact very good. The determined leftists only have universities, certain cities and limited areas of the country. So I would say they lose the civil war big time. But shame on them if they cause such devastation !

People must form closer communities and keep in good communication with like minded people. Just socializing with other patriotic people can be so enjoyable and inspiring. Why not do it ? We can help and assist each other, even in everyday needed goods and services. While they perhaps self destruct and eat their own. Maybe theirs is a depressing Dark Winter, while we could offer a bright future ( after some unpleasant difficulties ).

America, when it functions correctly, is a beautiful thing. Let’s keep it going !

    1. Tom, I believe in a divided nation, the U.S. military and law enforcement would stand up for Trump and conservatives. He has always stood up for them and for the rule of law. And the military and police are mostly themselves conservatives.

  13. I think we already know what the Soviets and CCP will do—attack.

The CCP has been talking about “Lebensraum” for the last several years. Now with the swine virus wiping out much of their pork and floods much of their rice, with an already restive population and having already missed their deadline for invading Taiwan, they’ll see a civil war that they’re actively trying to foment as a prime time to attack. Especially if that civil war that they foment is sufficiently destructive as to wipe out much of the law and order in this country and divide the military as well. The Putin resurrected Soviet regime is working with the CCP. The question is not so much if but when?

When Putin resurrected the Soviet system, he also resurrected the communist desire to rule the world. But he also rules a nation with a shrinking population, increasingly making it that his ability to carry out military successes will only decrease in the future. Europe is gradually waking up to the danger presented by the Soviets, but in no way is prepared to face a determined attack.

  14. The Supreme Court needs to intercede, to require a redux of the elections, with the elimination of mail in votes. Only US citizens with proper identification being allowed to vote, in person.

  15. President Trump will leave office to prevent a hot civil war, and leave the pending economic collapse for Harris to handle. The moratorium on evictions is over already, and heat is being shut off during cold weather, force majeure, notwithstanding. Goldman-Sachs will buy up all the foreclosed realty and surviving companies for ten cents on the dollar. Those tossed out in the street will be required to turn in their guns and dogs for the privilege of living in shopping malls converted to homeless shelters. Then, once they’ve established a sufficient social credit score, they might qualify for a job with Goldman-Sachs, and to rent a dive apartment from Goldman-Sachs.

  16. The one goal that Russia, China, European Union, United States, and the Vatican, have in common, is a one World government. Aside from the competition to determine who shall rule, any action towards the common goal is welcomed. The US two party system is two tails on the same two headed wooden nickel. Trump talks tough, but fails to implement action. He once ran for president as a limousine liberal Democrat, was a good, golfing buddy of Bill Clinton, and his dad, Fred Trump was a college of Prescott Bush, both of whom had been investigated by Congress. When Pelosi implies that Trump will leave, she means that he is in on the gag. The Virus Hoax has already united the entire World in totalitarian dictates.

  17. In the thread above, ‘Discussion With Cliff Kincaid,’ you speak of Colombia as if a model for the US to implement in the fight against Communism. Americans are armed to the teeth, and will not tolerate a police state. We don’t need President Trump to hire a Secretary of Defense who will violate his oath of office and invade the US with it’s own, armed forces. I doubt if the military would actually do that if so ordered. The military in Egypt and Thailand, has invariably deposed dictators and restored semblance of Democracy, for instance. The fine film, Sophie’s Choice, parallels the double bind choice of Communism or Fascism; the choice between, Stalin or Hitler. In the United States, the choice between Biden or Trump, is the same. With two presidents, we have no president. The Pentagon will intercede. Let’s hope that they haven’t been infiltrated as thoroughly as have the Administrative, Congressional, and Judicial; not to mention the Press. Our choice is between The Bill Of Rights, and totalitarianism. Trump is a traitor, in bed with Biden. Anifa and the Proud Boys are agent provocateurs of the JTTF. It’s now up to, We The People, and the armed forces.

  18. Just saw the most marvelous movie about the power of hope and prayer. “Breakthrough,” available on Netflix. A true story, and one to give us hope in these dark times. Highly recommend for all patriots!

  19. President Trump waits until the eleventh hour to over play his hand. The only reason that the American people tolerate the Fascist tactics of using state government to order municipal government to order local business to order customers to wear ineffective masks, is because they believe in the virus. Ultimately, It’s going to take a more effective virus. People are told to stay home, but they are being evicted. You can’t evict everyone for the same reason that you can’t go door to door to confiscate their firearms; people have giuns.
