“In addition to NABM [National Anti-Ballistic Missile] and ABM [Anti-Ballistic Missile] systems for Moscow, the FSU [Former Soviet Union] devoted enormous resources to air defense, anti-submarine warfare, space defense, directed energy technologies for a variety of missions, and the nuclear war management system designed to enable the Party and Government nomenklatura to manage and survive a nuclear war, and then to direct post war recovery.”
William Lee[i]
“Passive defenses are assets for protecting forces, military and political leaders, key personnel, and the general population from the effects of nuclear detonations. Passive defenses include nuclear hardened missile silos, launch control facilities, command bunkers, civil defense shelters, and shelters for strategic material – food, machinery, and the necessaries for reconstruction. Passive defenses also include personnel specifically trained in nuclear civil defense who can be mobilized to monitor radiation levels, conduct evacuations, provide advice and medical help, and begin reconstruction.”
Peter Vincent Pry[ii]

Today’s military crisis in Europe should have been anticipated, but our strategists lacked foresight. And now the Kremlin appears to be preparing an invasion of the Baltic States, or the occupation of the Suwałki Gap (i.e., located on Polish and Lithuanian territory). Russia’s war preparations against NATO effectively bring pressure to bear on Europe and President Donald Trump. Will NATO stand up to Moscow if Russian forces move into Lithuania? Or will the alliance fall apart? A great deal is at stake. If direct threats against Europe can be used to leverage NATO out of supporting Ukraine, Russia might retake Ukraine and reconstitute the Union State (i.e., Soviet Union). In that event, China and the other communist states might come into play. A terrifying shift in the balance of power would begin.
NATO authorities are saying that Russia will be ready to attack Europe in 18 months (in 2027). I am told that the balance of power will shift in Russia and China’s favor through 2029. This is not happening by accident. It is happening by design. The public, however, does not seem troubled. Nearly everyone is focused on domestic political battles. The pro-Russian part of the MAGA movement thinks that President Vladimir Putin is a Christian and a nationalist. Dark Enlightenment theorists say that America is actually the communist motherland (instead of Russia). Here is a special kind of Russian joke, made funnier by jokers like Curtis Yarvin.[iii] But now we have grown so stupid that jokers can pull our ears and pinch our noses.
Is the Russian president a Christian? No. Vladimir Putin is a Dark Triad personality. His government is a criminal formation partaking of the rich heritage of the communist movement and its legendary mass murderers: Lenin and Stalin, Dzerzhinsky and Beria. Here we find a predisposition to commit crimes. As noted by Polish psychologist Andrzej Łobaczewski in Political Ponerology, the claims and promises of psychopaths do not matter. This kind of state is called a “pathocracy”; that is, rule by those who are pathological. Their system always inverts human values and massacres the innocent.
Since Łobaczewski’s insights were published there have been advances in the study of psychology which may be added to our understanding of totalitarian dictatorship. According to a paper published in 2002 by psychologists Delroy L. Paulhus and Kevin M. Williams, there is a “Dark Triad” of traits which characterize “socially averse” personalities. The Dark Triad consists of the following three traits: Machiavellianism, Narcissism, and Psychopathy. These traits can exist at a “subclinical” level in certain political leaders, and are all the more dangerous for going undetected.
According to Łobaczewski, something like Dark Triad traits permeate the top leadership strata of totalitarian states. As Russian GRU defector Stanislav Lunev told me, “These are not human beings, these are crazy persons.” Men of this type rule with a deceitful cynicism that appears formidable and successful. But underneath the surface there is dysfunction. These people are not supermen. In respect of this, the Dark Triad has its corollaries insofar as Machiavellianism gives rise to Incomprehension, while Narcissism gives rise to Incapacity even as Psychopathy leads to Credulity.
The energy of the Dark Triad regime is vibrant and ever flowing when murder and deceit are easy to bring off. Yet murder and deceit are not child’s play. As criminal ambition grows in complexity, the path forward becomes more difficult. Ever greater insights are needed to fuel a long-term plan of conquest. Yet insights of the highest order, which are necessary for strategic accomplishment, require a form of goodness belonging only to wisdom. The totalitarian mind is too cynical and untruthful for wisdom. The evil leader fails to comprehend what is ultimately good. Inevitably his deceitful methods backfire. The practice of deception degenerates into self-deception. Whenever strength is built upon murder and pillage, there is an attending madness which gradually leads to paralysis and incapacity.
Another weakness of the totalitarian is his tendency to believe in his own self-ascribed omniscience. People naturally tend to believe in their own cleverness, and wicked people are no exception. Philosophers have argued that evil is a special case of foolishness. Even while they are fooling other people, the wicked imagine themselves too clever to be deceived. But the subordinates of dictators are students at the foot of their master. As the dictator deceives, these subordinates are bound deceive as well.
Please note the following examples: As the Second World War went against Germany, Hitler realized that his military subordinates were deceiving him about their actions. To combat this problem, Hitler began making tape recordings and transcripts of all his military conferences. According to his valet, Heinz Linge, Hitler would send for the transcripts of past meetings when his generals began to contradict themselves. At one point Hitler sat down with his top commanders and admonished them for dishonesty. With the exception of Admiral Karl Doenitz, he said they were all dishonest.[iv] Joseph Stalin did not bother with such confrontations. He did not criticize those generals who misinformed him. Malfeasant generals were arrested and shot – as in the case of General Dimitry Pavlov, who commanded the Western Special Military District at the outset of the war with Germany. Stalin was responsible for executing or imprisoning a very large number of generals. According to some estimates, 81 of 103 Red Army generals and admirals were executed. Here we encounter the famous paranoia of Stalin. Why was Stalin paranoid? Because everyone was lying to him. Consider then, the example of Vladimir Putin. In the Ukraine War, Putin has taken an even more dysfunctional approach, preferring to blame his competent commanders while promoting loyal incompetents. A prominent example of this is Major General Ivan Popov, commander of the 58th Combined Arms Army, who was reportedly popular with his troops but was removed after he criticized the Russian Army’s leadership. In 2024 Putin ordered a significant crackdown, with several high-ranking officers, including a deputy defense minister arrested on bribery charges. Yet other criminals, belonging to Sergie Shoigu’s “clan,” escaped real punishment, and were given sinecures. Here we see the real meaning of de-Stalinization. You replace sanguinary paranoia with blind regard for treacherous toadies.
Dark Triad personalities, who organize regimes of networked psychopaths, typically succumb to the very unreality their regimes cultivate. Stalin was the most effective and successful of the Dark Triad dictators; but even his success must be qualified by the fact that he was only saved by massive economic and military assistance from the United States. If Putin is to be saved, the United States will have to turn against Ukraine and Europe and join Putin the way Roosevelt teamed up with Stalin. Trump is being pushed in this direction, though the mechanism for pushing is hidden.
Of course, the West also has problematic leaders operating under a completely different type of regime. Almost thirty years ago Christopher Lasch wrote of America’s “crisis of competence; the spread of apathy and a suffocating cynicism; the moral paralysis of those who value ‘openness’ above all.”[v] He was pointing to the left. Today this quote might be amended to describe the right; for MAGA also suffers a crisis of competence. Of course, it is not the moral paralysis of those who value “openness,” but the moral paralysis of those who cannot shut anything down. As G.K. Chesterton once wrote, “The whole modern world is divided into Conservatives and Progressives. The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of Conservatives is to prevent them from being corrected.”

[iii] In his Gray Mirror column at Substack, Yarvin recently posted a picture of Lenin arriving at Finland Station in 1917. The article curiously begins with the role played by Harvard’s intellectuals in the Salem witch trials. This ideologically frames everything in terms most amenable to Yarvin’s conflation of New England Puritanism and Protestantism with the woke left. This curious casting resolves into an attack on conservatism: “The truth about conservative ‘oligarchs’ is simple,” he writes: “they are not normal people. They are all autistic in some way. People with normal social instincts want power – viscerally. If they wanted power, viscerally, they would do what normal people do, when they become billionaires – and be liberals.” Then, weirdly, in the next paragraph, he adds: “Instead, these semi-autistic people are genuine anarchs in the Juengerian sense – their visceral mission is to be free of power. If Elon Musk could staff his empire entirely with AIs, he would. His mission is going to Mars. His mission is not commanding an army of men – that’s just a thing he needs to do to go to Mars.” Yarvin then brings this observation around to discussing McCarthyism, somehow associating McCarthy’s name with the persecution of anti-communists by “the progressive woke communist mind virus….” Having accused America of being THE communist power of the world, he then writes, “Imagine how great America would be if McCarthy didn’t just go after communists, but also the liberals too. California would consist entirely of surfer girls who get married off to stockbrokers. We would still be #1 in plastics.” To be sure, Yarvin is pulling our ears and pinching our noses.
[iv] Albert Speer also wrote of Hitler distrusting his generals. Speer’s book, Inside the Third Reich, outlined the reasons of Hitler’s growing paranoia and fury at what he perceived as disloyalty and incompetence. Of course, the generals who survived the war took revenge by heaping blame on Hitler.

Trump will be going to Moscow to speak with putin!. Jeff, trump hires convicted pedophile lawrence taylor for health, fitness dept. Any thoughts? do we need maga still, if trump busts ghislane maxwell out of prison? Seems like he wants to work for the pedophile
Yes. It is all alarming.
“NATO authorities are saying that Russia will be ready to attack Europe in 18 months (in 2027).” — but what about all those planes delivering troops to Kaliningrad? Doesn’t evidence suggest that the attack will happen much sooner?
You would think so, Valentina. One might take official valuations with a grain of salt. I have heard hints of wishful thinking from NATO generals. Russia and China fooled the West for decades. They were supposedly enemies that could never trust each other. We never seriously considered that they have always been allies. Col. Stanislav Lunev emphasized the power that exists in pairing Chinese manpower with Russian nuclear missile power. The truth is hard to admit. We are not invincible. Our society is vulnerable. Official intelligence estimates may or may not take current Russian mobilizations into account. What do they know that we don’t? What are they refusing to admit? These are questions for us.

Speaking of Yarvin and Elon (in the footnotes), Elon reportedly went to Yarvin for advice on how to start and operate a third party. Of course, Yarvin is an imbecile and has no experience in starting any political parties. I wonder if it was Elon who said this nonsense about “needing an army of men” to “go to Mars”? And if this is indicative of Elon’s future–but stupidly doomed plans?
Elon himself is a sociopath, with no regard for human life even to the point that he would rather cover up major defects in his vehicles than spend the money to correct them and save a human life. The Tesla Files leak, reported in a German paper (but I don’t think it ever got reported very much in the USA, at least not by the major networks), stated Tesla has been aware for years of unintended and random acceleration of their vehicles, the “wompy wheels” and poor build quality of their vehicles, and other dangerous defects, but has hidden and lied about these facts to the public. These defects have killed people.
In the PI lawsuit Tesla just lost, testimony was given that Tesla had, for years, possession of crash data and video that it claimed it didn’t have to police and to the plaintiffs. Tesla employees even lured an investigator to one of their service centers and claimed the data in the system had been “corrupted,” that they weren’t able to turn the machine on and retrieve any data, and even lied about an “auto delete” feature, but a forensic investigator was able to prove that the machine HAD been accessed and that the data had been sent directly to Tesla’s servers. Furthermore, Tesla continually lied about this and even misdirected investigators to other data.
Such a creature as Elon does not care about “going to Mars.” He has been a dangerous con man his entire career, starting with the fake super computer he showed to investors in order to con them out of money for his Zip2 venture.
It seems that accomplishment can be faked. If the world’s richest man is a fraud, the world economy may be a Ponzi scheme.
Nato Is sending a lot of troups and equipment to Poland and Lituania ( also many US troups) you can find a lot of videos in the Internet also from official military sources. Maybe nothing Will happen…
It is tempting to forward deploy troops in the threatened territory. But Lithuania might be a deathtrap. Once cut off of supply….

Trevor Loudon mentioned Dr.Jeremiah Stamler. He started the idea to
go on Low Salt/Cholesterol diets in the 1970’s. Northwestern Medicine News Center recalls Stamler’s career (Stamler was Department Head of Preventative Medicine at Northwest) and mentions that “In the 1960’s, Stamler was subpoenaed by the House Committee on Un-American Activities to identify friends who had attended Communist Party meetings. He refused and sued the committee” The Supreme Court ruled in favor of Stamler and led to abolishment of the committee in 1975. The connection between destroying the Beef Industry and Communism is not far fetched at all.
Interesting!
FOOD FOR THOUGHT From Trevor Loudon’s KeyWiki:

One group of SECRET COMMUNISTS in the United States was led by Arthur Kinoy, a radical lawyer who ended his long career as a distinguished professor at Rutgers Law School, AND INCLUDED DR. And Stanley Levison, a key aide and supporter of Martin Luther King, Jr.. [13]

Dr. Jeremiah Stamler was an aggressive advocate for the MEDITERRANEAN DIET. There was an ALL OUT ASSAULT on LARD in the AMERICAN DIET. As a direct result millions of Americans are suffering from Poor HEALTH today.

I know the dark triad personality all too well. Trump should be consistently shutting Putin down at every turn. No meetings no negotiations just spending his time building Ukraine up militarily but Trump won’t do that because he is getting something out of his relationship with Putin. A healthy minded person would not engage.
Good show with Lee today. I was wondering if there was any way that Jonny could see if that neighborhood with the stop sign looked architecturally American? And, if you would report back on that? Thanks

Just listened to the “Dynamic Independence” conversation, in which AOC was mentioned. Years ago I posted this on YouTube, using the iconic song “America” of Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story with its original, soon-to-be-politically-incorrect lyrics (ironically, Bernstein of course was a communist too):
AOC is definitely part of the communist movement.
In a way, she is the embodiment of “non-existing” communism, as she was born in October of 1989, roughly four weeks prior to the fall of the Berlin Wall. And, she is also full of appetite for power. I even think that for her, political power might be a sexual thing, sort of. – Also, like with so many communists, there is something severely wrong with her eyes.
Interesting. I will have to look at this eye thing. I have been watching her speeches. They are full of communist subtexts. This has to be conscious to a large degree, in the “progressive sense” of being a socialist, of believing in the state as the answer. She is frightening because her personality is attractive to many people. She resonates with the downtrodden, with those who feel certain resentments. Nothing could be more dangerous.
Also, when she became a member of Congress years ago, there were many articles misportraying her as having merely been “cast”, like an actor, out of a New York restaurant where she was waiting tables. It turns out this was her mum’s restaurant, and AOC herself very much has a degree in international relations and economics from Boston University (for whatever it’s worth). Her political mentors, of course, were the super-leftwingers Ted Kennedy and Bernie Sanders. She could easily set up plain-Cuban communism in the United States if given the opportunity …
Yes. She worked in Kennedy’s office,. and was an activist. And he does have degrees in subjects that leftists use for indoctrination at universities — and which are focused on falsifying according to socialist (i.e., anti-American or socialist values which are now supposedly American as apple pie).
She clearly is a dedicated ideologue (with the mad eyes of a professional destructor). — The reason I posted Leonard Bernstein’s “America” is that by its original lyrics (and the music and Puerto Rican connection anyway), the piece almost seems to have been written (with great prescience) precisely for AOC!
It does resonate with her vibe.
Like many communists, she lies about her past and background.
Also, 13 long years ago, I posted this:

Communism, Lard, and Meat Consumption.
The Connection Between Being a Communist and Being a Vegetarian..
The Finnish Bolshevik writing on a Marxist Leninist Blog explains the connection between being a Communist and being a Vegetarian,
https://mltheory.wordpress.com/2017/07/22/vegetarianism-communism/
Upton Sinclair, (Communist author and regular candidate for Federal and State political offices promoted a climate among Americans of hostility concerning the consumption of Lard.)
Upton Sinclair’s Lard Opposition
Upton Sinclair’s novel The Jungle played a significant role in the public’s negative
perception of lard, though his primary opposition was to the unsanitary practices within the meatpacking industry, not lard as a cooking fat. His vivid and shocking descriptions of workers falling into vats of lard, leading to the product being sold as “Durham’s Pure Leaf Lard,” contributed to widespread disgust and helped spur the passage of the Pure Food and Drug Act and the Meat Inspection Act of 1906.
This narrative, while not a direct campaign against lard consumption, effectively damaged the product’s reputation by associating it with contamination and industrial horror.
Sinclair’s depiction of the meatpacking industry, including the processing of lard, was a central element in his exposé on the exploitation of immigrant workers and the lack of food safety regulations.
The infamous passage describing workers falling into vats of lard became a powerful symbol of industrial corruption and contributed to the public’s revulsion towards the product.
While Sinclair’s intent was to advocate for social reform and socialism by highlighting worker suffering, the public reaction focused heavily on the health and safety concerns related to the meatpacking process, including lard.
The negative publicity from The Jungle created a climate where alternative products, like Procter & Gamble’s Crisco (a hydrogenated vegetable shortening), could be marketed as cleaner and safer, further diminishing lard’s popularity. By the way; Consumption of hydrogenated vegetable shortening, as well as hydrogenated vegetable oil has been found to be harmful to one’s health.

Dear Cicero, one of the best examples of hypocrisy and perfidy of commies in that matter
was that described by Yung Chang in her epic book, “Mao, The Unknown Story”.
During the so called Great Leep Forward when millions upon millions of Chinese were being starved to death, Mao himself was devouring daily one kilogram of highest quality beef himself.
Regards – Bogdan
That is an excellent and frightening book, by the way. It shows Mao to be a psychopath of the most terrifying aspect.
Dear Jeff and Friends, a bit of a stability, at least for a while, in Poland. Conservative Karol Nawrocki was finally sworn as a new Polish President. It is a significant event considering that Tusk’s criminal cohort attempted to launch a last-minute coup to prevent him from taking his oath. Fortunately, two small Tusk’s coalition partners refused to participate in the plot.
Of course, it doesn’t mean that the fight is over, and we can expect that it will actually intensify as Tusk still enjoys support of bot Brussels and Germany. The new German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz was even insolent enough to openly express his disappointment and dissatisfaction with the election’s result. Both BEASTS will now, certainly, double their effort to destabilize Polish political landscape even more.
However, Nawrocki seems so be much more bold, combative and, perhaps, more principled than he predecessor, Andrzej Duda. Nawrocki is also on a very good terms with Trump and shortly before the election received Trump’s strong endorsement.
There are also signs that election of Nawrocki has sent shivers of fear amongst Tusk’s bandits, thieves, vandals and traitors. If he adheres to this combative style the political atmosphere in Poland could become very interesting.
I’d also like to ask my Friends on Mr. Nyquist’s website to pray for me as I will travel to Poland on the incoming Sunday for two months. Hopefully, Putin will still not be ready to start any new hostilities against Poland and subsequently NATO.
Regards – Bogdan
He, he… It was supposed to be pray for me and not pay…
regards – Bogdan
I edited it, so it now reads right.
Merz’s opposition to Nawrocki could be a red flag. How to analyze it? The CDU has been Merkel’s party….
Dear Jeff, it’s difficult to make a precise judgment. However, Witold Gadowski, whom you, probably, remember spoke few months ago that some members of the German political elite are conducting discreet conversation with Putin’s cohort about resumption of bilateral political and economic relations. That would mean repair of the North Stream gas pipeline as well. According to Gadowski, they are also whispering to each other about strategy of neutralizing and subjugate the Eastern Europe and Poland in particular. No surprise here for me! Unofficially, the Germans still regard their former Eastern provinces Poland was forced to absorb in result of the Yalta treason, as being only temporarily under the Polish administration. There is also more or less open resistance from the German site to prevent Poland from investing in and building up large-scale industrial installations.
For example, recently Poland has discovered and extremely large deposit of gas close to the shore of island Wolin close to the German border and Germans are furiously fighting now to prevent the Poles from investing into this discovery and exploit it.
Needless to say, that the deranged, anti-Polish administration of Tusk makes this fight easier for the Germans. However, there is much more than that.
Very suspicious seems to be also this sudden German enthusiasm for increasing their defense expenditures and dramatic enlargement of their armed forces. I don’t believe that much that this is only because of the perceived threat from Russia. I’m afraid that the main reason for that is their desire to gain military ascendancy over Poland, intimidate this country and treat it as Germany’s “junior” partner at the best.
Friedrich Merz has also said few weeks ago that Germany treats the Poland’s and Baltics’ Eastern border as its own.
Regards – Bogdan
Nothing new under the sun, it seems. The late British analyst Christopher Story (1938 – 2010) wrote extensively (and meticulously) about post-WW-II Germany’s duplicitous policy vis-à-vis the United States and that they never really gave up on their dream of pan-German hegemony over a “Europe from the Atlantic to the Urals”. Clearly, this whole project of “European integration” is but a revived Pangermania through the backdoor of “European” institutions. He wrote this in his 2002 book, “The European Union Collective: Enemy of Its Member States – A Study of Russian and German Strategy to Complete Lenin’s World Revolution”. That book is now available only at insane prices, but here is an authentic and complete PDF of it:
https://exopolitics.blogs.com/files/eu-collective.pdf
Your sense of Germany is that the Russians are exploiting a German aspiration?
The German problem is two-sided, then, and Germany is double-minded.
Jas 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Will do Bogdan. I have prayed that God will Strengthen and Sustain you in Glorifying His Name during your trip to and from Poland, AND while you are in Poland. May you strengthen the Brethren in Poland in confronting the Communist Menace in accordance with God’s guidance and direction. So Shall It Be Written;…So Shall It Be Done.
Bogdan,I am happy to hear that Poland has a new President who is a Plain Speaking Prizefighter and Historian. I hope that Andrzej Duda Nawrocki will go ALL OUT to THWART the COMMUNIST MENACE (Preferably with A KNOCKOUT PUNCH).
Carol Nawrocki Stance Regarding Religious Freedom in Poland
Karol Nawrocki stands as a strong advocate for Christian religious freedom in Poland, aligning himself clearly with the Catholic Church and traditional religious values. He has described himself as standing “on the side of the Church and freedom of religion,” contrasting his position with that of his political opponents whom he accused of restricting religious expression, such as by removing crucifixes from public offices. Nawrocki frequently highlighted his Catholic faith during his campaign, reciting the Sermon on the Mount, visiting the national shrine of Jasna Góra, and pledging his first foreign visit as president would be to the Vatican to pray at the tomb of Pope John Paul II.
His political views are described as “patriotic, pro-Christian, pro-NATO, pro-Western, and pro-Donald Trump,” indicating a firm commitment to preserving Christian identity in public life. Experts suggest that most Polish bishops welcomed his victory, viewing him as a president with a strong personal commitment to the Catholic faith and traditional moral values consistent with Church teachings. He is expected to use his presidential powers, such as the veto and the ability to refer laws to the Constitutional Tribunal, to block legislation that would weaken the role of the Church or restrict religious freedoms, including potential laws on abortion or same-sex partnerships.
However, his ability to influence certain policies, such as the government’s plan to reduce religion classes in public schools, may be limited, as these changes are implemented through secondary legislation that the president cannot directly veto. Nonetheless, Nawrocki’s overall stance emphasizes the protection of religious expression and the institutional role of the Church in Polish society.

Thank you, Cicero. At least, Nawrocki will be able to slow down the process of Poland’s deconstruction by Tusk and his criminal cohort.

What is the New Site for the ZAPAD 2025 Strategic Drills? Is this Communist Disinformation?
https://poland.news-pravda.com/en/poland/2025/08/08/28288.html
That is one version of Zapad 2025. They have said that the exercise will be 13,000 men and held in the interior. Then, elsewhere, they say that it will be 150,000 men and held near NATO’s border. There was even a news item saying 40,000 men. This is hard to follow because there are so many conflicting stories about this.
Russians don’t ever do what they say. We can just wait and see.
Yes. They always misdirect — like when a magician pulls a rabbit out of a hat.
“I am told that the balance of power will shift in Russia and China’s favor through 2029.” You have mentioned that before, but I question if those who have told you that, have they considered all considerations? Have they taken into account the fragility of the rule of the CCP and Putin?
Climate change to a new little ice age–accompanied by short, very hot summers with very violent storms and floods, connected with long, cold winters. We’ve seen that in China this year, searing heat waves between deadly floods. Many crops were wiped out. Rice rationing has returned to China. Massive sudden floods have occurred in many other parts of the world too. Including Moscow.
Secondly the economic collapse in China, and apparently also in Russia. There have been even recent riots against the CCP. There are millions of homeless living on the streets, already starving. I don’t know as much about Russia, but how loyal are Siberia, Chechnia and other ethnic minorities? How much longer can Putin and his cronies hold Russia together? In the face of Ukrainian long-range drones destroying much of Russian industry?
How long can Russia maintain that massive build-up of forces and supplies along their western border? Can they hold it up even through one winter? Or will they need to attack sooner? And China?
Yes, I fear for the U.S. troops stationed there. They can be wiped out so quickly with a few tactical nukes. You can be assured that Putin will use those.
Those who tell you that Russia and China will continue to shift the balance of power in their favor assume certain factors that may not be accurate. Therefore, I question their conclusions.
Jeff, you maintain that the Baltic countries are nearly impossible to defend and that any NATO troop reinforcements will be trapped there if Russia attacks. But at the same time, if the US and NATO do nothing to uphold the alliance in the face of Russian aggression then the alliance is as good as dead, which means Russia gains hegemony over all of Europe. The whole situation seems like a catch-22 – damned if you do, damned if you don’t. So what is the answer, what should NATO’s response be if the Baltics are attacked in the next few months? And what can NATO do now to prepare for an attack?
If Russia and China’s economies are as vulnerable as RO says, even though Russia has largely switched to a war economy, does the solution lie in putting more sanctions on them to trigger economic collapse? Or would an attack on their economies just spur them on to go to all out war with the West?
Yes, it is a dilemma to defend the Baltic States. But really, the correct strategy is to make war on Russia if an invasion begins — even if the Baltic States are hard to defend, even if we face nuclear war. There must be no surrender. Determination to defend is all. In America we have Texas and the Alamo, and we say “Remember the Alamo.” Perhaps we need to have a new slogan: “Remember Riga, remember Vilnius.”
I love the poem about the English ship the Revenge, by Alfred Lord Tennyson. Especially these lines spoken by the captain after the small crew had fought all night and subdued many Spanish ships:
“We have fought such a fight
For a day and a night,
As may never be fought again.
We have won great glory, my men.
And a day less or more,
At sea or ashore,
We die -does it matter when?
Sink me the ship, master gunner!
Shoot her; split her in twain!
Fall into the hands of God
And not in the hands of Spain!”
I may have misquoted some, but that’s how it is fixed in my mind.
This is the spirit we in the West must have regarding Russia and China.
As you said.
No surrender. We will fight. God, please help us.
Trump has announced that he will meet with Putin on August 15. There are rumors that Trump is going to give huge concessions to Putin at the expense of Ukraine.
I hope not! If he did so, that would be Neville Chamberlain all over again.
I am afraid you are being unfair poor Neville.
Trump should not meet Putin without proper adult supervision.
I find it odd that Trump meets Putin in Alaska, given the fact that Moscow has been quite unashamedly claiming Alaska for themselves during the last several years.
Let’s meet near the frontier of our respective countries, Mr. Trump. It makes Ukraine appear irrelevant. Ukraine is nowhere near Alaska, which used to be Russian but is now America. This is about what we share and not really about Ukraine. Is this not ironic? Intentionally ironic?
I read today that Zelenskyy addressed precisely this instance of having that meeting as far away from Ukraine as possible – and he again reminded everybody that there can be no decision (or “deal”) without Ukraine being part of it.
If Trump continues doing “politics” like that, he may well at some point have the entire United States against himself – even though for that to happen a whole lot of folks still will have to wake up.
Yes. I think this is why Trump seems to vacillate.
That adult needs to be holding a belt or paddle for the wayward little child.
I found the location of the meeting curious too. Does Trump already have in mind territorial concessions beyond Ukraine? Just kidding! I hope. But he recently wrote on Truth social that “great progress” had been made in the negotiations with Russia. Sound ominous to me.
Definitely ominous.
The details coming out about the Alaska plan are worrying. Ukraine is also claiming that Witkoff misunderstood the Kremlin’s position in his recent visit to Russia. Perhaps he was using an FSB translator again.

Putin’s demand in the Alaska negotiations is Ukraine withdrawing all troops from the part of the Donetsk region it still controls.
It would mean giving up an area where hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians live & the heavily fortified lines Ukraine has built in the area since 2014.
…Putin is presenting the “Donetsk withdrawal plan” as a “take it or leave it” situation and plans to completely pull out of negotiations if Ukraine doesn’t accept it and will then try to get Trump to agree to placing all the blame for the continued war on Ukraine, hoping that Trump will refuse to send or sell any U.S. weapons to Ukraine for the rest of the war.
Wall Street Journal is the sources for the details of Putin’s Alaska Plan.
In terms of supplying weapons to Ukraine, it seems there is already a convenient loophole in place in Trump’s new US/NATO funding plan.

Ukraine will be abandoned, like Czechoslovakia in 1938. This is in the air.
In exchange for Ukraine pulling its troops from the Donetsk region, Putin promises to stop the advance from the south toward Kherson and Zaporizhia. But who would believe them? They would celebrate their gains in Donetsk and continue their attacks in the south.
Yes. The Russians will advance.
My question is how in Hell does anythings Trump does or doesn’t agree to amount to a hill of beans?? He doesn’t get to say what Ukraine has to do. Does he???
Trump is giving weapons to Ukraine. If he stops, Ukraine falls. So he does have some “cards”. He wants to manipulate Ukraine to agree to his terms by weapon supply. He has a stick for Ukraine and a carrot for Russia. Him sending nuclear submarines seems like a show to me.
It’s definitely a show. He is beholden to Russia and China too, I think. A blind man could see it. He is powerless to stand.
It is pure bluff.
I doubt Putin will ever leave Russia. Something stinks. There’s stories that Putin will go to Hungaria to meet with Zelensky.
Hungry is friendly to Russia, but it’s EU territory and he still could be arrested. Or am I wrong?
Hungary is a Nato-country but in reality allied to Russia. Could the same not also be said of Turkey? And if the attack on the Baltics/Poland does occur, would the Turks be deployed to Western Europe? Ostensibly as defenders of Nato-territory, but as will turn out once it’s too late, in truth in furtherance of caliphatist ambitions. In other words: the ultimate ‘Norway invasion’. Without doubt, cheered on all the way by their 5th columnist countrymen we have foolishly allowed right of abode.
I do not think Turkey could send more than a small rapid reaction force.
In theory, probably yes. In practice, Comrade Viktor Orbán does whatever he wants and just LOVES spitting those toothless Eurocrats in Brussels in the face.
They could gum him to death. lol.
A terrible way to go, lol.

Wescott doesn’t understand that the collapse of the Soviet Union was false, and that the Communists marched on (along with other things that stem from that), but he makes good points that are valuable to help confused Conservatives realize we must support Ukraine.
For anyone interested,
Chuck Holton does a good job explaining the Azerbaijan and Armanian peace deal.

So much for combatting Chinese influence in the US. Trump also bragged about what a great deal he made with China when he was in Europe.

Under the deal, Resolution Copper would take control of Oak Flat, a 2,200-acre area in the Tonto National Forest near Superior, Arizona, in exchange for private lands in the U.S. owned by the foreign mining giant.
…
Resolution Copper is a venture between two multinational mining companies, Rio Tinto and BHP. Rio Tinto’s largest shareholder is Chinalco, a Chinese state-owned company that owns roughly 15% of the company.
A loophole in the deal, critics say, allows Resolution Copper to send unrefined copper overseas for processing and sale. That would put China in a position to import 40 billion pounds of American unrefined copper worth more than $160 billion.
It is somewhat surprising that the Trump administration would endorse the transfer, given its recent efforts to combat Beijing’s footprint in the U.S.
Shocking but more of the same. We are treated like a Chinese colony.
Trump. Consistently inconsistent. John Bolton has it right. Trump is an amnesiac bungled. Every day is brand new chance for a coin flip deal.
No surprise. At all. Remember a few months ago when he said he was okay with Chinese college students staying?
This excuse for a man has one main feature, and one only-a big, big mouth.
But, no spine. No heart. No brain. No wisdom. No understanding.
Many of us were voting for what we hoped was the Lesser of Two Evils.
But I think many more were voting for simply a “quick fix” to the economy and some of the more insane Woke policies that were increasing under Biden/Harris.
They don’t realize our problems are very deep, very ingrained, and fundamentally spiritual, and that -at the bare minimum- years of hard work and sacrifice are required to fix them.
Every time a read a reference to a “Golden Age” under Trump, I want to puke.
The wolves are all around us and in the sheep pen, and they smell blood. And Trump is a hireling who will not protect the sheep, not a true shepherd.
Trump was, we thought, a slower road to decline.
We hoped against hope.
I don’t know if any of you read Darya Zorka’s writing, but I think she could really use some encouragement right about now.
