1. Indeed this is nothing that a Joseph de Maistre, a Juan Donoso Y Cortes, or a Charles Maurras could not have foreseen concerning France and the West, for they did. But one might risk misunderstanding the import of what Pareto is saying, because the larger spiritual crisis of the West looms greater in more perceptive eyes, an answer to which crisis the gentlemen I mentioned had no answer to.

   I may suggest though that Pareto’s Aesopian fable is not peculiar to the West and it’s problems, and that there are Lions and Foxes universally. During the ”Time of Troubles” (after the death of Tsars Ivan Grozny and then Boris Godunov) of the early 1600’s Russia was plagued by the ”Semiboyarshina”, or ”Seven Boyars”, who were as bad a den of Foxes as can be imagined, they having invited the Poles and Swedes to occupy the land…. But ”Lions” arose from the people in the form of the butcher from Novgorod Kuzma Minin and the Prince Pozharsky, who drove the invaders out…. I would like to say that the Lions ruled thereafter, but one of the Seven Boyars sons was elected Tsar in 1612, Mikhail Romanov, and Foxiness became a regular feature of political existence under that Dynasty for over 300 years, in my opinion.

   The World needs Lions, but Lions will assuredly come from somewhere should the West fail to produce and nurture them.

   1. Of course, as you say, Pareto sympathized with counter-revolution without believing in tradition or having any faith himself. A grim view. Le Bon was also like this, yet hated the Revolution. Dostoyevsky, after flirting with revolutionary ideas, understood the essence of atheistic communism and was at once converted to Orthodoxy and loyalty to the Tsar. It is curious to see the two types of anti-Revolutionaries. History does appear to follow the fable of lions and foxes, whether in Russia or the West. Pareto derived it from Machiavelli’s “Prince,” and turned into an actual formula — with equations and more. Even Jungian psychology took aspects of this seriously.

      1. Well put. And indeed, Charles Maurras also whom I mentioned before was a Non-Believer too, an odd case there, but surely correct in his ”Integralism” for the most part. Most thoughtful men from East or West or any other cardinal direction I believe go through an extended moment or two of enchantment (I use the word in it’s non-romantic meaning) with Revolutionary Socialism, because it is a temptation after all to want to remake the world, a ”Titanism” as Berdaeyev called it. What divides such enthralled men (in my opinion) is not so much the Fox/Lion divide, as the humble/the proud divide. Whatever my sympathies, I cannot become a Jacobin and change the world. In this we see however how revolutions fail, the refusal of the more honest Lions to take part in the revolution’s machinery…. Much like the French Officers you mention in your essay. Only what is organic and natural survives of the decaying revolutions (including the American?), and that’s where the Lions and the Foxes come in particularly, I think. The feast afterwards. Like him or not, Tsar Ivan ”the Terrible” was a Lion, but we have not seen his like in a very long time-and the comparisons with the sly and cunning, and well, ”foxy” Stalin fall rather short in my view.

         Perhaps I’m meandering with these extended metaphors, but it reminds me of something that proves to me that the original thinkers of counter-revolution were quite wrong. Joseph de Maistre once wrote that counter-revolution is ”the opposite of revolution” in every way. That no White Terror was necessary to replace the Red Terror. While not being a ”Jacobin of the Right”, I am not convinced that this shrinking from Counter-Revolutionary severity should be a universal general rule. My reason lies more with what you hinted at with Dostyoevsky and his Anti-Revolutionary views, because he saw with Revolution an entire Modern Metaphysics from which only a profound shock of the most severe kind can shake a man from it (of those in his circle to be hanged but then spared execution literally at the last minute, one man went permanently mad and Dostyoevsky suffered epileptic fits the rest of his life).

         I personally am not a Revolutionary of any kind, because I cannot square that with praying for ”right believing kings and queens” and so forth… While being at peace with all men as much as possible and obeying all the authorities wherever and whoever they are in all things except commands to sin. I think it’s the only true path out of the Revolutionary era, excepting the rise of Lions in the future.

In the Devils, in Crime and Punishment, and in the Idiot — seeing inside the murderer’s heart. He saw with one eye on redemption, Without judging; yet with fully seeing. Not easy to do. People moralize without understanding. That is easy, but misses the whole thing. You cannot avoid falling into a hole unless you really see that hole. Some of us are touched in different ways. We get lucky in our early choices, or we learn from others. The thing is, human beings are slow learners. We lack truthfulness about ourselves; especially when you consider the temptations to grandiosity, feeling sorry for yourself, nihilism and despair. If you don’t give in to these things you can begin to see where it takes some people. You begin to realize who the revolutionaries are. Of course, that does not mean counter-revolutionaries are nice people either. Jacob Burckhardt said that “power is evil.” He was right. You mentioned Ivan the Terrible, who was certainly powerful. One should imagine the scoundrels he had to deal with. “Never ask the wolves to help you against the dogs.” So what happens when you have to become a wolf yourself? What does God say? What is allowed? Simplistic moral rules are necessary, but they are not the whole truth. And there are various levels, various grades and types. Always, there is a darkness there. We all have to struggle in our own way toward the light (if you will excuse a trite metaphor).

   And in this we have our key God-given weapon in ”struggling towards the light”; our existential freedom (consider contra this view, that all the Western counter-revolutionaries like Joseph de Maistre were very Augustinian, more Augustinian than Blessed Augustine in fact, and thus very deterministic to a degree; this is why Western counter-revolution fails so far in my opinion). This brings me back to the theme you mentioned; of redemption, of seeing without judging, which defies all worldly human systems.

   Obviously the cultural code of the Chinese, in the context of what we’re speaking of (Communism as a metaphysics, and resistance to it) is another story altogether however from that of the Russian….It’s telling that the Bolsheviks won the Civil War in part because of the hundreds of thousands of Chinese and Muslim Asiatic soldiers who flocked into the ranks of the new Red Army, something little known in the West.

But these are now too highbrow for people who grew up with The Simpsons — who now watch YouTube and Netflix. In terms of our actual culture, one finds it by juxtaposing C.S. He used to say, “Charlie Manson was not a bad guy.” He would then add, “I don’t know what happened to Charlie.” The twisted old fellow thought all later “hipsters” were frauds. He, of course, was a genuine hipster. Make no mistake. He’d been to the promised land of Haight-Ashbury. He followed the Manson trial, at the time, with visits to the law library. It became such a habit with him, that in advanced old age the women who ran the county law library knew him as a “regular.” The particulars of his deeply perverted nature were akin to the comic figure of Gomez Adams of “Adams Family” fame. Only his iteration of counter-culture perversity was too unwittingly evil to be funny. He was a painfully thin, unkempt, old man, who wore socks with hippy sandals, lived in a rundown hotel on Fifth Street — with a broken sign and plenty of heroin addicts, schizophrenics and the occasional sufferer from demonopathy. Here one catches a wink from the seedy side of self-destruction. This is where folks have somehow progressed from being piano keys to urinating on the street. Have such people ever taken their own souls seriously? Have they ever honored anything? They were kin to Pavlov’s unfortunate dogs, salivating over psychedelics when the bell rang. Instead of making a Soviet Republic out of such people, we find only the California Republic, with a bear and a red star on its flag. Let us rejoice that the Revolution — in Russia or California — has always failed. The only downside has been the cost in human degradation. The counter-revolutionary sees all this. Insofar as counter-revolution in the West is animated by a conception of order, we find such figures as the French generals; Franco and Salazar; Richard Weaver and Eric Voegelin. Yet their sense of order — so very Catholic — actually goes back to the ancient Greeks and Egyptians. But these old sources of thought are lost or have been absorbed by Christianity. One detects an unfailing sense of this order in Catholic Spain, in the French generals, in the writings of Olavo de Carvalho. The English-speaking world has had trouble here. We find an unusual case in Thomas Carlyle — a most uncharacteristic counter-revolutionary, who showed the dilemma of the English-speaking world in refusing to rely on a “system” to conceive of order. It is characteristic that the English gave us such self-contradictory figures as Cromwell, Marlborough, Churchill and Queen Elizabeth II. English history, as opposed to American history, is strewn with such impossible points of departure as the English Civil War, the Glorious Revolution, the Second World War and the 1960s. The Americans had the history of Washington, the self-contradictory exemplar Jefferson, the greatness of Lincoln, and then the downward pull of Lincoln’s egalitarian demagogy. After 1865 the machinery of the Republic slid gradually, unwittingly, into Jacobinism, imperialism, feminism, consumerism and full-fledged nihilism. The Muslims and Asiatics who won the Russian Civil War for the Bolsheviks are here now, securing their beachheads for American Civil War II. Redemption and counter-revolution — as concepts — do not even peek out from this equation. One finds a desert of thought and spirit here, except in the furthest reaches of self-searching and self-help — buried in an enormous pile of muck, guarded by a dingy tinfoil hat-wearing UFO alien.

         Do you read Kierkegaard? These are the people mired in what he described as ”the sickness unto death”, specifically in that these types are desperately sick spiritually, but so much so that they no longer know that they are. Such is the soil of the modern revolutionary; life being a mere parenthesis between Nothing and Nothing, and having this brief time in which to live, they devote their time to doing absolutely whatever they will. And an ersatz religion like Marxist Leninism at least covers a thin veneer over the nihilism, provides life with some meaning to an Atheist.          I think it’s because the lack of time, the literal lack of time, that Revolution fails, more than anything else. I speak of course of the Western style Atheism, as that of the Far East is profoundly different while even more Demonic (Milton’s insight that Satan is an Atheist of sorts, revealed in ‘Paradise Lost’, is helpful here).

         As you say, the counter-revolutionary sees all this and possesses a conception of order. The trick is, having such a conception of order, that Leonine conception of Tradition, that is sufficient to not only stop but to even reverse the Red Wheel of ”Progress”. It’s possible in light of this that I have a slightly modified conception of the ”Golitsyn Thesis” in my worldview, then, thanks to you over this long period, that posits China as the fountainhead and center of International Communism (and the Strategic Deception that undergirds it’s probable future triumph over much of the world), with a nod also to the possibility that Islam, full of the Revolutionary spirit but not hobbled by Atheism’s despair, is better poised for victory. Either way, they work together and always have. The likely ace in the hole being the nuclear forces of the Chinese available to them relative to the power of Islam…

         The way I see it, to return to the original metaphor in the article, ”Strategic Deception” of Modern Civilization is not only a possibility, but a certainty given the rule of Foxes and not Lions. The rulers of the Modern world literally cannot see their demise, because they cannot see the logic and inevitability of nuclear war based on the assumption that it is impossible and unwinnable in any case (After all, why would anyone risk their wealth and their lives? They think). Other minds believe not, have reconciled themselves to the hard and even heartless choices.

Listen carefully to what that other fellow is saying. Ask yourself if you would ever say such a thing. We would take pity on them, but they might never return the favor. Imagine meeting the young Hitler in a Vienna coffee shop in 1908. You might be amused by this lively teenage character as you listen, failing to hear that murderous clang of a prison door shutting at the end of an off-hand remark. Not all men are safe to coexist with. Even with a border between you, that border may not stop him as he pulls it down. In Russia a system that once elevated ambitious psychopaths now struggles to adjust itself, inwardly unsure of itself, having lost the benefit of Stalin’s murderous genius. The Kremlin gang nonetheless strives for dominance. The Chinese communists, who once looked up to the Kremlin, are determined to never lose that tight control for the sake of “reforms.” Russia may become a normal country again. It all hangs in the balance. Yet China’s ruling party is ready to lead the way through a violent break. Will they do so now? The counter-revolution is the unknown factor here, and Europe may be nearing a crossroad. Impossible to guess how this unfolds.

He served as the President of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV – Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz) from 2012 to 2018. Maaßen was now selected as the Christian Democratic Union’s (CDU) candidate for the constituency of Suhl – Sonneberg in the 2021 German federal election.

In an interview with Bild (newspaper), Maaßen questioned whether there was any credible evidence for such “hunts”, and stated that his security agency had in fact not seen any such evidence.
         The video that was supposed to prove the alleged Chemnitz protests was uploaded by Antifa and picked up by the German MSM. The full video excerpts later showed that Maaßen was right (but kept quiet by the MSM). The whole thing is likely to have been a trap by Merkel and Co.
         Maaßen should know the background of the communist long-term strategy. He is absolutely critical of Putin. Very interesting.

If I may, I am of the mind to think that there is the ”UFO Phenomenon”, and then there is the ”UFO Religion”, something distinct from the former and yet pushed upon us all by curiously interested, biased, and fanatical parties.       1. Many cults and religions are based on supernatural phenomenon. UFOs may be another case in point. When you do not know what something is, you need to be careful in assessing it. There are many strange phenomena referred to in history (by ancient historians, especially). There are people who are now trying to contact “higher” intelligences — aliens, spirits, the dead. Keel once said, “Demonology is not just another crackpot ology.” In Karla Turner’s book, “Masquerade of Angels,” we are taken on a very frightening biographical journey through the life of a man afflicted by demonic entities connected with UFOs. These are trying — over many years — to claim his soul. At one point in the story the poor man checks himself into a psychiatric hospital. This story, and many like it, present a frightening encounter with evil. I do not believe science has any explanations for this. Parapsychology is an attempt at scientific study of precognition, telepathy, telekinesis, etc. But scientists do not seem prepared to study evil. Consequently, exorcists may have something more to offer. At university I got to know a parapsychologist named Mark who shared with me some of his more bizarre experiences. Mark was one of the scientists who tested Uri Geller’s abilities in the 1970s. He definitely believed that Geller had inexplicable talents. He had some very strange stories he would not even share with his colleagues. I asked how his experiences with Geller could be explained? He honestly said there was no explanation. The universe is a mystery and man is only at the beginning of knowing anything. It is the smug materialism of our time that denies the spiritual and miraculous aspects of life. Marxism is the political side of this denial. One might say that Marxism is materialism applied to politics. Here we have to be extra careful when bringing up UFOs because of the political use such a topic might have in the wrong hands. It would not be unthinkable for the communists to exploit hopes of salvation from ET visitors, merging such narratives with revolutionary socialist narratives. They could use a false interpretation of the UFO phenomenon to damage our religious traditions. To qualify what I am suggesting, it is not my position that there aren’t intelligent animals on other planets. So what if there are? However, the expectation of contact with a superior civilization could be used in various ways. The idea itself has become powerful and people may be manipulated by it. What is most disturbing here, once again, is the paranormal aspect of the phenomenon. A cautionary note is in order.

Mishlove wrote the book “The PK Man,” a book about another Geller-like character who claimed to possess powers obtained from a relationship with UFOs. He could predict when UFOs would appear, demonstrated strange powers over the weather and other elements of nature, and even claimed he could make his preferred team win in the Superbowl, if memory serves. Mishlove has a few videos on the PK Man if you’re not in the mood to find and read the book.

         I’ll also add, Dr. Steven Greer summons UFOs on a regular basis just with meditation. I can’t imagine any technology that could detect the “loving” thoughts of a bunch of elderly hippies, the sorts of people who go to Greer’s meditation outings.

         A friend of mine claims he attempted Greer’s methods while on a camping trip. He didn’t see any UFOs, but he did hear intense growling that sounded like a cross between a wolf and a snake coming from the dark of the woods around him. It was not an enjoyable experience for him.

   1. I use three quotations as headers from Shakespeare’s play, Hamlet. “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead” is a line from the play, referring to the execution of two false friends of Hamlet. Their death is announced near the end of the play. They were agents of the play’s fox, King Claudius (Hamlet’s uncle), who had stolen the crown. Each of my other two subheadings are also quotations from Hamlet. The play itself is about a lion trying to overcome a fox — and who kills the fox in the end.

The best Russian, American and West European thinkers of the last two centuries have expressed a sense of dismay at the turn history has taken. Even atheistic or agnostic thinkers have expressed dismay (e.g., Gustav Le Bon, Vilfredo Pareto, Friedrich Nietzsche, Jacob Burckhardt, etc). Eric Voegelin, whose political science merges with Christian mysticism, wrote of a parousiastic gnosticism striving to destroy “the order of being, which is experienced as defective and unjust….” This dangerous idea, which misunderstands history and man, madly imagines that man can make the world perfect (i.e., that man can correct God’s “mistakes”). Of course, man can do no such thing. This insane idea involves us in dangerous self-misunderstandings, dangerous political projects and, finally, mass murder. The communist ideal that “the givenness of the order of being must be obliterated” only guarantees wholesale obliteration. As such, it is demonic. Anyone who has personally known true-believing communists has glimpsed this (if possessed of any insight at all), and trembles to think what these madmen will do next. All the great intellects of the last two centuries give us bits of a larger understanding of our time. From Alexis de Tocqueville, William Hartpole Lecky, Geatano Mosca and Max Weber, we read cautionary tales about the decline of religious and/or aristocratic values. If we are imaginative, if we are tuned to what is unfolding, we can profit greatly from these thinkers. The dangerous answers, and the “easy” answers, offered up by scientific socialism, rationalist liberalism, materialist Darwinism, are now in the driver’s seat. Buckle up knuckle heads! The idea of a universal order based on a false idea of who man is, of where man is headed, promises us the greatest train wreck in all history. The many falsifications of reality which flow from these doctrines, smug as they are in scientistic certainty — stupefying in their literalism — cannot be fully reckoned. After this fashion, the rulers and ruling classes of America, Russia and China crawl toward a world war in which the once dominant West is ruled by wicked fools, Russia is ruled by wicked nihilists, and China is ruled by psychopaths who have, through deeply convoluted schemes, outwitted themselves. These elites, who make world history, promise to give us the perfect storm. Only a minority in each country senses the falseness of these regimes and the calamity into which they are likely to plunge us. The comfortable bourgeoisie will not be comfortable much longer.

36. Now that you are in a discussion of Covid-19, there’s so much falsehood going around that it’s hard to tell what is the truth. There have been so many cases documented of falsified death records that some people have gone to the opposite extreme to claim that the disease doesn’t exist. The test used to “diagnose” the illness is ridiculously inaccurate, because it was never intended as a diagnostic test. Therefore, we have no idea of how many people have had the disease, nor how many actually died of the disease and not of other comorbidities.

    I knew someone who supposedly died of it. But he had so many comorbidities that he had been in hospice for months, and so far gone that he had been unable to communicate with his siblings for months. Then the day before he died, he was diagnosed with Covid-19. Was the Covid-19 in his body long enough to kill him? Or was his death the result of the other comorbidities that he already had? Was that a false positive from what is known as a highly inaccurate test? We’ll never know.

    At the beginning of 2020, students returned to the local university. Among them were some from China. Shortly afterwards the news started talking about a terrible new disease in Wuhan, but it was over there, not here. The imagery was awful. Then in early February I came down with by far the worst cough that I’ve ever had. My whole body ached. I had a fever. I needed help to get out of bed. Now over a year later, my stamina is noticeably less. I tire more easily. Is that the long-term result of my fever, or from enforced inactivity from the shut-down?

    The reason I include my personal story is 1) from both subjective and objective evidence, the disease really exists 2) the subjective evidence is that I already had it, therefore have natural immunity.

    We’ll never know the true numbers of those killed by the disease, nor even of those infected with it, because of the fraud connected with those numbers. We’ll also never know the total number of those killed by the “vaccines”, again because of the fraud connected with those numbers. Even the VAERS data is recognized at receiving only a fraction of actual events. So with the fraud and incomplete data, have the “vaccines” come to be more deadly than the disease? And we don’t know it because of fraud? Is it true, as some claim, that the “vaccines” themselves are bio-weapons designed for mass murder?

    Now I could put on my tin-foil hat and speculate as to motives. Bill Gates never impressed me as being someone who is particularly bright, rather just someone who is evil and loaded with money: I can put his motives as a psychopath with greed and foolishness. Anthony Fauci has documented connections to the CCP. As for those who developed the “vaccines”—ignorance. How many politicians and newscasters just stupidly believe the “experts”? It was known for some time that the disease is mainly a blood-clotting disease, but only recently that the mechanism is connected to the spike proteins themselves—the mRNA shots are designed to make our bodies into spike protein factories, and the others are loaded with spike proteins. The clots start out tiny, affecting the smallest blood vessels first, then the larger clots cause strokes and heart attacks, as well as other damage throughout the body.

    Anthony Fauci and his colleagues’ connections to the CCP and their public near worship are most troubling to me.
