China is falling back on brutal threats, bullying tactics, and invective, to thwart an investigation into the origins of COVID-19. The Atlantic headline on 19 March said, “China is Avoiding Blame by Trolling the World.” But now, China avoids blame by open menace.

It is well known that Chinese officials have covered their tracks in Wuhan. It’s a matter of public record. We still don’t have the full story. We don’t know how the virus became infectious, or how it got out of China’s level-4 virology lab. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says there is plenty of evidence the virus came out of this lab. But Chinese officials continue to deny the facts.

If you criticize China for lying about the virus, expect invective from the Beijing’s state-controlled press. Expect threats, subtle and unsubtle. Expect to have your motives maligned. China’s media puppets will pour raw sewage on anyone who lays out the facts.

Recently the Chinese press has attacked U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo, calling him a liar, an enemy of world peace, and a partisan stooge. China’s Global Times accuses Pompeo of “a vicious attack fueled by politics, intelligence, and diplomacy.” According to the Chinese media, Pompeo’s behavior is “filthy” and “defies the essence of science.”

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison wants an investigation into the origin of the COVID-19 virus. “It would seem entirely reasonable and sensible … to have an independent assessment of how all this occurred….” The Chinese press doesn’t agree. According Chin’s media, Australia is “gum stuck to the bottom of China’s shoe.” According to the Global Times: “The Morrison government’s adventurism … is in defiance of rational thought and common sense.”

If someone were to invent bullying behavior from a totalitarian state, who could invent better lines than these? Australia is vulnerable to China’s growing military preponderance. If Australia was threatened with invasion by an overstretched Japanese military in 1942, the situation is much worse with regard to a Chinese invasion in 2020.

In raw military terms: China outnumbers Australia at sea 300 to 50 in warships; 5,200 to 309 in warplanes. With regard to land forces, China has over 250 infantry divisions, 8 armored divisions and 17 artillery divisions against Australia’s 12 brigades (a brigade being smaller than a division). Worse yet, Australia has no nuclear weapons while China is a nuclear superpower.

To his credit, Prime Minister Morrison has not backed down — despite subsequent economic bullying from the Chinese ambassador. We have to ask ourselves if China’s behavior toward Australia is reasonable. Is it civilized? What kind of relationship should America have with country that sees our ally as “gum stuck to the bottom of China’s shoe”?

It was a grave mistake of President Nixon to open relations with Communist China, of President Carter to open trade with Communist China, of President Reagan to build up Communist China. We have helped a formidable enemy become a great power. This lack of foresight has landed us in a difficult situation. If we had moral sense to begin with, and if we had been honest, these errors would not have been made; for seeing that China’s leaders were functionaries in a vast system of murder and oppression, we would not have helped them, or partnered with them.

In the coming days we will be subjected to intensive propaganda. China’s business partners in the pharmaceutical and other industries will be applying the screws to our politicians. There is a word for businessmen who push the agenda of a foreign enemy, who set aside patriotic feeling for the sake of corporate profit. This word is “treason.” If anyone thinks Americans have forgotten this word, they are mistaken. If big business continues to take China’s side, then big business in this country will be finished. It will be “gum stuck to the bottom of America’s shoe.”

The same logic applies to politicians who support Chinese initiatives, who support “global governance.” Everyone needs to understand what is coming. It is time to choose sides. It is time to choose wisely.

    2. Reagan didn’t listen long to Haig, as he was gone within a week of Reagan being shot. Remember, his “I’m” in charge” comment, which did him in very fast. If anyone it was George Shultz that pushed Reagan towards trade with China.

  6. Jeff, what are your thoughts on EMP weapons? Do you think it likely that they will be used?

    1. The super-EMP bomb may not be used except under the most desperate circumstances. It would melt down all the fission nuclear plants in North America, poisoning the groundwater of the continent for a thousand years. God knows what would happen to the Atlantic Ocean. It is not a practical weapon, but localized EMP attacks are very likely.

  7. I don’t buy that US spooks don’t know the origin of the virus and the circumstances of the global contamination. It’s just like 9/11 in that the people aren’t told the truth in full context. How come the US responds by treating Americans more like China treats Chinese, and Russia treats Ruskys?

    1. We need to get away from these distorted self-images and fallacious comparisons. Bad people in the U.S. Government have done bad things, but these are insignificant when compared to actions of regimes where there isn’t any freedom of speech and citizens are murdered outright for disagreeing with the government. There is plenty to be concerned about from our government without exaggerating or leveling false charges. We need to be balanced in our judgments.

  8. I would question your view that super EMP bomb would cause apocalyptic ecological damage through the meltdowns of nuclear power plants. I have done a good deal of reading on electromagnetic pulses, and I have never heard assert that the damage would be that extreme. While events such as Chernobyl and Fukishima are certainly destructive, I find it hard to imagine that 96, (the number of reactors in the US.), such events would cause the level of damage you describe.

  9. A super EMP bomb, assuming it took out our national electric grid, would definitely result in the meltdown of nuclear power plants across the country. These plants need electricity to maintain cooling of their reactor cores. Backup generators would be able to meet this demand for a limited period of time, however, without an operating electric grid, the supply of backup fuel for the generator would quickly run out. The reactor cores would then overheat meltdown, The EMP blast itself would not melt down the core.

    1. Yes. That is right. But EMP from a super-EMP weapon would destroy the ignition electronics of the backup generators as well. A super-EMP weapon can destroy warhead electronics inside a ICBM silo. For a chain reaction EMP, cross-grid from a region wide effect, the situation would depend on whether the backup generators are connected to the grid, which they probably are. Does anyone out there have specific knowledge on this? Would be interesting to know.

      3. I cannot guarantee that I will find the truth. There are many contradicting claims and theories from scientists. The only common denominator are the many reports of corruption at the NIH regarding Big Pharma. That seems to be coming into focus as I go through various books.

  11. I can assure everyone (after 38 years as a pharmacist) that the good doctor’s concerns about SV40 and XMRV viruses are quite genuine issues, and that is not even a drop in a proverbial ocean as far as the number of “medical” issues with Big Pharma to say nothing of their other “issues.”

    I remember an article years and years ago written in memory of an early cancer researcher.
    It was a story from his early days as a medical student. Back in the early nineteen teens, the leading physician at his teaching hospital wanted to show him a case of a respiratory illness that was as the physician put it, “So rare it he night not ever see it again.”

    The disease, Squamous Cell Lung Cancer.
    “Squamous cell lung cancer, also called squamous cell carcinoma of the lung, accounts for about 30% of all lung cancers.”
    “Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the lung, also known as epidermoid carcinoma, is a form of lung cancer. There are two types of lung cancer: small lung cell cancer (SCLC) and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Squamous cell carcinoma is a type of non-small cell carcinoma. It’s the most common form of lung cancer in men, and it’s more common in men than in women. It’s usually caused by smoking tobacco.”

    “Smoking tobacco” didn’t create skyrocketing lung cancer rates. Did SV40 or radioactive pollution contribute? We may never know.

  17. The CCP is very good at saber rattling, and playing all sorts of games in order to keep everyone off balance, giving themselves the advantage at all times. At least that is what they are hoping to do.
    I do think that they are good students of Sun Tzu and that they are following his teachings, especially with the follow:
    “Supreme excellence consists of breaking the enemy’s resistance without fighting.”
    “All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when we are able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must appear inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.”

    When we can see through the games the CCP is playing, we will then be able to determine how best to deal with China.

  20. With regard to the virus from China, and the culpability of the CCP.
    What about the concept of “Fortress America” ? I thought about this when Jeff mentioned the Soviet bloc using oil and food as weapons or means of coercion. If I have my facts correct, the U.S. produces more than enough oil for it,s needs. And I think that the U.S. produces and can produce much more food than it needs. So in a push comes to shove war situation it seems that we would have the resources to survive. (with the USA as a closed system).
    It seems that we could seize assets, companies ( Smithfield ? ). And default on the T-bills they have purchased until they start acting civilized. On energy this does not even include natural gas, used for heat but also for vehicles as cng or ngl ( compressed natural gas or natural gas liquids ). ( we have huge natural gas reserves ).
    It seems we are in a strong position and not a weak one. Or perhaps bad psychology and bad politicians make our position weaker than necessary.
    Perhaps the problem is the war economy vs. peacetime economy. If the situation becomes or is some type of war situation we should transition to Fortress America. While maintaining the Constitution and the free market, at least after this crisis is resolved. And the government and energy companies could have energy production plants waiting in the wings if it seemed that it may be prudent.
    Interested to see what everybody thinks of this. Sorry for the long post. I guess the transition period to the war economy may be the difficult and painful part. Am I too optimistic ? Maybe the government is already planning along these lines ?

    1. The problem is that our economy has been seriously dislocated, we do not manufacture what we use, and our oil industry is being destroyed by the ongoing price collapse. The key can only be found in our top leadership. Is Trump oriented properly? Does he know who the enemy is, or does he allow they are partners and competitors. If the latter, we will suffer a terrible defeat.

  21. With regard to the Fortress America concept I just posted. We could also trade with trusted allies. If we chose to and if they are really trusted.

    John Moore said that one of the networks present a dire video of a hospital. The report says it is in New York but it was actually in Italy.
    Also Project Veritas says that CBS presented a video of patients in Michigan waiting in line for a covid test. Only they were not patients but hospital employees who were play acting.
    I don,t know much about this. I am curious where the truth lies. Ideas, links anybody ?

    1. I do not think such videos prove a conspiracy against the truth. According to law it is not permitted to make video recordings of people in hospitals due to privacy laws. Getting permission from comatose patients simply cannot occur. Approaching such patients with contracts is a difficult thing. Everyone who works in a hospital signs confidentiality agreements. Getting permission to make videos in hospitals is highly problematic. I know from having worked in hospitals. It is not surprising that TV news people are desperate for images and take liberties to manufacture scenes. I do not think it is as sinister as some are claiming.

  24. Jeff. I would like to return to your earlier comments regarding the use of an EMP. A super EMP would result in the United States becoming a nuclear wasteland, as you pointed out.
    The radiation would also contaminate the N Atlantic ocean as well. The Chinese speak of
    needing to take the continental U.S. in order to usher in a Chinese century. But do they really need to occupy the United States? If we were taken out by a super EMP and removed as a military threat the Chinese could walk through the entire southern hemisphere unopposed. NATO would be of no help as Russia would be ready to move in and take
    Europe, Alaska and Canada. Do you think the Chinese would be content with Africa,
    S America, etc or do you think they are determined to occupy the United States?
